Hmm, am I the only one who made up a cool future name for my Shepard? I'm just noticing that.

Also, any one else amazed at the armor development in the 2 years between ME and ME2? Went from looking like a rubber wet suit, to real armor.

Kallien? Kalli is Finnish family name by the way. I don't think that names change much in that time. People start using old, over 100 years old names now. Naming conventions go in weird cycles. I just prefer short no nonsense names. That's why my Shepard is Tiia.

I honestly didn't know that. I just made the name up, lol.

Love Liege!Posted Image

My boyfriend studied there! He loved the Carrè. :) My favorite city so far would either be Bruges or Antwerp; the former has the chocolate and french fry museums (violet chocolates... *dreamy sigh*) and carriage rides; beautiful--the second is actually the city where I'm going to school. I love the train station; it's awesome, and sometimes I even hear other native English speakers, especially in the Subway or Starbucks. Makes me feel a little less lonely; it's hard sometimes, even knowing Dutch... I can't feel like I'm really being myself yet when I speak in Dutch. The cultural differences are strong, too, and I haven't seen my parents for a year... I miss them so much. I can't wait for April; the idea of playing ME3 multiplayer with Dad and my guy... wonderful thought. :) I love Belgium, but Pennsylvania still has a big piece of my heart.

Being a
Colonist is really awesome, i absolutely love see her acting around
Batarians. She's not a racist but she see no good in Batarians and quite
often act very ruthless around them.

I love that about the Colonist background--Spacer feels really down-to-earth in ways, it makes sense, and Earthborn is great for that "humble beginnings/ex-con" kinda feel... but I guess I've always been a little bit in love with tragic pasts, because I feel the most sympathy for Colonist Shepard. I grew up poor and both parents are living, but that's probably the reason--the worst thing I could think of would be to lose the people I love. It made me care more about my first Shepard to know she was a Colonist; to see her go through that quest with Talitha. (Jennifer Hale made me tear up SO bad. I was blubbering like a kid... Mark Meer's performance for that quest was woefully stoic! I was disappointed on my ManShep run. Hale definitely did that one better.) I felt more connected to her through experiencing that sense of loss.

It
felt good to tell the Batarian barkeep in Afterlife; "Who's next
Turians? *points to Turian next to her* You don't like them too right?"
Turian shoots him; "I'm not taking any chances" lol..

It would
be nice to see the guy I helped out in the quarantine zone testify at
the trial, I doubt it, but it would be a nice touch. The whole Arrival
thing is very awkward for my Shepard because anyone who knows her past
could accuse her of wanting to destroy the colony anyway... Not true,
but I wonder if that will play out for the colonist Shepards, and you
get to try to defend yourself. *hugs her paragon points* [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/joyful.png[/smilie]

Mwahaha! I LOVED that quest with the barkeep--loved the other potential method of dealing with him, too, but it's especially fun to turn the crowd against him. Omega's great for that kinda thing.

I really hope that the Colonist background comes up in the trial. I would love them so much if they made it happen, and as more than a perfunctory mention.

Anyone play in infiltrator Femshep?

*raises hand* Right here! Eo's an Infiltrator. She is much more blue than red (Paragade) but BDtS is one of those red spots for her... she felt a connection with the trapped hostage, but in the end her perspective was, "This is a terrorist. He's not going to realize humans aren't so bad after all and take up knitting. He's a smart bad guy who, if I let him go, is going to destroy another planet. Can I really justify saving a few people just because I feel a connection with them when thousands, even millions more are put at risk by leaving this monster at large?" It broke her heart in an ugly, ugly way, but she didn't let him go.

Eshaye wrote...

Yep I do. I tried to play other classes
but this is my favorite. At the end of ME1 it was a bit ridiculous
though I was boom headshotting everyone. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/whistling.png[/smilie]

Is it weird that I wanted to squee there? *lol* I love that feeling. I missed that sniper feeling in ME2. I told Brenon Holmes so back in August; he had this to say:

Hopefully we can strike a balance and get some more of the feeling of
the first combat experience that you enjoyed, while still reinforcing
some of the behaviors we want out of the players.

In terms of the enemies, for the most part there are really only two
enemies that really get in your face (well three), Husks, Guardians
(shield guys) and a little swarmery ME1 rachni type guy. So while there
are pressures to be mobile, generally if you deal with the situation in
an appropriate way you don't *have* to run screaming out of cover. :)

I think you'll also enjoy some of the sniper specific gameplay that
we've added... just recently I had a really fun encounter with a
couple of Nemesis (Nemeses?) snipers. I think you guys will probably be
seeing some stuff from them soon. It was a lot of fun though, moving
around the battlefield trying to get a good angle on them while avoiding
getting shot.

That's what I love about Infiltrator. Trying to get the perfect angle, trying to outsmart the buggers out there trying to do the same thing to me. BOOM, headshot... *grin* I want that feeling back again, and better than ever.

CrazyRah wrote...

Oh yeah that's also why i save them but i
really can't justify gambling with the galaxy. Shepard doesn't really
know how strong Sovereign really is and by sending in the fleet early it
will take damage and be weaker when it reach Sovereign. Of course this
being a game everything ends up happy but from Shepards POV i got
trouble justifying it. What makes most sense to me is to use the fresh
and strong fleet to deal the strongest possible blow at Sovereign.

Yeah, I found that annoying--I didn't feel like they gave the player quite enough information about the situation to make a truly proper decision for their character. In the end, I fell back on, "that ship's running away, not fighting. We don't know what's going to happen if Sovereign has an extra few minutes to do what it needs to do. If it sends the signal, everything dies. Forget it. No time for anything but Sovereign; saving the Council (which I REFUSE to believe is the best the galaxy has to offer) does no good if we doom the universe." Then in ME2, the game world is mostly like, "Oh, you're not the hero who killed Saren, you're just that useless a-hole who let the Council die because human lives." Sigh.

The Heretics, I found harder. I had the same concerns you did. In the end, I made the rewrite decision the first time, mostly because I was thinking about what she did with the Rachni Queen--like, "what if the 'error' that makes the Heretics different is some kind of machine-style Indoctrination?" It seemed like the right idea to try to save them in a way that organics couldn't be saved, though I'm still shaking in my boots that it's going to come back and bite my main Shep where it counts. Nerve-wracking, a little bit, but exciting!

Liara: That's a beautiful dress, Shepard.
UJ: You think so? It's not too ... "girly?"
Liara: You could take it off. *smirk*

UJ wears the dress three times in the game, Kasumi mission, Samara loyalty mission, and the "cabin scene" w/ Liara in LOTSB. I can't tell you how much I hate the colonist clothes, so this, (while out of step w/ other ME formal wear) was a welcome change.

Love to have pics of my Shepard but until I get a recording device for my PS3/Xbox 360 I may just have to stick with a hand camera phone lol which doesn't do Shepard justice. That broken task does bother me.... So I go renegade and tell the Batarian and have him take Ish out. I headcanoned it somehow...revenge for Jacob's sake 'cause he's part of my crew (take him with and he has words for the salarian).

Ugh, that pic reminded me of one thing, I mean I like your shepard, but am I the only one who hates that dress? How come just because shes a woman she has to wear a dress for that mission? There should be a choice.

That dress is the "only" one available in the game. While it's not my favorite i like the fact that it offers a brake from the routine.Posted Image

I believe if you mod in the ability to bring up the wardrobe at any time, you can change the dress mid-mission. I love the dress, however. Leather LBD (little black dress) is classy and badass at the same time. Shepard's reaction to it is hilarious ("Why am I wearing this?") as is Kasumi's.

I do wonder where she stashed that pistol, though. :pinched:

LBD ftw!

Apparently, it's doable...

Especially with the "collapse when not in use" function of ME weapons.

Ya those are the three times I get my Shepards to wear the dress too. Thought they done a great job designing the dress. Can't say the same thing about the colonist clothes though. If that is the fashion of the future it's shockingPosted Image. At least I think femshep got a better outfit than manshep for Kasumi's mission. His looks too much like the long sleeved casual outfit.

The hair is modded (it's Ash's).

This is how Brenda looks like with the standard options:

I am always fascinated how much the hair changes the look of a character.

I'm the same way with my FemShep, she only wears the dress for those three missions.  I'd really would have liked for an Alliance style uniform was available for those of us who use the 360, but I make do with the Scientist garb.  The 'colonist' gear just seems a bit too casual, and I hate to say it, but people would judge her on appearance.  She'd want to underline her authority, especially when first coming aboard at the beginning of ME2.  I'd be a bit apprehensive about being given a ship and crew by a group where your previous interactions had been largely shooting them dead.   I'd want every psycological trick possible to underscore my authority in a situation, and get people comfortable with me.

In ME, you didn't have the problem, because Shepard was the XO, and a known authority figure.  She'd probably qualified people watches (approved them to do a job), and taken the lead on much of the daily admin while building the ship, as well as run the drills (Good militaries drill their people until emergancy actions are second nature).  Everyone knows who she is and, what she can do.

Y'know all this talk on Femsheps clothes makes me wonder how her outfits will be in the new one. We've already seen the new Alliance standard which actually looks pretty damn cool. Well on Male Shep. We haven't seen FemShep's version.

But I really wonder what the new Alliance Commander outfit will look like.

I do hate the Femshep clothes, because they seem too girly too me. Or at least, my Femshep. None of them feel like "I'm the Captain of this Ship! I stand out and look superior!". All the squadmates have their cool clothes, and I'm stuck with a t-shirt, a club dress, a meh business suit, a meh science suit, and cow girl clothes.

I like her anyway. Sometimes when I create a Shepard it takes a while for me to fully like their face. I may not consider their face 'great' but then they usually kind of grow on me and I can't imagine changing it. Besides sometimes what really matters is creating a face that matches with the voice. I created a face before that was what I consider very pretty but unplayable since I didn't think the voice suited at all.

I dunno if this is in regards to my last post. But if so, I agree, it is cool, especially the shoulder pads.

And I wear the officer uniform too, makes me look in charge. I like that. Which is really why I wonder what the officer uniform will look like in ME3. Especially with how different the casual outfit is this time around.

Since we're talking about femshep's clothes just wondering what ye all think of the outfit Shep is wearing for the trial? Well I'm presuming what we've seen on the trailers will be the outfit. I got to say I was pretty disappointed when I saw it as I expecting the outfit to look more like a uniform. Like Hackett says to Shep at the end of Arrival, "When Earth calls you make sure you be there with your dress blues on". So I guess I was kind of expecting to see her in a blue uniform, something like what Anderson wears.

Kallen's gonna stylie her uniform while she's under protective custody, she's still very much in her "f*ck the alliance" mode so in her canon it'll be something very girly, but in game maybe it'll be her N7 hoodie if the Me3 imports are like the ME2 imports where the casual from the original PT was what you wore on the table.

@Wynne

Yeah i think pretty much the same about dealing with Sovereign, the player just got the wheel and really no information about the situation. Guess we were supposed to be as blind as our Sheps. This time i end up with saving them but the next time i get to that point i might just focus on Sovereign. I don't believe the Council to be the best either. (Politicians blergh)

About the Heretics, i so expect them to take a good bite in the ass. I'm still hoping that saving them is the more useful choice and i also went with saving the Rachni queen for the same reasons as you did. I also very much suspect that the Rachni might come and bite my Shep in the ass here aswell somehow.

On the subject of casual wear in ME2, thank the maker for mods. Holy chessus is the casual stuff horrible! I had to mod the ini file to add some decent options

It looks more navy to me.Posted Image But it wasn't the colour I had a problem with, it was the design. Just doesn't look like a uniform for a trial. It looks too informal like something for combat in comparison to what Hackett and Anderson wear. Sure Shep isn't as highly ranked as them but I guess I just expected she would have a similar kind of uniform.

I thought this too; I'm pretty sure at the end of Arrival Hackett says something about dress blues, and for a few seconds I had fantasies about my War Hero Shepard looking all awesome with her Star of Terra pinned on.
