I wish flycam for ME3 worked as good as it did for ME1 and 2. I haven't gotten nearly as much awesome artsy SS as I want. That really sucks for the game being as aesthetically pleasing as it is. (Besides the really horrorable low-res textures, thanks for the high-res download for PC players... oh wait... <_<)


I would have more shots like that if it wasn't for the fact that doing certain things causes Shepard to be locked in place forcing you to reload. I can't be arsed to play a scene over and over again just to get the shots I want.

As for texmods, give in!! Its not addictive at all... I can quit anytime I want, man! Anytime I want!

To fix the flycam freezing issue add these keybinds to your coalesced.

In Bioinput:

Underneath "sfxgame.sfxgamemodebase": {

You can make them any key you want. Ghost unsticks you, walk makes you walk again. Hit them in succession and fixed.

I laugh at you all. I haven't broken myself for regular gameplay at all the second I started modding the armors/weaps. Nope. And I totally didn't boot up ME3 to get instantly annoyed by the Avenger in the first screenshot I took either. Nope.

I can do without texmods. Any time!

Honestly though, look at it >< WHY BIOWARE.

I frankly don't see what is so disturbing about that?

Oh, and I certainly didn't expect everyone to understand my reservations when it comes to Jacob or James as a LI. But there's nothing wrong with that. If everyone understood each other we would be living in an utopia. As long as we can respect that everyone has their own opinion and is free to express him- or herself.

And hey, isn't discussion all about getting to understand someone else's opinion?

I do have something to say about insults. It's a bit of a rule of mine that it's impossible to insult someone. It's only possible by the other to feel insulted. So if I feel insulted by something someone else posts here, then that is my problem -- I can't force someone to stop expressing their opinion just because I choose to take it personally. As a consequence, if someone says to me that they feel insulted by my opinion, than sorry, but that's really not my problem.

In your post u making it sound as if neither Taylor nor Vega fit an acceptable standard/mold broadly; as oppose to them not viable options for romance according to ur feelings/taste. I'm a straight dude too, and to me that's not the question. I can understand if you don't personally see them that way(LI) though.

Your comment specifically wasn't even that insulting, it's the thought that positivity triggered a negative opinion upon a subject not directly provoked or discussed. We did not ask the question you felt obligated to comment on, and when you did, it changed the overall tone.

I have a specific way of thinking about this too, if something makes someone happy, while you don't necessarily care for it, your negative opinion doesn't trump someone elses enjoyment, or rather it shouldn't. Put someone elses enjoyment above your opinion that doesn't contextually matter and let them have their fun if it's not intrusive, as it wasn't in the slightest.

Sorry, I wasn't explaining very well there. I was trying to say that I think the layer mask (at least the one you would create following those instructions) in GIMP is the same as the alpha channel (or alpha layer, whatever it's actually called) in Photoshop.
 
And as ELE08 said, they're usually attached to diffuse maps, not normal maps. Though, at the time, I figured I'd try attaching one anyway since I was trying everything else under the sun to get the texture to show up properly. Figured it couldn't hurt.

I've since tried darkening up my texture like you and Ottemis suggested and it... sort of worked. I've found it didn't really get rid of the lighting issues until I darkened it to the point that pretty much all detail was gone.

However it did give me something else to try. Something that's also probably a pretty hacky method of fixing the problem and I'm still testing a few things to make sure that it doesn't have any unforeseen consequences on the rest of the game.

But, so far, it's working very nicely. The normal map is actually showing up properly with all detail intact and whatnot.

So, yes. Thanks everybody for all your assistance! :3

And once I've made sure that it hasn't borked anything, I can return and share this newly inspired work-around if any of you are interested.

Very much so!

I tried virtually everything when I ran into the exact same issue btw. You'll no doubt keep some minor edges between the face and scalp normal map, but with enough time and tweaking it can be minimized.
I only had to take one look at that ingame screenshot to see what you were doing lol. All that frustration coming back up for me too =P

I've no idea why Vega wasn't a LI for FemShep; I mean, sure I think he tends to see 'Lola' more as a (big/little) sister than as a potential mate but unless you play Shepard as a by-the-book-no-fraternization-with-the-lower-orders Alliance-type I think they have a lot of chemistry. (The only reason Jennifer 1.0 slapped Vega down was because she was already involved with Liara and I didn't realise he wasn't a LI option in the first place.)

I don't think he even needed to be a full romance. Casual relationship would have been great. For all the femSheps who lost their true loves to bullcrap and just want to get laid before the final battle. No strings attached.

As a matter of fact, I didn't even think about their skin colors until just now, when I wondered about exactly what in my posts implied that they didn't fit an acceptable standard or mold.

Why I don't like them as LI's... I can't really explain. It's as if you walk down the street and you see a man kiss a woman and you just think: what does he see in her? I have the same with Femshep and either Jacob or James.

Yes, part of this thread. And as it turned out, another part of this thread was not happy or just didn't care for Vega and femshep. If this was Vega's own thread, I wouldn't have said anything about it. But as this is a thread for all femsheps and I have difficulties seeing my Shepard and Vega together, I think it must be able to express that opinion here, too.

As for your last paragraph, well, I guess we just disagree then. If it makes you happy to put someone else's enjoyment above your own opinion, then by all means. It doesn't work that way for me, though. If I say here that I really like a character, I expect people to either agree or disagree with me. It's nice if they agree, but it doesn't bother me in the least if they don't. I respond to them if I feel like having a discussion and I ignore them if I don't. But I certainly won't let anybody else's opinion ruin my fun. Hell, if I did, I wouldn't even have played Mass Effect anymore, given the massive fallout triggered by the (original) endings.

Despite being thoroughly humbled by the fantastic Shepards featured in this thread the last few days and the strangely (meaning, I'm unsure why there was even what little conflict I perceived at all) heated conversation, I wanted to say I really enjoy being a part of this thread. Thank you all for giving me a place to show off my Sheps and geek out a bit about a game I so enjoy. And, thanks to the EC I found renewed desire to finish Lida and Evie's stories.

So, here are some shots of Lida, renegon infiltrator, scrounging up unsavory allies and taking the fight to to the wayward Cerberus.

Lida hates Batarians but finds herself working with one. Seems to be a theme. Shep forced to work with the fringes of galactic society to get things done.


Investigating Cerberus interest on Tuchanka, she slides over a wall and realizes she forgot her invisibility cloak.


The problem is easily fixed with a little tech.


A lot of tech.


Although Lida may surprise me in the end, I suspect I know what her choice will be. And I'm okay with that.

I think this would have been a great option.

Edit: also, I am having trouble with these screenshots appearing grainy and blurry in this thread, but when I look at them on my computer, they are clear as day and look much better. Is it because I'm linking them through Bioware albums? Or is it because I'm saving them as .jpg's?

Wording of initial post.

There's a difference between saying "I don't understand why people like Vega" and "I don't see my femshep with Vega for x reasons."

The second is perfectly reasonable, the first serves no purpose other than to put other's opinions down.  Whether that is your intention or not, or whether you care or not, I think being considerate to other people's feelings is a good thing.


Honestly, I did not find your initial post that bad, it's just the wording that turned something innocuous and fun into something negative.  Which is really my only point, a little bit of consideration goes a long way to avoid argument and people feeling put-down.
