Before ME3 came out, I knew Jacob wasn't going to have the same writer from ME2 so I was prepared for a "it's him, but not really him" kind of feel. (I see this brought up by Ash fans as well regarding her character.) I was stunned when I found out about the break-up scene as he was going to be my second playthrough and was ranked as my second favorite romance behind Kaidan. My reaction was more of a major WTF towards the writing team. To answer your question, I don't think anything of him because it's not him anyway. I'm just more irritated with how humiliating it was to go through the motions, with FemShep on her knees groveling for attention and then being all arm-in-arm with the other woman in order to save the station. On the bright side, it did save me the trouble of making a brand-new Shepard to explore the Sam Traynor romance (totally paid off in the EC).

The lighting is just handled so. much. better. Not to say that every picture is suddenly perfect now, but I think they look a lot better than the pictures I took with my old camera. I'll still resize them to 800x? pixels (the ? is variable), though, because it makes them look sharper and take up less bandwidth than, say, pictures with a size of 5000x3000 pixels.

Oh, and Menae was a hell again, by the way. Managed to take out two Brutes and a few Marauders with the Reaper Blackstar, but gosh dang it to heck that fight was brutal. Berlitz was not amused with the quality of the weapons and their mods, so it's shopping time on the Citadel! Too bad she only got 50.000 credits.

Thanks! And no, I play on the X360. Because for some reason it can't take ingame screenshots (nice one, Microsoft <_<), I have to take pictures of my screen with my camera. It's not perfect, but it works.

As for Jacob: I never romanced him so I didn't really mind him and that doctor hooking up, though I was quite surprised when I learned that it happened whether you had romanced if or not. That still doesn't make sense to me. I also thought it was weird that he first went chillin' at the beach -- so much for "one does not simply quit Cerberus". And your conversation with him on the Citadel was also quite clunky and awkward. All in all it was a shame how his character was handled in ME3. He wasn't my favorite character in ME2, but he wasn't as boring as people make him out to be. That 'brofist-hug' thing you do with him after his loyalty mission is still one of the nicer moments from ME2 if you ask me.

Am I the only one who thinks this just made Control suddenly get a whole lot more appealing? It honestly had never occurred to me before that Shepard could "pull an EDI" and create a body for herself to run around in while simultaneously still being God Emperor of all the Reapers or whatever hahaha

And maybe it's just me, but I am really tickled by the idea of this version of Shepard Queen of the Reapers. I will probably go this route with Naomi, mainly because a) she's Renegade so will have less moral qualms about it, and I can see Garrus being kinda stoked on the idea of his girlfriend being an immortal robot god.

For a lot of things in ME3 you can feel that clean brake from ME2. probably because D. Karpinski didn't do the writing like in previous ME - if i'm not mistaken.

As for the whole Jacob thing: I don't have a Shepard that romanced him, but I like him as a character. It just seems BioWare have done everything they possible could to make people dislike him. The conclusion to the romance in ME3 is poor and doesn't do him justice.

Shame on BioWare more than shame on Jacob.

I'm going a little screenshot crazy on my new playthrogh, but I really love this screenshot and had to share it. It gave me a bit of a Ripley vibe what with Hrist holding the flame thrower and the whole level having a bit of an Alien feel to it, what with alien Queens, eggs with little creatures busrting out of them, etc, etc.

As for Jacob. I was so looking forward to seeing what Bioware did with Jacob. And when I got Evie to that point, oh man. It was awful in an awful way. I will never ever have another Shep romance him. It was an amazing relationship in ME2, thrown down the tubes. At least the Thane romancers got a kiss and some affirmation that Thane still cared for their Sheps.

Now Evie believes Jacob was just a shill for Cerberus. After what she found out at Cronos Station, she believes now that Jacob outright lied to her. He was a Cerberus man all along. He was one of her biggest mistakes after Kaidan. And even though she rekindled a relationship with Kaidan, she remained distant and closed.

I headcanon in romaned playthroughs that Jacob s a Cerberus clone. He went to the beah to relax for a weeka nd they ambushed him, scanned his brain and grew a body using Okeer's method of growing grunt they planted him in Brynn's cell and Brynne made moves on him and he accepted becuse he was programmed to break Shepard's heart during a critical part of the war to throw her game off. Brynne's a mercenary scientist so she was paid by Cerberus and let go to do what she wished as long as she broke Shepard's heart. Jacob is somehwere on cronos station in stasis and found after the war when the Alliance is going trhough the station and Shepard is reunited with her REAL lover if she picks destroy and survives and lives happily ever after the end.

Mmm, possibly a dumb question but is there any screenshot-taking key (or possibility to create one) in ME3? I'm not asking about installing external recording softwares, just something in-game, like many other games have F12 or F11 taking screencaps. Using the print screen key and pasting in an image processing software is tiresome

@SebAusFR: I know you said no external software but FRAPS can take screenshots for you either individually or in a series of seconds. I actually prefer pressing print screen and cropping out since I feel I have more control of the type of pic that way. Otherwise, I don't think there's another way without some sort of software.

Edit: in regards to Jacob I never romanced him because he bored me much the same way Kaiden did, but less so since Jacob is a bit more realistic and not all Mr. Captain America like the latter. I don't mind that Jacob wound up with a girlfriend and it wouldn't have bothered me even if I had romanced him. What did bother me was the OOC dialogue no matter what the situation and I seriously feel sorry for any Jacob mancers. He wasn't the same character at all so I don't hate him, but the new writer butchered him.


On another note, everyone is beating Cora down over her choice of favoring the geth over the quarians, but one email from an anonymous Prime and a small chat with EDI cheers her up a little and gives her some hope.

Direct email quote: -snip- "Calculations are being performed remotely and sent to the Crucible project via secure encryption to avoid causing tension with other species. We will prove that organics and synthetics can work together toward mutually beneficial goals. Your trust will make it possible."

(I have to say, experiencing Cora's story has evolved my view of the geth and solidified feelings I've always had regarding their conflict)


Thessia was...not the turn around Cora was hoping for after Rannoch.


Cora: "you finally decide to use the poker table and nobody invited me?"

Vega: "Whoa now, is Lola getting jealous? Someone take a picture so I can hang it on my wall."

*Cora crosses her arms and frowns*

Vega: "We're just having some guy time, you know? Amigos and all that."

Kaidan: "No offense commander but the last time we played I lost everything except my tooth brush. Wait, you won that too."

Cora: *throws hands up in defeat*: "Just once I would like to have a conversation where everyone says 'Sure! Let's go, right now'."

I don't think Bioware motivated Jacob's reasons as they could have, making him look like a douchebag this way was ooc.
He's high on loyalty, has great inner strenght, shows real emotion and has a no nonsense attitude from my perspective in ME2. What we got in ME3 was pitiful, and it had nothing to do with him 'cheating' per say.

Five ****ty minutes can't undo an entire game of characterbuilding in my book.
The Jacob situation is a 'bad on Bioware' more then anything else.

The whole "evil clone" theory I ran across somewhere suddenly seems plausible.

Though I've read too much Bujold and have a "reformed evil clone" theory. (Read Brothers in Arms and further if you want to know what I mean.)

No, I did not need a vision of FemShep being like Petey from the Schlock Mercenary universe after the "Resident Mad Scientist" arc... Makes Control even more tempting than the funny image of the N7-Reaper telling Harbinger to get back to work.

@ razviolet: Thank you! And I love the poker scene. It's a shame they didn't put more of those scenes in the game, though I know you're kinda in the middle of a war, but still, just getting to chill out with the crew... that would've been nice. Oh well, luckily we still have fanfiction for that.

As for Berlitz, well, after Manea she could use a little free time to spend on her hobby. What is her hobby? Making money. How does one do that in space? Well, apparently by flying around, visiting planets and loading all sorts of crap on board the ship! Too bad about the war, she could've made even more money. But alas, duty called. On the Citadel to be precise. Aria, a fellow named Jondum Bau, Kaidan, Thane... She even ran into Kasumi, who helped her and Jondum out thwarting the plans of an evil Hanar, who was called Zymandis. Berlitz could've sworn she read that name before. Was it in Fornax? 

...

Ehr, anyway, after all that was finally done and she made the necessary, it was finally time to leave the Citadel and kick ass. Next stop: Grissom Academy.

Raziel and Akari Tenshi - She is an adept (love those biotic explosions!) Earthborn sole survivor. She is mostly renegade and I have played her from ME1 through ME3. A couple days ago she destroyed the reapers...

Now I am replaying her starting back at ME1, except this time she's an engineer.
