Booo! Give us Liara not Kaiden. Who cares about Kaiden.

I care

Liara already has enough screentime everywhere.

Why am I even arguing?:pinched:

Anyway, it's about damntime my Kaibear got some screen time, and if a tiny glimpse of one of the romance scenes make it in there, I'll squee my heart out.

EDIT: I thought I should point out that I have no actual favorite character since I pretty much adore every single damn character including the villains, Liara's no exception. The only FemSHep I love as much as I love Jennifer (my main) is Rachel who's a Liaramancer.

Totally agree,  I think many of us do as well.  After playing her in the demo doing any trailer after would feel lazy and token after having played her in an in game environment already.  It takes away the magic of it as we already experienced it.

If for whatever they dont release it before the demo the only way they would be able to top the demo experience would be a full blown CGI trailer.  No matter how much I want and dream about it happening I know its unrealistic.  =]

Yeah, whether it's Kaidan, Liara, Garrus, or someone else, romance isn't needed in the FemShep trailer.  I'd rather keep that stuff a semi surprise for the game, anyway.

So, soon as a possible date for the trailer means actually soon, now, as opposed to far away soon, right???

I kinda agree with this more. Seriously, I adore Kaidan but I want to be blown away when I see those scenes in game, I want FemShep kicking ass.

I wouldn't say no to a glimpse or two tho...:o

Out of curiosity, how many resources are we taking into the game, anyone know?

I mean, do credits count? Iridium? Eezo?

Paragon Renegade points?

We did get confirmation about keeping our collected model ships, which I think is quite critical. Just wondering about the rest.

I can understand the resetting and everything, but loosing the cabin decorations? I'd rather not. Previous game love interest, ships, old helmet, tags, and even that stupid sphere show my FemSheps have done things.

0 credits in the beginning?! THIS BREAKS MY IMMERSION! Kallen makes a ton of money in ME2 and then puts it inher SAVINGS after the mission. The aliiance draining her savings would make her go "screw the Galaxy" and hide away and watch as the alliance is crushed under the might of a Reapers.

*stares at Silverman's Twitter with rather large eyes* My friends, this is a time of great awesome. I could be wrong, but like TMA I suspect that next Tuesday might just bring us our FemShep trailer. Either way, I would like to HIGH-FIVE THE THREAD! :D

Seriously, this thread makes me forget how negative BSN can be. It's all friendly, even when people disagree, and it's full of pictures of my favorite video game heroine in so many incarnations. Makes me wish I knew more people IRL who love FemShep and other kickass females, but if I can't have that, at least I'm here. :)

Alanosborn1991 wrote...
Hey Wynne can I get the facecode on your Ryla FemShep please?
No matter what I do I fail at making her

That might be because she's an import; I went to look for the face code for you in the game, then Gibbed and there wasn't one! :/ I had forgotten that I didn't tinker with her face.
The good news is, I did upload her to the Mass Effect Saves website; just do a page search for "Ryla." You could start a new game with my ME1 save--the choices she made are described in detail; otherwise, if I'm not mistaken, you should be able to export her head with Gibbed and then import it to the save of your choice. :)

Let's do a character map. Feel free to include an image if you'd like

Ooh, this was a brilliant idea! I love it. :)

Name of your Shepard:
Eowyn (My avatar)

Renegade/Paragon/Other: Paragade

List 3 major influences (Famous People, Fictional characters, etc) behind your Shepard:
1. Eowyn (Lord of the Rings)--I liked the idea of her parents (originally conceived as Spacer parents, but I moved to Colonist because I love it the best) being nerds; I could identify with that, but her character is a bit like Eowyn's as well. She's the one who steps into the role no one else is in a position to take up; she longs for glory in battle (Eo's a War Hero) and she's all about the smart takedown. Eowyn was a riddle-solver, a rules-dodger, happy to play the part of the exception; so is mine. She never accepts that there is no way out.

I just love Eowyn's passion--"No living man am I! You look upon a woman! Éowyn I am, Éomund's daughter. Begone if you be not deathless! For living or dark undead, I will smite you, if you touch him!" That's the attitude I was going for.

Like Eowyn, too, she struggles with feelings of isolation, and has to redefine her idea of love. She had real feelings for Kaidan, but then her experiences with Thane changed her view on what a relationship ought to be. Now that she's grown (and now that the LI I intended for her is off the table) I'm not sure who will end up being her Faramir. Maybe Thane, maybe Kaidan, maybe somebody completely new. Depends on ME3's dialogues and other options. I like the uncertainty, really--it feels realistic, dynamic, and way more fun than if I decided beforehand.

2. Ellen Ripley (Alien, Aliens). I remember being in awe of Ripley when I watched the Alien movies with my Dad when I was a teenager. He thought it was cool that she was so determined and smart, and so did I. Ellen is fitting, because I see her as the type who has a strong will to survive, to protect those she can when she can. She refuses to think in black and white. She is constantly seeking the third option, the alternate solution, a more efficient plan of action, just like Ripley, which is how she defeats the Alien Queen in Aliens.  (Heh, she'll be seizing those mechs in ME3 as much as possible... ;) )

That's the kind of problem-solving brain I see Eo as having--a Ripley brain. When things look bleak, she does feel it, but she will make the grim strategy-driven choices without falling apart because she has a very sharp pragmatic center. She does whatever is necessary to save the most lives. When she feels at least 75% sure there's no good outcome to be had by choosing the girl scout option, she will grit her teeth and pull the trigger. How it makes her feel is beside the point to her.

Like Ellen, when there's somebody to protect, she becomes this machine built for calculating the best outcome. She may be scared, she may be shaking in her boots and wanting to curl up in a ball, but she has trained herself not to respond to those emotions by remembering the slavers and trying to be the person she wished was there to protect her and her family. Ripley's drive to protect Newt strengthened her, and Eo's drive to protect those who were like her--helpless and agonized--strengthens her, too.

3. Cassandra (Greek Mythology)--this fits somewhat for all Shepards, as all have a vision and are unable to convince anyone in time to prevent disaster from striking, but I see Eowyn as a person with an added form of vision, to a tragic degree. As a Colonist, she was exposed early to the fact that some tragedies are inevitable. She sees the bigger picture, constantly--it's why she chose to sacrifice the hostages in BDtS. Insight, understanding the nuances even if they hurt and make her look bad, is a big part of her character. Arrival felt like an echo of her personal story. Colonist made it even more emotional. She saved that batarian on Omega.

It makes her a lonely person, though. Not mad like Cassandra, but certainly frustrated. She feels a powerful connection to a fully dead species (the Protheans)... for Eo, it's not just the normal appreciation; it borders on actual love, albeit on a theoretical basis. She feels like they were the protectors of organic life, like they were martyrs, and she actively mourns them a bit when she really thinks about it. She sees them as heroes and dreams of finding a way to revive the species.

Even though she's not insane or unstable, Eo never really questioned the vision she received. She trusts her gut, and her gut always said the Protheans and their beacon were the real deal. She hangs on to those memories, just like the memories of her family members, because that resonates on a primal level with her--a sort of culture only she understands and connects with; a group of people who died senselessly at the whims of a menace they weren't prepared for. Yeah, it's tied to her past and the resulting issues. For her, due to the intense connection the beacon formed in her head, seeing what happened to the Protheans was a little like watching her family die all over again.

Name of your Shepard: Ryla

Renegade/Paragon/Other: Renegon (My other favorite; I have played straight Paragon/Renegade, but I much prefer the mixes)

List 3 major influences (Famous People, Fictional characters, etc) behind your Shepard:
1. Xena, Warrior Princess--The intense blue eyes were a factor, and I even think she looks a little like Lucy Lawless with dark skin, from certain angles. I wanted a character who would flash hot and cold,  a sort of bipolar bisexual--not that those traits necessarily go together, and she's not *actually* bipolar, but she is moody, intense, and fiercely alive.

Liara was her Gabrielle. It's really a perfect dynamic, there.

Ryla was, in the beginning, a borderline racist, sort of like Pressly, and a hardass in danger of spiraling out of control, but then Liara came along and made her want to pull it all together. In my head, she taught Liara the strength and fierceness seen in LotSB, and Liara taught her compassion and how to let her guard down when it counts. (She Paragon-interrupted the heck out of that woman in LotSB.) So, yeah... Xena and Gabrielle, really. It wasn't a conscious choice, but it happened.

2. Vasquez (Aliens)--I liked the idea of an extreme, hardcore woman full of dry sarcasm and wit who would throw herself fearlessly into the fray; hence the Vanguard class was chosen. But Ryla's smart enough and soldier enough, unlike at least one of my Shepards, to not actually go truly Kamikaze unless it's warranted. She's aggressive, but not stupid, and willing to throw herself into danger because it's what she signed up for, just like Vasquez.

3. Rain Ocampo (Resident Evil)--Badass, non-traditional female character cool enough to tell a guy, "Blow me." Tough and, unlike Alice in the later movies, actually convincing at it. Fittingly, her one weakness was love. (If Ryla has a soft spot, it's definitely Liara.) Her tendency to taunt fearlessly is very much a trait she shares with Ryla.

You know, if I get stuck figuring out how a character would react in the future, especially on my ManShep runs, I'm going to outline some "role models" for them. This exercise really helps in roleplaying. Thanks, Jelly! Fantastic idea. :)

It's official. Kaidan in the femshep trailer.

Booo! Give us Liara not Kaidan. Who cares about Kaidan.

I DO. In all honesty, he was never my favorite LI, but he's the most long-term exclusively FemShep LI which many ManShep players won't even have alive. Kaidan was in the past--well, I wanted Garrus in ME1 and in ME2 the drell captivated me. Joker would've been my #1 choice because I love his humor and I thought a handicapped LI would be awesome, especially since he and Shepard have such a moving connection in ME2 where she literally dies for him. Now, Vega is now a strong contender.

Kaidan... at this point, for me, it's more about seeing where it goes and how he's developed than him being my favorite character or anything, but it should still be him. He's "earned" it if any character has. And from what I hear, he gets quite a bit more character development in ME3, which could change my/our perspective(s) on him entirely. I would love it if we got a glimpse of that in the trailer!

Let the poor guy shine for once. He doesn't have an awesome DLC of his own like Liara.

As for kissing, they shouldn't show the elephant. There should be romantic tension, but nothing more than teasing when it comes to actual romance. There may not be a canon romance, but there's no reason not to make it spicy. That just shouldn't be the focus of the trailer. Their dialogue, their relationship, that can have a bit of screen time as far as I'm concerned, but I want them to focus mostly on the whole overarching ME3 plotline of awesomeness, not make it look like A Walk To Remember. This is sci-fi with action! Give me Reapers, space battles, and explosions with FemShep at the wheel.

was back up to insanity by the time i took on the shadow broker, but still. need to get my skills on for MP, since i imagine i won't be able to be quite so tactical and hang out in cover, given what little buzz i've heard about the new baddies.

Me, too--I'm a bit nervous, because I know it'll be harder, but on the upside we'll probably die less from the interface screwing up or being clunky! I don't mind so much if I know it's my tactics and not the fact that I tried to get a better camera angle, and for some reason that made my Shepard's head pop out of cover.

It'll probably be more fun not having to camp in cover so much, though, if the combat is designed that way. Still, I hope that playing an Infiltrator lets you do it a little bit--I love creeping around looking for the perfect angle and dropping a baddie when they least expect it. Admittedly, my first "shooter" was Thief: the Dark Project... stealth gameplay is super-fun for me and I love the feeling of precision-striking the enemy that a sniper rifle brings.

Oh, cool! My dad met Grace Kelly back in the days when he was in the navy. She asked to dine with servicemen who came from Philly, and he happened to be in the right place at the right time. It was so nice of her to extend that invitation to them. I just love her... she really is the incarnation of her name.

There is a chatroom in femshep.ning.com , many of us are hanging in there, just register as a member and there you go! :)

I care about all the character almost equally, without anyone of them we will lose a part of the story. Having more feeling towards a character is very personal, and the words we say may sometime offend others even that wasn't the intention at all. Keep it cool and we are one big family^_^

Trailer, if it makes sense, should be out right before the demo. Between the demo and the releasing date, we should more Sheploo more which to balance out the concentrating femshep promotion. Lets see if I am right on this B)

Great to see that another person's Shep is influenced by Éowyn. She is one of my favourite literary figures, a true heroine in my opinion. I see pieces of her character in a few of my femsheps. Wish I just thought to name one of them after her. Oh well, there's always another playthroughPosted Image

I'd love to do the character map too. I've seen graphical ones on DeviantArt and always wanted to do one. :)

Name of your Shepard:  Celyn

Renegade/Paragon/Other: Paragade

List 3 major influences (Famous People, Fictional characters, etc) behind your Shepard:

Milla Jovovich as Alice in Resident Evil, Ultraviolet, and Joan of Arc; I find her gaze really compelling, even in the roles where there's not much going on(and kinda suck) her eyes says volumes. I envision my Shep to have that power in her eyes. Shep also has a Joan of Arc complex where she says something and no one really believes her, meanwhile she wins battles for them.

Charlize Theron as Aeon Flux; Ultimate commando/infiltrator. Finds herself conflicted once she figures out the truth of her origin.

Lois Lane in Superman; Since the beginning Lois has never just sat down and let things happen, she's always running around trying to uncover the truth and putting herself in jeopardy. While a nice ploy for to become the perfect damself in distress in the comic (and more), Ive always loved her grit, integrety, independance and just plain pig headedness. Whatever it takes she gets her story.

What ticks her off: Batarians. As a survivor of Mindoir she still gets edgy around them. She does not consciously blame all of them, but they easily get under her skin though she hides it.
People who keep her from doing her job, she gets the job done and does so for the good of all, when people attempt to get in the way it frustrates her to no end. Especially if those people are officials.
Anything Cerberus at this point.
