I've read every background and I love how all our FemSheps are so fleshed out and different and
just awesome. Seriously, I love them all, such awesome stories!
Anyway, I decided to re-introduce Jennifer, my canon FemShep
Jennifer Shepard
Jennifer was actually my very first Shepard, however, she's changed drastically. From appearance to personality to even her class. At first, she had her hair down, and was an infiltrator, a pure paragon, a spacer and a war hero. When I made her, I didn't have in mind to RP her, or flesh her out. She was an avatar I used to see the game, pure and simple really, until she started to grow her own personality, and became her own person. So the hair was gone, replaced by a tight bun, and she became an Adept.
She was born a spacer, and early in her career became a war hero. Jenn's views on the alliance are close to reverence. The Alliance was her life from a very young age, with both her mom, Hannah Shepard, and Dad, John Shepard, being Alliance veterans.
While she'd always respected her parents, and the alliance, it wasn't her first choice as a career path. During her early teen years, Jennifer developed an affinity to all things related to drawing and art, however, due to her biotic powers, it was near impossible for her to actually get accepted in art school, so after quite a bit of convincing from her parents she joined the Alliance Military Academy on Arcturus.
She was soon recognized for her abilities as a soldier, and a biotic, which ultimately lead to her being chosen for the N7 program. Then the events of Elysium happened…etc.etc.etc.
Jennifer is my perfect soldier (who's sort of in decline). She's diplomatic (and manipulative when need be),
calculating, intelligent and pragmatic to many extents while not sacrificing her ideals. She's a good leader, and is quite charismatic, believing that the power of words is as strong as the bullets she shoots out of her gun, but doesn't hesitate to use her gun when words fail. She's also excellent at compartmentalizing, which helps her maintain conscious differentiation between her off duty and on duty selves.
On a personal level, Jennifer is supportive and caring to her friends and close ones, but isn't open
about anything related to herself. She prefers dealing with her own issues herself, by compartmentalizing and analyzing her feelings when it's convenient. It's a trait she'd developed during the amount of times she spent alone without her parents when they were deployed as well as the ups and downs and struggles with being a biotic.
She's had her share of skirting the regs, especially during the early years of being a soldier, and had her wild side; Drinking (in moderation mind you, those were not good with her biotics), dancing, strip poker, bar brawls and losing bets that ended up with her having to streak through the hallway of an hotel on Elysium. She's never outright broken them though, especially the fraternization regs, because no good ever came from that. There was an unspoken set of rules between Alliance officers when it came to fraternization:
Don’t do it, and if you do, don't get attached, and if you get attached, request a transfer.
Jennifer never needed to request a transfer, before Kaidan Alenko. In her defense, she never did realize what was happening until it was too late. She'd gotten attached, before she fraternized, and she was put in a position where she couldn't request a transfer, not until Saren was captured. She fully intended to request a transfer once the operation was over, and Saren was captured, because she wasn't willing to give up Kaidan.
She never regretted it though, Kaidan Alenko became many things to Jennifer in the short time they'd known each other on the SR1. He was a strong, disciplined biotic, something which she respected immensely. He was also her normal, he was her follower, but didn't need her guidance, he had his problems but didn't need her to fix them, he was just… there. And Jennifer never knew she needed that in her life, for someone to just be there until she tried it herself. He was her one selfish spot, she wanted him for her, and she isn't ashamed of it.

After the events of ME2, particularly her death and return, Jennifer's struggles began to surface. She was still the
strong, intelligent, and excellent leader, like she'd always been, but the cracks began to form. Her death, despite her denial, broke her and frightened her in ways she'd never imagined possible. The nothingness she faded into freaked her out, but she tries her best to compartmentalize it and not deal with it until the war is over, because any semblance of sanity she has left would be lost and gone if she tried to ponder on the fact that she died and returned. It did make her see one thing, her time in the galaxy is limited, and the galaxy as big and badass as it is, will most likely not give her another chance, so she became more resolute and determined to see this war through to the end, which is why her renegade bar filled up a bit more in ME2.
If you want to read her story, I finally decided to start posting my fanfic (Shameless self
plugging)
