I like how you designed Anya's face by the way. I'm always partial to the hooked nose and short hairstyle.
Thank you!
And I completely agree. I wanted to give her face a certain severity, but also some more classically beautiful traits (i.e. the big lips, eyes, etc.). She doesn't think of herself as beautiful, and isn't really aware of how striking her features are, despite what Kaidan says (hah). But that's mainly because she doesn't let herself think about it, because she doesn't want it to influence how she thinks about herself or interacts with others.
Anyway, typing that made me realize that I just jumped into this thread and starting spamming my Shepard everywhere with no real introduction!
Anja Shepard is a Colonist and Sole Survivor, so she's seen a lot of loss in her life. She was an only child, and her mother was Russian and her father was German. They were ecological scientists and, of course, farmers on Mindoir. She used to have long, wavy red hair, and once she joined the Alliance military, took to wearing it in a long, low braid which became something of a trademark for her as she quickly made a reputation for herself.
But after what happened on Akuze, she cut it all off and never looked back. She never let that experience dull her capacity for empathy, however. As an unrepentent Paragon, she always makes an effort to get to know her crew and those whose lives are in her hands. Her worst nightmare would be a repeat of what happened to her squad on Akuze, and she's vowed to herself never to let anything like that happen again. This makes her fiercely protective of those she cares about. She took Ashley's loss incredibly hard, and has a healthy dose of survivor's guilt after her revival in ME2, considering her past.
She remained loyal to Kaidan throughout all three games. He was just the perfect match for her; her grounding force, but also someone with whom she shares mutual respect and admiration. She admires his control and intelligence, he admires her charisma and leadership abilities. They both admire each other's biotic abilities (she is a Vanguard). By Mass Effect 3, their love has deepened into something truly strong and enduring.
Aaand here are some pictures!

I honestly can't say how glad I am that this thread exists. I know it sounds super cheesy, but I didn't even realize how much I needed a place like this to show off my Femshep and see all of yours, who care as deeply about your own Shepards and their faces and stories. All my dude friends who play Mass Effect just use the default Sheploo and have no desire to hear me go on about this stuff (and my boyfriend is DEFINITELY sick of it, hahaha) so I needed SOME sort of outlet because I really put a lot of thought and time into my version of who Shepard is. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one!
I don't play her as myself... but she has come to represent a lot of what I want to be as a woman. I've honestly found that trying to act like her IRL has made me able to carry myself with more poise and confidence, and if nothing else, makes me think more before I open my mouth.
ANYWAY hi guys
