Yep, it's not so much the dying. Not at all really.
It's the lack of content, the fact you get ONE convo, that she's stoic during the deathscene, not only for the romance, no followup, no recognition, altogether they dropped the ball in huge ways.

I think what  one of the issues is, is that it poorly communicated why he is at the  hospital, he is just there.   They would have just said  well he is in Hospice at this point which they alluded to in the conversation when you ask him to come with you. Then instead of a letter, Shepard should have had that conversation with him personal about her moving own after he is gone.

I wish i could say something that would make you change your mind...don't go.

I sent her a sincere apology. If she doesn't accept, I'll leave so she can come back. I'm not into hurting women's feelings. That's just weak.

I know. Hopefully she'll see that. Man don't talk about leaving too...

Now that armor (chest piece) i really like. Strange how  everything i pick has to make sense and follow a certain logic. Except for armor - well camo has to make sense...a lot - i just pick the prettiest( to me) and roll with.
I've noticed that the color you picked for yours has some of the most interesting light effects i've seen in the game: on Rannoch in particular...it's just awesome.

@Aislinn, I hope you change your mind and not leave. I'm fairly certain the vast majority of us here like having you post.

@sagequeen: One of these days I'm gonna disagree with you on something. So far, everything you've said (written) on here and your blog I'm in complete agreement with.

Speaking as a guy, the whole saving the damsel-in-distress thing seemed cool... when I was fifteen. Some twenty-five years later, it doesn't appeal to me at all. I'd much rather have that lady fight by my side while we save the village/kingdom/planet/galaxy. And wearing sensible armor, too.

I've had strong women in my family growing up, so as I got be an adult, the idea of playing a female character in a game just didn't seem odd to me. But, only if she happened to be the main character. If given the choice, I would chose male. It wasn't until I discovered the happy accident that is FemShep that all changed. One day, I was bored and having played through ME1 twice (with, dear god, two Sheploos) I decided to try a female. I think I just picked the default. I was hooked from before the Eden Prime mission. I then tried (and failed) to make my own custom face and as I posted before, sought out one.

IMHO, FemShep just works not because she's a strong female character, but because she's a strong character, period. I probably read that somewhere, so whomever I "borrowed" it from, sorry. But, it is exactly how I feel. A lot of it has to do with Jennifer Hale's voice acting. I have a few female chars in DAO, but they don't resonate with me as much as FemShep did.... does.

Now, whenever a game gives me a choice, I play female first. Then maybe try out the male. Maybe.

I have no idea why I wrote all that, it just wanted to get out. You guys benefit (or suffer) from me not having a blog. I guess what I'm saying is, yes, we need more female gamers. Driving them away for any reason is just not cool.

edit before I hit submit: I see that guy apologized. Stand up move.

I know I promised some pics of Maria, but the happy and cheeky post I have sitting in my open Notepad just doesn't seem appropriate right now. Maybe later.

Seeing your pictures makes me realize how much I miss that outfit. It looked so regal and professional. For ME3 I have Devi wearing this most of the time:

Figured that since the galaxy is finally at war against the Reapers, formalities and dress regulations are more laxed. Although I am glad that the game automatically makes Shepard don the formal attire for diplomactic situations:

I like how you designed Anya's face by the way. I'm always partial to the hooked nose and short hairstyle.

Its really interesting to hear your perspective.  I'm a chick and I play femshep because... its just my natural tendency.  I would probably play mshep for variety, but I saw my boyfriend play most of the game as mshep so that wouldn't really be new content.

This has me wondering.  How many guys are in this thread?  I see tons of femshep profile pictures but I just realized that is probably no indication of gender.

i am male and i play fem!Shep to spit in the eye of tradition, which basically says that the hero of any story has to be male.

@sagequeen I really enjoyed reading your open letter to Bioware. As a female gamer, thank you for wording everything I'm feeling so perfectly and eloquently. And I completely share Syrdeth's sentiments about you. One of these days, I'm going to have to disagree with you on something. But for right now, you're just tops in my book.

And on to a rather disappointing note—Aislin, please don't leave! I feel like I may have jinxed the thread with my last post (an ode and fanfare to the awesome-ness that is contained in this femshep thread). :( I really don't think anyone is at fault here. Demonhoopa seemed sincere in his apology. I think it was just poor communication and that we should move forward (with more femshep spam, of course).

Let me start:

Just recently finished curing the genophage (this is my second run) and Lou, my femshep, is beginning to feel the effects of this dumb war.

 Gah! She's so cute.
~~

A couple of other people talked about whether they based their Shepard on themselves or someone else. To answer that, I rarely ever craft characters that resemble me physically or personality wise. I do, however, tend to create characters that have certain qualities I aspire and look up to. Compared to Devi, my main Femshep, I'd come across as a cantankerous villain. It would be nice to be like her though.:bandit:

I do have to say this. Of all the things that Bioware stated before release, the one thing they were dead on accurate about was how much more human Shepard would be. Every decision Kendra made, I could see it weighing on her more and more. And because she was Renegade, everytime someone asked her about it, she would bottle it up and just say "I'm fine. It's nothing." because that's what the Renegade option did. I started to feel real sympathy for her. But, I committed to the Renegade path for her all the way back in ME1 and I wanted to see it through. But, dang, did she have it rough.
NanNoir, your Shep looks great. More please. :)

I'm one of them.

I played FemShep at first for the eyecandy aspect.  (Guilty as charged!)  Then after that I did a play through with Sheploo, I found him to be a flatter interpretation of the character.  So now, my preferance is for FemShep, just because how the character was performed in the first game was much better.

Oh, and with the marketing for the second, she felt more like my creation.

From what I've seen so far gender seems to be split almost down the middle. But that depends on who is activate at the moment. As for the regulars, its pretty 50/50.

That is the Cult of Femshep for you. Being in all kinds into our collective.

 Uuuuggggghhhhhh.....

Sometimes, I think I almost see a pattern to it. I think I almost see what the plan was, and how it went wrong, but maybe I'm completely hallucinating. Maybe I'M in the indoctrination. I start to I think I get where it was supposed to go, but how it derailed. but then the pattern shifts, and I lose it all.

It is over two weeks since I finished this game and it still hurts so baaadddd....
