Little Wing.

Those two pics just blew me away...Beauty and Tragedy are so well captured in the first one.

Yes I remember thinking there were so many great shots that I could have taken on Palaven Moon but I always felt I had to rush, you know with the war on and all!. I also wished that I could have unholstered my gun for some shots of my Shep against the burning of Palaven.

Shepard and Liara just look so gorgeous as well as Lady Benezia on the 2nd one.

I loved it when I saw Benezia in that scene

Have read a lot of the bios. Great reads, saw a lot of colonist Sheps. Many interesting interpretations on that origin. Anyway, late to the game, but here goes ...

Mindoir: Urania Jane (UJ) Shepard grew up on the colony planet of Mindoir. She was the leader of a group that terrorized the colony through pranks and general mischievous behavior. She smoked cigarettes, pot, drank bourbon, and cursed like a hardened Alliance vet. On the day of the raid she was alone w/ her girlfriend, Delilah, just a couple of miles outside the colony. By the time they were half way to the colony, UJ and her Delilah saw the smoke and heard the screaming. Delilah ran toward the colony, UJ tried to grab her to take her back to her parent’s ranch outside of the colony. Six Batarians grabbed Delilah. They beat her and then stood around talking and laughing. UJ cried out and two of the Batarians rushed in her direction. UJ fled and as she ran she could hear Delilah screaming her name. The Batarians beat, raped and killed Delilah. UJ made it to the mountains and hid out there until an Alliance patrol picked her up. Neither her parents nor friends survived the raid.

Broken: UJ was taken to hospital on earth where she spent a year of psychological counseling and care. Prone to severe mood swings, UJ went from violent outbursts, (cutting an orderly on three different occasions), to deep depression and guilt. Eventually, due to lack of funds and w/ no family to support her, UJ was released and deemed “stable enough.” She drifted from planet to planet and even flirted w/ becoming a freelance merc. She then remembered the Alliance marines who had rescued her back on Mindoir and decided the military was the means for her revenge.

Alliance Service: Upon joining the Alliance, UJ devoted her life to revenge, and wanted nothing more than to kill every alien she saw, especially Batarians. With that goal in mind, she stopped drinking and smoking and honed her body and mind into a killing machine. She underwent biotic training and was classified as a vanguard. Months later, while scouting for Slavers, UJ and her patrol came upon a small group of Batarians. They engaged in hostile fire. Three died and one surrendered. The captured Batarian gave the location of the Raiders hold and begged to be spared. Without a word or provocation, UJ pounced on the Batarian and began to beat him with the butt of her rifle. Her patrol cheered her on as she struck the alien again and again. Finally, the Batarian dead, she looked up and saw the blood on her hands and face. She saw the look of her comrades, some cheering, others simply stunned. It was then she realized that she had become the very thing she hated. The incident was whitewashed and UJ was ordered to undergo a psychological review. Over the next few years, Shepard slowly let go of her hate through training, friendships and philosophy. The Alliance became her new family and she swore to protect them at any cost.

Conduct Unbecoming: Lt. Urania Jane Shepard was finally given her own command. She was informal w/ her squad and became close w/ several of her comrades. With one squad member, Isabelle Shan, she became a little too close. She and Shan entered into an affair that lasted almost a year. Later Shepard ended her affair w/ Shan for the interest of both parties. Shan requested a transfer and the two never saw each other again.

Akuze: Shepard lead a platoon of Alliance marines to search for a colonial pioneer team on Akuze. Unfortunately, the whole thing was a trap set up by the rogue black ops agency, Cerberus. Her entire squad was killed by a Thesher Maw. Over half were wiped out in the first attack. The young Lieutenant tried to rally the rest, but as the attacks commenced they were either drug under or died from the burns sustained by the Maw’s acid. Shepard managed stay alive using her determination and biotics. Eventually, when she was the last marine, UJ hid among the burnt bodies, sustaining burns of her own. She remained silent and still among the dead bodies until the maw eventually went away three days later. Shepard called for an evac which took another three days.

N7: UJ received both a commendation as a hero and an N7 recommendation after the events of Akuze. In her eyes she had failed, but the Alliance needed a figure to hold up to ensure people that their colonies were safe. It was political BS and she knew it. She never found out who sent the recommendation, though she had her suspicions. After talking w/ her councilor, she took the offer. If she washed out, so be it. If she made it, then she could honor her fallen comrades. UJ ranked as the number one N7 recruit. She was then tapped as XO to Captain David Anderson of the SSV Normandy. Something about a colony in trouble.

How does your Shepard feel about Joker. I know there are people who dislike Joker after ME2 with the whole "He got me killed" thing but how does Shepard feel about her brittle boned pilot?

Joker: After this is all over, I bet if you and Liara got together in a vid you would outsell Vaenia by like, tons.
UJ: One of these days ...

UJ views Joker as the annoying little brother who she sometimes would like to strangle, but ultimately loves. Though she may not admit it, at times she enjoyed the verbal sparring w/ Joker. It was a pleasant distraction. She doesn't blame him for what happened when the Collectors attacked, but sometimes wonders what he feels about it.

The journey from Teacher and student to best friends and equal is one of the best things about the series. Though UJ and Garrus would occasionally butt heads on issues of morality, they respected each other immensely and they are best buds. I would dare say that they love each other in a truly platonic nature. I think someone else mentioned this, that you rarely see a platonic relationship develop in popular media, but the femshep/Garrus friendship path is one of the better examples of this very thing.

No it's not a mod. It's on the cycle selection when you access your squad on the terminal in Sheps cabin

@Jamie, and I thought I was a sadist haha.

My femshep's backstory is very similar to yours (i.e. drugs, gangs, loss of a loved one etc. though she's an Earthborn/Ruthless) but it was the humans who ended up screwing her back on Earth and she's held a cynical view of the human race ever since. Which is interesting because in ME3, she finds reason and determination to come back to Earth and save the very race that screwed her over, bringing her story full circle. And what those Batarians did to Delilah, let's just say she was the victim in her case though she survived in the end. She was pretty much about to end her life but she was saved by an individual that went by the name of Shepard. Shepard had a daughter in the Alliance who had just been recently killed on a mission gone horribly wrong. So she lived with Shepard for a while until she died due to an unfortunate event.

Since Avalyn (my femshep's real name) had nothing else to live for at that point, she became Velicity Shepard and decided to carry on Shepard's legacy (since she had no family of her own, having grown up an orphan) and joined the Alliance. Plus she just wanted to get the hell off the ****hole of a planet.....just run away from it all...and keep on running...and never look back...and that's what she's been doing her whole life until the events of Mass Effect. Oh, but she did come back to Earth on a number of occassions to get revenge on everybody who was to be held accounted. And she did. It was violent.

I'll post her complete backstory here one of these days.

 Wow...lots of stuff I missed that went on here...

well...

Joker: My Shepards like him like he's brother but that doesn't mean that they don't let him know when he needs to shut up and be serious...particularily after Thessia( which the next stop for Gianna) and situation actually didn't turn out so well for Allison as she was totally pissed about the situation...but thankfully they made up before the finale on earth. 


Garrus: As primarily a garrus-mancer( 5 of my 6 sheps are Garrus-mancers) I have to say that I LOVE the development of his relationship with Shepard and the romance between him and femshep is awesome. I do agree the relationship goes from student/mentor to a more comrade in arms atleast pre-romance to probadly one of the more cute/arkward relationship beginning ever with the 'da smirk' scene and garrus' subsequent flailing though I foudn the ME 2 relationship to be more humorous atleast til the pre-suicide mission scenes where you find out that garrus is just broken and Shepard is as much a rock to him as he and has been to her.

This was a great read, I've always been curious to hear more of your Shepard's story/personality because her face really intrigued me!

Also, I LOVE those sketches you did of her as a teenager. I've been itching to do the same for Anja (and have done some quick scribbled ones, but keep meaning to take the time to do a really nice, fully rendered portrait or photomanip of her).

Allison is chaotic good.

Alicia is chaotic good before the citadel coup and chaotic neutral afterwords.

Gianna is chaotic good.

My next femshep Gabriella is chaotic evil since she was renegon( max renegade, 50% paragon) in ME 2.

Kendra is also a Colonist, but she has the Ruthless profile. Reading your writeup shows me that I have a lot of gaps to fill in mine. You also gave me lots of ideas. Where UJ realized her failings and corrected them, Kendra did not.

Maria is Lawful Good, without question. Yes, boring, I know.

Kendra... wow, I read the description of all of those and with ME1 she is borderline Neutral Evil. But, over time she has softened somewhat and is now Chaotic Neutral with Chaotic Good tendencies. As far as her crew goes, she is Neutral Good towards them. They are her new family after Mindoir. This happened over the course of ME1 and beyond.

Kira - Slides between  Neutral Good and  Chaotic  Good.    Kira is Techincal Pasficist with a troubled past... don't ever hit her Beserker button... EVER.

Nathaniel  -  Slides between  Neutral Good to Lawful good.   Nathaniel is more of a Guile Hero.
