He slams me against the wall, pinning me there with a forearm pressed against my chest. I am not in the mood for another ****ing fight.
“What the ****, man? You said I was gonna be a leader!” I spit the words at him as best I can. The gash on my lips means I can only talk out the side of my mouth.
“And you will be.”
“Then why the **** I gotta wait in line with the rest of these dregs?”
“These 'dregs' are the newest recruits for-”
“What a joke... Most of these 'recruits' barely look like they can read or write!”
“Then they've got something to learn by being here, just like you.” He releases me.
“The hell do I have to learn? I know how to read.” I'm so ****ing tired. And hungry... My face is throbbing and my hands are shaking but I'll be damned if I'm gonna let him see me weak.
“You, little thief, are going to learn what it means to work for something greater than yourself.”
So he does remember me.
“That's why you're here, right?” He puts his hands behind his back. 'At ease' I think they call it. Like either one of us is ****ing 'at ease.' “Or did you change your mind? You planning on crawling back to that so-called 'life' of you've got?” He reaches out and flicks a strand of my hair. “See what the Reds ha-”
I slap his hand out of the way. “Look at my face. Do I look like I'm still a Red? Like I've got anywhere else to go?” ****, my mouth is killing me.
“Not good enough.” He shakes his head.
I'm working on hate right now. “What the fu-”
“You have to choose this life, little thief.”
I hate him. I wish I could hate him to death. “I just said I didn't have any other ****ing options!” Ow. Avoid ‘F’ words ‘til your lips are healed, dummy.
“Lesson number one in being a leader,” he jams his finger in my face. “You may not like your options, you may not see any other way out, but there is always choice. And you have to choose this life, young lady. You have to commit. If you're walking a road just because you've got nowhere else to be, it will eat you alive. If I had to guess? You became a Red because you didn't have any other options. And that's why your face is looking like it does right now.”
It's like someone's thrown a bucket of cold water on me. I can barely stand up.
He slowly nods. “So? What'll it be? Red? Or Blue?”
I stand there for a minute, ‘cause I can’t really do much else. I don't know how, but I command my legs to straighten. If I close my eyes I might fall asleep, but I click my heels together and give him a salute. “I'm in.”
“'I'm in...'”
****. “I'm in... sir.”
“What's your name, recruit?”
“Ali-cat... uh... Alice, sir. Alice Shepard.”
“Shepard, then.” He steps back and salutes me. “Welcome to the Alliance.”

Kind of jerkish, renegade but not quite evil, proud of her skills, pragmatic and distrustful. She's only attached to very few people and generally kills without remorse.
Nonetheless, she tries to do her best to protect what and who she cares about. She feels like she was born to be a killing machine, but she's not as icy as she looks. That's about it.

Krogans were screwed from the get-go. No Wrex, no data, no Eve, no cure. If she wasn't already pro-genophange, getting an email on my iPhone from Wreav declaring that he was going to kill Mordin for where he cut would have cinched it. (Wreav was a non-stop ass.) Poor Mordin -- he really wanted to fix his mistake, but it was such a lost cause that he went to work on the Crucible instead.
The geth replacement for Legion basically had the same lines throughout, but I was struck by how much more warmth Legion offered in comparison. I hadn't appreciated the writing until then. Tali had been exiled from previous game, but was brought back for her expertise in geth. While on the dreadnaught, Shepard expressed surprise that they let Tali come along on the misson. Admiral Tali would have said something about it being her responsibility. Exiled Tali dimissively shrugged, "Why? They'd just lose an exile." Ouch. She had a chance of rejoining her people if their world was successfully recaptured. I did side with the quarians and destroyed the geth. Tali got promoted to Ambassador to help coordinate actions on behalf of the fleet, evacuate colonies, bolster turian defenses, etc so it ended well for her.
I didn't let Kai Leng be responsible for anyone's death this time because I was curious what Shepard would say when she omnibladed his gut: "No gunship this time, you son of a ****."
Whenever Judith spoke with TIM, I had to do some tapdancing in picking the right lines. I still wanted her to agree with TIM, but naturally the game was railroading my choices. So I'd go for "hey, just let us kill the reapers" type of responses instead of "you're a delusional nutbag" ones. I thought control was fitting in the end because she's been burned just by everyone AND NOOOW she was in a position to burn everyone by being the ULTIMATE GOD OF REAPERS. =p
Heh, like I said, trainwreck of a game, but highly entertaining. I can't wait to see the extended ending for this playthrough. =p
"Get out of my chair." "Pfft."

"Why I believe I will!"

This screenshot has no value other than to show an interesting glitch with the Cerberus helmet on the beam run. Figured very few people would get to see this first-hand. =p

Brilliant line. Simply brilliant. And I thoroughly enjoyed the rest too!
Edit because I have space for brains.

Do people replay their Sheps, or only create new ones? If you do replay them, do they make different decisions?

I've replayed my canon twice (for a total of three games). The major decisions I've made don't change (genophange, geth/quarian, ending, etc), but I may pick a paragon line instead of a renegade line here and there, depending on my mood. Also I know how to maximize my war assets better so I will change the smaller decisions to increase my output. I'll have the biotic students be on the front line instead of being back-ups because I get more war assets that way. It doesn't change the outcome whichever way Shepard decides so this is not really a big deal, imo. I know which authorizations to skip at the spectre terminal because you can lose war assets by approving some decisions. Just little stuff like that. I stay true to my Shepard's original choices. The rest are just minor details.Wulfram wrote...

@Wulfram - I only have Alice, so all my playthroughs so far have been with her. I tweak and modify her decisions with a little meta-gaming to make the playthrough more "hers", since what I might pick and what she might pick may differ.

good question. I feel like I am a queen of replay. Probably not the only one who does this, but in many ways, my current shep is the evolution of all my 'new' sheps into one, main shep. I kept reworking her looks, decisions an so on until I got to what felt like 'the real Shepard' to me.
I've posted these before, but I still like to look at the progression. sadly, me3 is not *quite* looking like i want yet:

WAY back original shep, uber paragon

Alt I didn't like, too renegade

Playthrough that inspired fanfic, but didn't quite 'feel' right since i was still deciding on characterization

Mah girl. (she's actually Kaidan-faithful, I just like that screenshot)

^Only decent ME3 pic I have of her yet.

My soldier, Asche got replayed three times in ME1 because I wanted her to be max level for ME2 and I am a completionist. Each time through the difficulty was bumped up. Asche went through ME2 twice, so I could experience insanity. Same with ME3.
The decisions I made with her were about the same, altho the final games in each series I made her a smidge more renegade because the "WOW" factor was over and I stopped bleeding into her psyche.
Same with Evie as a vanguard, altho I never did ME2 with her on insanity. I was too skeered.

Actually No...since I hav 6 femsheps...2 of which are still in ME 2. I haven't been able to do any replays...though canon 'Allison' will be replayed through the trilogy...
New one of Gianna...

New one of current ME 2 femshep: Selena...

I know, not much point really since there is no game to transfer the save-files to (at the moment) but I can't help it
Also, I just started Bailie. Not sure where i'm going with her yet gameplay-wise, but we'll see

Well, I have one femshep (Margaret Emma) that I replay without changing anything, except for some dialogue. And the end of ME3 until I found a fitting match regarding TIM death/Final choice. But I have others maleshep who are more "experimental", one for renegade, one for neutral, just to see... but in my eyes, they don't really matter to me (ok, except my renegade shepard who feels like he is a funny male alternative of Margaret).

I constantly replay my main characters with various results 50% of the time; it all depends on where i put most of my focus (peope/altruist or mission/selfish).Wulfram wrote...

I'm looking forward to remaking some prettier Shepards and whatnot eventually, when time allows. I BARELY made it in time to get Esperanza remade for 3, since the boyfriend got me 1 and 2 in early February for my birthday. I suspect Esperanza will have the most replay value because... Well. Vanguard combat is fun. Buuuuut my renegade Kaidanmancing adapt and pure paragon Thanemancing sentinel should have their full trilogy runs eventually.

It's not a perfect fix yet, but I am impressed. And hoping to see a fully polished 'fixer' sometime in the future.

Umm...that's what an import should look like! It's now pretty clear, that making faces in ME3 look like their previous counterparts was not impossible, they just failed to do it.
DJ's Lena after Lazarus Utility:

The old ME2 eye shape and cheek roundness which is actually impossible to create in the new CC, is mostly restored.
I know at this point, most people have moved on, or have come to like the new versions of their Shep.
If anyone else is like me though, this is awesome. Just spreadin' the word because I appreciate the hard work being put into this.

All of my Sheps went through ME1 and 2 at least twice. I need at least two playthroughs to figure out their nuances. I know what major decisions they will pick, but the second time is to get the dialogue choices that I want for them.Wulfram wrote...

ME3, I've played one of my Shepards once. The reasons should be obvious.

Wow, I'm jealous. I really envy the PC players who can take advantage of that. :/
It's mostly the eye shape changes that annoy me. I really can't find a single new eye shape that I'm entirely pleased with. Hair, too. I would give anything to be able to use that hairstyle you gave to Drea in ME3.

I have my cannon, Renee, who's on her second run through. She went through a few iterations in both ME1 and ME2. I'm going to run my sentinel turned vanguard through eventually, and then a few others.
