Oh man, great answers, you guys! This was exactly what I was hoping for!

Maybe it's weird, but I'm super interested in hearing this stuff, and it makes me really happy that other people put as much care and thought into their characters as I do. It's awesome to have a community where we can share this kind of stuff.

I actually first made Anja on my friend's Xbox. I remember thinking I wanted her to have a prominent nose and a strong jaw/cheekbones, and a really slender, elegant neck. Kinda Sigourney Weaver-ish, but with fuller lips and more of a Roman nose.

I didn't get very far in that game before I decided to move cross-country, so I obviously couldn't keep playing on that same friend's Xbox. Last summer, I finally got a new computer that I could actually game on, and got Mass Effect for reals and started over. I tried to recreate Anja from memory, because I really liked the face I made, and that's how the current incarnation of Anja was born.

Posted Image

Pretty much all my characters in every game I play tend to have prominent cheekbones, and high nose bridges. I feel like it's the best way to give a face that quality that is striking, but still says "Don't even think about ****ing with me."

This is Mara Hawke.
Posted Image

And Esme, the Hero of Ferelden.
Posted Image

With Naomi, I knew I wanted to make her look kinda Asian, and have darker hair/features and a more classically "pretty" face. I also wanted her to look very distinct from Anja, so I tried to avoid using any of the same options in the CC.

Posted Image

As far as lookalikes go, I tried to make my Trooper in SW:TOR look as much like Anja as possible (for obvious reasons, lol). My results were mixed… there's no option for a hooked nose + lips like hers, and none of the short hair options are curly, so I kinda wound up just going for the same vibe instead.

This is the result... Madilyn Fen.
Posted Image

I guess I'm partial to auburn hair and freckles, because I have both, hahaha.

Thank You but how would you be able to pull that off and secondly what does PM mean? (Sorry I'm an Acura Technician so I'm not up to date on computer lingo)

Yeah as Saturn said, send me a Private Message via this forum =)
And I'd need a facecode. (Or one of your saves, if you managed to pull one in your modding endeavors), I can take it from there. Plus optionally you know, if you've got certain shots you really want to have, tell me which to get where etc =)

I will be sending you that message later today. It's going to be strange seeing pics of her that I didn't take

Question of the day (I know this has
been asked in different forms, but whatever, and I feel like we have
enough fresh blood in here now that it's worth re-visiting):

Do
you tend to make similar faces in every game you play with a CC? i.e.
does your FemShep have a distant cousin in Skyrim, or a long-lost twin
in Dragon Age, or a look-alike in SW:TOR, etc.?

And on that note,
who do you model your characters after? Do you tend to make your
FemSheps look similar to you (similar hair color, or face structure,
etc.) or do base them on actors or people you know? Or do you create
entirely new faces?

edit: I guess a more general way to phrase
this would be: What was your thought process behind creating your
Shepard's face? Was there a reasoning behind why you chose specific
facial features? What, if anything, were you trying to convey with their
appearance?

I need to answer this with yes and no - lets stay first at ME-Series. Since it was, after EVE online, my first SciFi Game there was no influence or anyone - I din't even knew what awaits me there. I started play ME1 exactly 1 year ago.
I will not post any of them since the most known here:happy:

BUT - and here it comes - I was a maniac with the CC and ToolSet in DA.
I had even a story written for one of them ( sadly never finished due to rl reasons and now I can't find back to her game )
Here the link if someone is interested - it was not easy as a none native english

http://social.biowar...7/index/1934838

I did at request create characters for other DA players with their faces ( including myself )

Example  - a most beautiful woman, BSN Name Zeleen :)

I made my own NPC's - here Leliana

Posted Image

or Flemeth with her DA II outfit

Posted Image

I made also Characters I played in real Roleplay games = for the ones with interest here the link to the Album - including the short stories behind

and here a few of my Characters I played or play in other games:

my Khanid in EVE Online

Roca - my little Minstrel in LoTro

Posted Image

Skyrim = My Bretone Arianna, Chief of the Dark Brotherhood, too. Queen of all Assassins

and this the link to the albums I made for DA:O, DA II - and so on.
Be warned its a lot :P

That's great, Aly! I didn't know about ** NaChayas Journey **... Thanks! That's very interesting! And very cool albums! :)

I love everyones characters here!

In my last post I didn't mention some of my girls (I have one playable character in each game). Here is the album where I put together all characters I have.

I never really did try to make characters that looked like me, even back when I was primarily playing male PCs. And later as I found that female protagonists appealed to me more, I just sort of switched gears. I do have some traits to my toons that seem to carry across whenever I am creating human characters in games: Black/brown hair and green eyes:

Lia Shepard, ME3: Posted Image

Erisi, my Trooper on SWTOR: Posted Image

My canon-Hawke, Elana from Dragon Age 2: Posted Image

I don't really know why I gravitate towards those particular design choices asides from how I always manage to achieve a look I am happy with, regardless of the game's artstyle when I work from the base. I've tried other combinations but I never quite seem to be able to get the look just right.

Well this is a fun question.

*wrangles up all characters into one place*

I also think it's really fun seeing what other people do.  I love RPGs...and spending too much time on character design.

I don't tend to make similar characters.  Some are male.  Some aren't even human! :)

I like to make characters who are a) attractive B) fit the world somewhat c) look good in the game engine (as far as realism and emotiveness not prettiness)

Yes I am rather shallow :P

However, I do like them to look plausible for their world, so I try to make appearance make sense given their background and personality.  So nothing too outlandish, no crazy glowing eyes or purple skin...unless it makes sense of course!

Making my femsheps though is very much limited by the CC.  I find it difficult to go in with an idea and try to make it happen just because it's not very flexible.  All of them are basically the result of much playing around with no goal in mind other than to make something that looks good.  I pick backstory second, and sometimes then go back and tweak appearance then after that.  It's a process.  Mass Effect, as opposed to other games for me is more like throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks.

Instead of spamming y'all with a bunch of screenies, here's what I could find in an album: ELE's other characters

There's not a ton actually.  I only really screenshot games with custom characters...and then only really Mass Effect XD

We'll I  have model characters off of orginal  Characters I have created mostly but  lately I have trying my hand at model characters off other characters I have seen.    I find alot of  CC very limited and boring in the appearence options which why I don't play man games with a CC .  Though I really like Skyrim CC's on the best I seen to date,... some cash I want  to pick it up again and start making more characters.

Kyra and Alice my  Female Shepards apperance wise based of  Marina Ishmail  and  X-23 respectively, I like the dark the hair like colored eye look.

I want to character based of Saber from Fate/Stay night and Fate/Zero  I might  try her in Skyrim's character creator... she is after all Athuria Pendragon the girl would drew the sword from the stone and is destined to King of all Briton.

so much awesome in such little package... Bioware could learn a thing or two from Type Moon.

I will, but right know I'm short on funds so It may take some time... plus  Besthesda always comes out with the  GOTY  discount edtion with everything on it already..I;m trying to hold out.

Hmm... well, my characters don't necessarily look alike but they do share a common feature (wide faces). I tend to make them women of color too, since I'm one and we're not exactly overrepresented. That, or blondes... I don't know why. But they do tend to be similar personality-wise.

soo pretty!

@ ELE: ooh, your tristan hawke. yum! you design menfolk as well as you do womenfolk.

re: the eternal blonde in the spotlight - one part of me hates it, because the leading ladies are often blonde. that's a boring thing. but then, since i am blonde, i like to try and make blondes that are the antithesis of barbies. just sort of a fun challenge for self.

Here's what I did with my FemSheps. I picked armor colors based on how they looked. For Kendra, I did black with blue highlights. She has black hair and blue eyes. I liked how it looked on her, so I continued that color scheme with ME3.

Posted Image

For Maria, I gave her green armor, with darker green highlights. I picked the deep green eyes for her. I like how the armor turned out. I'll continue that scheme in ME3,  if   when she gets there.

An excuse to show off an action shot? Yes, thank you.

So, I hope that helps you with your armor colors. If you wanted to know about those three specifically, then either the red or black. I wish we could have changed the colors of the lights in ME2 like we can in ME3. Oh well.

* No. I don't use the same face for every game. I feel they each need to stand on their own.

* I model my customised chars after nobody. I just fiddled around until I get a face I like. FemShep does not look like me nor am I interested in making her look like me. We're poles apart in some characteristics.

When it comes to making a custom character I tend to just go with what I like the look of while I'm in the CC. When it comes to female characters I tend to make a red head with blue eyes. They usually get the name Lenneth too.

My first FemShep was pretty much the 1st preset in the CC with a few tweaks and Hrist came about because I wanted to have a Shepard that was more of my own creation. I knew going in she would have short brown hair and brown eyes, but other than that I had nothing planned for how she would look. As I said, I rarely have a plan in mind when I go in to a CC., other than the hair and eye colour.

I don't usually try to recreate one character in another game either. In fact the only time I did was when I attempted to recreate Hrist using the EVE character creator.

Because your account is too 'young' so to speak. From the FAQ:

Why can't I add images to my post?

Images can not be used in posts until seven days after account creation.

But that outfit is a retexture of the Science outfit by Aipex8. You'll need to run texmod for it, can only be modded with the PC version of the game.

I specifically like the part where he asks for discretion and gets screencapped as responce + quoted and (atleast) two articles are written about it. I thought it was stupid the first time, didn't get any better the second time.
The only thing I'd find mildly amusing is that this article is weeks late to the news? Don't quit your dayjob huh.

The thing about that is, Weekes ASKED them not to spread this around for the sake of his job. He probably shouldn't have posted it in the first place if he didn't want to risk it getting leaked everywhere. Oh well, cats out of the bag. But yes, the ending does feel like one person grabbed the pen and went all willy nilly. Hints why I want to mutilate something from after the point Anderson dies on. Given there is A LOT of other things about this game that doesn't settle well with me... *cough cough* the-horrible-mishandling-of-the-ME2-romances-besides-everyone's-beloved-Garrus-and-Tali *cough cough* But the way my Shepard became no longer my Shepard but a sheep who smiles and nods at some random AI who clearly is the enemy... And then to see my favorite characters meeting the most sadist end possible... Besides MP, I haven't touched that thing. Yay, for making me never want to play my favorite game ever again!!! I just have no desire to make myself depress. Real life does that to me enough. I play games to escape that.
