@Jamie -- That's a great analogy. I had forgotten about that scene in Awakenings. Very well handled. I could definitely buy Kelly Chambers feeling that way about Shepard's profession, but it doesn't ring as true with Jacob since he knew the score. It was awkward to see Shepard literally on her knees with Jacob. Just bad implementation. I'm able to handwave this because I know his writer would have done a better job if he stayed on the team. There was just too much dialog and attention to detail to the romance in ME2. Jacob was capable of breaking up with Shepard because he established boundaries upfront and if Shepard crossed them, OK, he was understandably done with her. The ME3 break-up came out of the left field in comparison.

@Greylycantrope -- Welcome!

@LadyAly -- I rarely get comments on my screenshots, too, but it doesn't mean anything. I like looking at other people's screenshots because they're just so damn proud of their Shepards and I especially like it when they add captions of why they liked this screenshot or that scene. Sometimes there's just nothing to say other than nodding and appreciating a screenshot. Keep sharing yours! =p

@nitefyre -- Aye, I agree with you. I was looking at the big picture of all romances being equal. Having one or two (regardless of whom) romances going astray for the sake of realism just seems sloppy when it's so lopsided on FemShep's side and not handled well in the first place.

@Verly -- You've worked so hard on Penny and poured so much love into her, you totally need to have a Penny avatar uploaded because she's such a cool gal. =D

@Saturn -- Yeah, game probably could have used another six months in development for polish. I don't know if I could have lasted another six months though, haha.

@merylisk -- IIRC, I used chaptersave in Gibbed for the very very beginning and saved as save001. Autosave for the rest of the game. I used an autosave right before the RGB choices to make my final save. I'm hoping I can just load up that final save and go right to the extended endings without having to start all over again from the autosave at the ship after the credits roll.

Not my canon Shepard, but my pro-Cerberus gal who is my second favorite Shepard. I love the control ending with her because it's so dramatic and easy to get nice shots with. (Blowing the tubes up has the fire opposite of Shepard, which is a bit tough to capture and sythesis just has Shepard in freefall.) These screenshots are flycam shots.


Look at the grimace on Shepard's face as she struggles to gain control. That's my girl! Control ending screenshots are really elegant and magnicifent. I have a whole folder full of screenshots dedicated to this alone. =D

Control has a lot of awesome, heartbreaking shots. I... hate to say it, but I think it's my favorite. The one I went with for my canon, anyway. No flycam, so much "MY BABY! Look at her struggle to hold onto the thing that's ripping her apart!" Part of why I like it is it's... very active, visually. It's not like firing a gun straight ahead or swandiving into a light. Shepard really has to fight to hang on to that damn thing.




Too depressing! Have a token shot from the romance scene instead!

On my very first play through I chose control also, though I was second guessing and hating myself for it later because it let the reapers live. There was just something about not only shep's harsh death but the way the reapers glowed blue and ascended back into space that was haunting and more poignant to me than their falling over dead in Destroy.

Edit: Control also has some horrifying implications that could come with it that really adds to the dark story element. For my thoughts during the final mission the first time through was Shepard gave her life to have the opportunity to enforce a onetime command the reaper's couldn't disobey to give the current cycle a second chance or time to rebuild itself to become stronger. On another hand, thinking about it later, if Shep had become part of the catalyst then her conscious is floating around space with nothing but the reapers to keep her company as she watches over the galaxy.  How could her mind stay sane?  How long would it take before a semblance of the cycle of synth vs. organic repeats itself? Would she eventually see reason with the reapers and restart the cycle to preserve all life?

As for the romances...yeah, they were executed poorly for the most part. Thane was always interesting to me and I had a ME2 character for him halfway through the game but dropped her when I saw the treatment his romance got in ME3. It was horrible how he only has one conversation wheel the entire game. It never changes so you can visit him and spill your frustrations out about the current missions or get an update on his health progress or his son. I would have thought you would have a good heart to heart chat with Kolyat too since he is basically your family now.

As for Jacob...I saw the videos of his reunion and shep really is embarrissing in them. A good yelling match after the whole escape mission would have been better.

I have yet to look up or experience Kaidan's romance though so I can't comment on him.

Thane's my next runthrough's romance, though her I want to start in 1, kill Kaidan off after starting to romance him, and paragon through 1 & 2. Recreating a favorite.

I also have an ME2 only Kaidan renegade runthrough who looks tempting, if only because I don't have to wallow through ME1's combat and the SAME LEVEL WITH DIFFERENT BOXES OVER AND OVER.

Hah, the combat in ME1 and constant running back and forth makes me want to /head desk/ so badly. To avoid playing through the pain over and over I have 3 sheps I have played through it and when I want a new one for ME2 I just gibbed edit one of them and make a new file by changing the name, flags, and class. Then I recreate their face when I fire it up.

Yes, auto and chaptersave. Can just grab the autosave and resave it to Save_0001 after you're done editing it, it'll just start from the intromovie.

Same. This is what I did: While in opening cutscene, I alt+tab out of the game, open the AutoSave for that new game in gibbed. I leave it open. Alt+tab back to the game. Then when you get to the vancouver save point, I save the game twice. alt+tab BACK out of the game and into gibbed and save the currently open autosave on top of save # 1 AND save #2. I usually close the game now.

I then leave save #1 as my vanilla shep. mod save #2 to taste. load up game save #2 (making sure cloud saves are either off or i'm using local data) and check changes. note what i want to change. exit game (sometimes hard kill it from task manager, um. yeah, bad sage) gibbed edit again, rinse, repeat.

painful, painful stuff, but it does have enough good cutscene time to truly get a good look at what you're doing and if it needs adjusting.

Just saw your Esperanza slideshow and loved it. Heck yes to the Everlast music, one of my favorite artists. I'm been thinking of doing something along the lines of this for my shep since I've been collecting so many snapshots.

How do you change Shepard's casual outfit in the intro? For some reason, it's not working when I try to do it in gibbed the normal way (i.e. edit the Casual ID in the Raw tab).

In some ways, ME2 really does appear graphically superior.

Completely agree. I like destroy best for emotional "f you and f you and f you" reasons, but control also wins for reasons you've listed.

Looks nice in screenshots yet it's pretty darn sad moment. I don't think I can pick any other option than red (obviously) but for the reason too that I like to think that Shepard survived.
