I'd put Martin Sheen's performance right up there alongside Jennifer Hale's. Their exchange at the end there was amazing. Especially the last line TIM says if you shoot him (renegade option)
"There… Earth. I wish you could see it like I do, Shepard. It’s so… perfect."
So yeah, shooting him is the way to go...and plus I don't like that he commits suicide if you pick the paragon option. Reminds me too much of Saren...
Why not?
TIM: *Blam!*
Shepard: "heh... 2 for 2..."

Sigh... I hate it when you have to use hax to mod the game. Something like texture override folder shouldn't be that hard especially when developers give smartphone grade textures as default. I just can't bother with texmod since it is pita every time you start the game. I prefer fix and forget style tinkering.
Plus with Rainyday's batchfile post, it's no effort to run texmod really. (thnx again for that Rainy)

So I stumbled across Ms. Effect: The Rise of FemShep (most of you have probably already seen this) and I couldn't agree more. What's so awesome about femshep is that her identity as a woman doesn't overshaddow everything else. Shepard is awesome and capable and doesn't take sh!t. She just happens to be a woman.
Interesting read - though I think the problem is not just a female character issues..its a Character issue that boils down two..
Emotion = Weakness.
That any show of emotion or more any show of vunerable emotion, sadness, sorrow, doubt, love etc. Is somehow not a considered as strong. For instance think of how many male characters you see that are actually happy to fathers. There seems to be that notion that any kind of human vulnerability makes a character some how weak. Which I whole disagree with.... One of my favoraite scenes in Final Fatansy 13 - there is conversation between Lightning and Snow where they are talking to Serah or about Serah and Gran Pulse. Its an amazing seen because it shoes an incrediablely human sid to Lightining has been for most hell on wheels with pink hair. The mask cracks for a moment and it gets across that she damn scared this what they are doing is not going work and she has so many doubts. This never express and Snow never comes out and calls her own but just reassures... its great scene.... love it.
The same scene happens in the Mass Effect before the Chronos station mission in the various romances Shepard both male or female has the armor strip away and is not the invincible player avatar anymore but an actual character.. that has doubts and fears.
The Biggest problem with video game heroes and Heroines is not that fit X sterotype- though that is one of the issues. Its that they are not characters they are simply player avaters , so for the most part they have feel like they invinsiable and fear nothing. Yet, a Hero or a Heorine is not that they are characters and their fears and how they over come them are part of the story that is told . This is one of the things Mass Effect 3 does right up until the end...
Now if you would excuse- I have a back gate too fix... will return in a 1 or 2... great read.
*looks outside*
Well those clouds are looking rather ominus so It looks no fixing anything for me... damn this storm blew up fast.

@meonlyred -- I love the picture of Z and Kaidan about to jump off the shuttle. Every time I see the shuttle, I think of Cortez. I really like that they brought in a driver that we can interact with over the course of the game and I LOVE the scenes where Shepard is obviously waving to Cortez as he departs (even though we can't see him from the outside). It feels like real teamwork, that everyone is doing their part to help out Shepard, even if it's just shuttle driving. They did a good job adding in Chamber/Traynor's assistant role back in ME2, but Cortez is a real winner for overall ambience.
I loved that too. There are fewer "red shirts" in this Mass Effect game. It's good to have side characters in support roles that you can actually interact with. Reminds you that soldiers aren't the only ones contributing to the fight.
I also loved being able to interact with more humans this time around. Too much time around aliens and I start to feel, uh, alienated from humanity. (Although there are fans that seem to have a bit of self-loathing going on; thinking human characters are boring, etc.)

I'm a woman in computer science (a male dominated field).
Interesting study:
A group of computer scientist researchers made fake resumes and sent them to companies and had the various companies rate how qualified the various candidates appeared.
Statistically, women who put "mother" on their resume were perceived as less qualified.
Men who put "father" on their resume were perceived as more qualified.
Take what you want from that.

That Case study... sad , really I can't really say any more that...
Father = qualified
Mother = not qualified
Thats as bad as The Catalyst logic.

I may try out eventually, we'll see. If it causes big performance hit I can't use it. I can't use anything else than 8xMSAA and 4xTrSSAA, once you get used to it there's no turning back.Ottemis wrote...

I know
A couple of us discussed this a few pages back. That room has some fantastic lighting, but the fact all the "transparant gas" messes up the hair texture is a real disappointment.
To be fair its the only place in the game where its really really noticable.

I think it has something to do with sensor ablie... maybe something that keeps the room clean so he is not over louded with information from who every enters.

Awesome. It's crazy how there is a trope for everything.
I remember how happy I was to see my shep in a dress in the Kasumi mission. She looks good in all situations.
I also love the simple joy of having female characters in full armor. As a fan of both fantasy and scifi I can't stand it when some dainty chick is running around with bikini armor. Its not armor if it doesn't cover your body!
My interpretation of the father/mother study is that women who are "mothers" are assumed to care more about their children then work (which they should) to the detriment of their job. Where as "fathers" are thought to be responsible/ good guys and thus reliable and employable.

I will say that even though the hair issues can be annoying, Javik's room casts some really intense and arty shadows. This is one of my favorite moments in that room (I think it's after he fights with Liara and apologies and Shepard says something like, "Did you really mean that?"). Look at the mood it creates. I bet that a Shepard with blue or green eyes will really pop out in this scene.

Fun with the flycam on demo Shepard. Good possibilities here.

Interestingly enough, that gas isn't the only place where hair gets messed up. I was playing with the flycam and had gone behind the Shepard VI and noticed that Shepard's hair disappeared through it:
Funny thing is that with just about any OTHER smoke effect, Shep's hair actually stands out as though it's the only thing that isn't affected by the smoke.

The Kasumi mission was painful for me. At first I was all "SWEET! She gets to wear a dress". And then I had to endure watching her lumber around the mansion, walking like Rooster Cogburn from True Grit, looking as out of place in those clothes as one could look. Funny how the same thing can look totally different to different folks.
Thank god for the new walking animations.....well at least IN game.
