@Sage:

I used Liara and James until I finally got past the Cure the Genophage plot line. Then it was Liara and Kaidan all the way. Just like old times, I guess.

What Chignon said. The bulk of Kaidan-specific dialogue happens on the shuttle en route. The rest of the mission is mainly battle commentary because Liara dominates the conversation when dealing with the prothean. You could make a save before landing on Eden Prime and run through all the companions through the beginning to see how different the conversations are.

Edit: My first game was definitely a mixed bag. I took Garrus most of the time because he was my wingman. I took EDI along on any Cerberus missions in case she had any additional information. Brought her on Tali's mission. Javik was a real pill and I didn't really "get" his abilities so I didn't care to use him. It wasn't until my second game that I used Kaidan and James exclusively because I wanted to squeeze out every dialogue from them possible to get the full experience. I rationalized that Liara had her hands full with the shadow broker stuff on the ship and Garrus was busy coordinating things with Palaven's forces. Tali just came too late in the game for me to remember to use her. Javik was still a pill. I left EDI on the ship so Joker would have as much time with her as possible before I crushed his dreams in the end. *hangs head* =p

@Sagequeen: I was like "Garrus is playing with fire on this one. How does he know she won't charge a bottle?" I was also sort of sad there wasn't a "Miss both, demand shotgun or punchout" option. Damn Garrus for never sparring with Shepard. I always like reading about peoples' takes on scenes. And their Shepard's takes on things.

If you have the DLC, what was running through your Shepards' minds with "Hey, that's a prothean!" I still haven't done my canon's golden run, which in theory, will start in 1, go to 2, then 3, and be accompanied by writings and doodles all the way. And that's one of the moments I'm not sure how to handle in 3.

He shoots at Shepard thinking she's a Cerberus space ninja. I guess that helped to put things into perspective.

@Sage:

I can't wait to read it.

Edit

@Gilsa:

I loved taking Liara and Kaidan to Eden Prime. Their banter was cute and I loved the extra dialogue Shepard gets with Kaidan in the shuttle.

The classy hairstyle looks great on your Shepard, by the way. I was a bit disappointed by what they did with the old bob hairstyle.

I meant to wait to do that mission so I could have Kaidan and Liara with me to do Eden Prime too. Forgot the last time I played. It might take me a while to get up enough back done to do another play through. Must jade my heart some more to do the coup again.

Anyways...I might have just figured out how to make gifs.... :devil:

@Chig -- Forgot to say thanks on the classy hair comment!

@Hyper -- LOL, I did the exact same thing. Kept the "missed it" because it was so cute watching him get all haar harr harrr about it in the end. =D

I was just looking in another thread and it blew my mind when I realized that the color in the final goodbye scene with Liara is based on your morality. The light was red for me and blue in someone else's screenshot. SO COOL. The blue/red planets were one of my favorite things about the endings of ME1 and ME2 so it was awesome to see this reflected in Liara's farewell. I'm sure there have been screenshots in this thread in that moment, but I just didn't realize it until now.

Awesome Gilsa, I didn't realize that scene change depending on your alignment. I got pale blue for Paragon.

I used a camera. Probably not sane or best... Mashing my screencap button did nothing, and I guess you need another program going.

Wow. Got a lot of catching up to do on this thread. I just finished Erica, and as w/ UJ, I didn't have enough EMS, so she died. She's a about 70% renegade and chose destroy just to ensure the Reapers were down for good, though she did consider control, mostly because of EDI. Still, she made the hard sacrifice like she always does. She helped cure the genophage and got the Quarians and Geth together. Unfortunately, Miranda died.

Erica rarely let her guard down, but this was one of those times.

I just have to say...

Ignoring the ending (anything from the point of Harbinger's beam attack onward), Mass Effect three was an absolutely stellar game. The emotional rollercoaster it put me on was, at times, hard to endure due to its intensity.

The worst, perhaps, after the fall of Thessia (which had me wandering the Normandy in a daze for a good half hour trying to avoid talking with Liara...and then nearly crying after I finally did), was saying goodbye to all your squadmates just before charging that damn beacon. Especially Kaidan... "We're soldiers, we know the score. ... we know this is goodbye." "Yeah... we know the score." Or telling Garrus you'd be watching his back from the bar in Turian heaven. Or, as a Liaramancer, sharing her gift of memory while kissing, after her heartbreaking line about blue children. I almost lost it for all of them.

The voice acting in ME3 was universally stellar, a cut above even the previous two games in the trilogy, which was in and of itself a cut above the average game release out there. I was fighting to keep myself under control talking with them at the end. The occasional break or hitch in Hale's voice did not do me any favors in that department. Beautiful, powerful voice acting from all those concerned, but especially Hale. Throughout the entire game, she was incomparable. I will venture to say it's her best work to date, in any medium.

If only the ending had given us catharsis instead of questions, the game would be among my favorites of all time, and the trilogy would stand among the greatest science fiction I've ever experienced, whether novel, television, or any other medium.

@ Sable Phoenix ~

Yeah I felt the same way, it was an emotional rollercoaster. I have to say that Hale's voice after the beam was brilliant. Her pain and emotion sounded so traumatised. For a galactic super hero she certainly convinced me her time was almost up.
It was like a dagger to my heart listening to her struggle with the relization of fading hope and doom :crying:

She tottally nailed it with this game. I felt her pain.:crying:

Yep. Completely agree. Brilliant right up to the last 10 minutes or so. After that, well, most episodes of Lost in Space made more sense. So sad, but I'm trying to learn to focus on the 99% and see what develops with the rest.

I can't believe I spelled Kaidan with an E. I've got a head cold right now, so that'll be my excuse.

Regardless... stellar voice work from all involved, but Hale, Sbarge, Hillis and Keener stood head and shoulders above the crowd as the real stars of the game.

I actually think the part with Anderson is a perfect ending spot. If your EMS is high the crucible should fire at earth and send a kill code for the Reapersthat shuts them down. I just like the idea of Shepard, battered and bruised still moving forward to win reminds me of a moment in Naruto where the title character was so drained during a fight to protect his village that when he saw his enemy was still conscious he crawled after him with his chin and it freaked the other guy out. No quit in Commander Shepard.
