I
am not an infrequent visitor. It lacks the art of the femshep thread,
though. The first 40 pages don't even have any pictures, lol.

Because
EDI was born in the shadows on the Moon, she reminds me very much of
the book "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" by Robert A. Heinlein, the book
he considers his best work, and the most moving story about AI I've ever
seen, which is why I could never pick the Destroy ending. I feel like
EDI came from innocence, not only that she is the daughter of humanity's
technological intelligence, but that femshep is her mother, because at
the end EDI says that it's because of her interaction with Shepard that
she feels alive. It may be that Shepard never has children, then EDI is
the closest she gets.
I think Grunt fits that role better. My Shep definitely felt a
mine factor whenever it came to him. She let him out the tank which was
esentially his birth, taught him to control himself like a scolding mom,
and help him get through puberty (the rite of passage). My Shep was
definitely proud of him in ME3 for being in charge of his own squad
which was made possible by Shepard's intervention.
The Grunt factor made Garrus' comment of krogan babies hilarious and even more bitter sweet to me.
