Long post incoming!
First, I still wanted to answer LadyAly's question about Jack. If she would become available to femsheps, I would romance Jack in a heartbeat. I've watched her ME2 romance on YouTube and even without experiencing it myself, I think it's one the best romances in the game. My first impression of her wasn't exactly good: that little tantrum at the end of Purgatory, when she finds out the Normandy is a Cerberus vessel, was pathetic and the constant swearing wasn't a turn on either. She redeems herself with the help of (a Paragon) Shepard, though. As for how she looks, well, I'm not into bald women, but her face looks absolutely beautiful. In ME3, with the updated wardrobe and a nice ponytail, she looks better than ever and is really one of the most attractive women in the game, I think.
Not all my Shepard would be attracted to her, but I like to see the Commander as a sexually open-minded person (that goes MaleShep, too, if I would play as him) so I'm sure at least one of my Shepard wouldn't mind starting a relationship with Jack.
@ Audience: Youy're welcome! And thank you, too, for your nice words about Ayla.
@ SebAusFR: Great shots and wel-written story. I liked how you handled Thane's death and the subsequent visit to Purgatory.
@ Ashoken: Nice shots of Lida! And to be honest, I sometimes let Shepard be grabbed by a husk just so she can plant her foot in its head.
@ Verly: Octavia looks great in that dress. You're right, though: it doesn't work with every Shepard. My current Shepard doesn't look very good in it, while it looked great on my previous Shepard (but maybe that's because she had the same haircut as Allers). A shame they didn't just use the dress from ME2, which looks much more classy.
@ raziel1980: Yeah, I know, it's just that Jack isn't really an "angel".

And wow, Stacia looks great in ME3!
@ razviolet: I love those action shots of Mercy. Keep 'em coming!
@ meonlyred: So I'm not the only one who thinks that doctor is creepy. I usually skip that scene, because that guy makes it a very awkward scene.

As for myself: I'm finally done with Part II of Ayla's story. I tried to keep it short, but of course, I failed again.
Ayla's Story - Part IIHackett had already heard that the Council wasn't interested in helping the Alliance and Ayla told him that she was getting sick and tired of their continuing unwillingness to help her. Hackett was understanding, but reiterated that they needed the Council's support if they wanted to complete the "Crucible", which the Prothean superweapon was dubbed. What was her plan? Ayla told him about the Turian Primarch, who had called a war summit between the Turians, the Salarians and the Asari. However, he was currently stuck on one of Palaven's moons. They could rescue him with the Normandy, attend the war summit and appeal directly to the leadership of the other races.

Menae, Palaven's largest moon, felt like a giant obstacle course. The Primarch was already dead, shot down an hour before they landed. After jumping through several hoops to get communications up and running again, they learned that General Adrien Victus was the new Primarch. Victus was somewhere on Menae, but, of course, the Turians were unable to contact him. To make things worse, Ayla got contacted by Joker who told her that the Normandy was acting strange. It made sense to send Liara back to check it out, not because Ayla thought it would help much, but because she had to make room in her squad for Garrus "Garry" Vakarian. He would direct them to the place he had last seen the new Primarch.

"So, Lola..."
"What's up, Big McLargeHuge?"
James blinked at her, not really sure what to say. "Sorry, but... what did you call me?"
"Big McLargeHuge." Ayla said casually. "You're not the only one who can come up with nicknames, you know."
"Seems like a fitting name," Garrus chimed in.
After a few seconds of stunned silence, James laughed. "Ha! OK, OK, Big McLargeHuge... I like it, Lola."
"Don't I get a nickname?" Garrus asked.
"Sure thing," Vega said. "From now on, you are Scars."
Garrus shaked his head. "I should've known..."
Ayla laughed. "Don't worry, Garrus, you will always be 'Garry' to me." She looked at James. "So, McLargeHuge, what did you want to ask?"
"Well, about this summit..."

Back on the Normandy, Ayla had a good talk with Victus, the new Primarch, who informed her that Garry had already departed for the main battery for some much needed calibratin'. Ayla wasn't suprised.

Although she felt for him, as Victus didn't particulary seemed to like his new positition in the Turian Hierarchy, Ayla was glad that a former general was in charge of diplomacy. Only time would tell if he was any good at it, but at least he wasn't going to let politics get in the way of fighting the Reapers as best as possible. That he invited the Krogan to attend the war summit was proof of that. Sadly, the same couldn't be said about the Asari and the Salarians, who'd rather keep old grudges fester instead of settle their differences and stand together against the Reapers.
When she left the War Room, the lights suddenly flickered and a panicking Joker informed her that EDI just went offline. He would try to fix things from the bridge, while Ayla went down to the AI Core to see what was going on there. For a moment she regretted not taking a gun with her, when she opened the door to the Core and she saw the dysfunctional body of the Cerberus synthetic suddenly come to life again through the smoke caused by the fire. It wasn't Dr. Eva Coré who had woken up, however. It was... EDI?
She had hijacked the robot body when the Eva Coré AI activated its back-up systems. There was a bit of a struggle during their fight, hence the fire. EDI explained that she had full control over the body and could even accompany Shepard on missions. Ayla was impressed.

It seemed obtaining a body changed something in EDI. She revealed that she was able to modify her own core programming ever since Joker unshackled her during the Collector attack, but when she asked Joker if she should change something now she could, he deflected the question with humor... and EDI didn't get an answer. Ayla didn't know exactly what to tell her either. She was willing to help, though, so she told EDI to just "ask away" when she wanted to know something.
Of course, this immediately came back to bite her in the ass when they went to the Citadel for some much needed shore leave.

EDI didn't exactly skirt around the issue: she had the feeling Joker was romantically interested in her and she wanted to return those feelings. She wondered if Shepard could help with that. For instance, how do you let someone know you are interested in them without outright telling them?
"When you are sexually interested in another, what kind of advances do you make?"
How should I know? I haven't had sex in ages! "Well, eh... You know, there are the intimate talks, thoughtful gifts, joking around..."
"Jeff does often try to lighten the mood with humor. That could indicate a 33.3 repeating percent chance that he cares for me," EDI said with an upbeat voice. She then shaked her head. "But that is insufficient data for determining his motives. Perhaps we could discuss how to provoke Jeff into an emotional commitment."
Oh boy."That's... not how to think of it. It's got to be natural. You need chemistry."
"I see. There are a number of pharmaceuticals I could inject to simulate the desired emotional state."
No, no, no, no, no! Not good! "No! I meant relax and do something you both like. Something simple. For example, you both like humor?"
"Correct. I will see if there are comedic entertainment shows being presented on the Citadel. Scanning… Do you think he would like “The Man Who Hung Himself”? It appears to be about an amorous plastic surgeon."
Ayla patted the AI on her suprisingly soft shoulder. "EDI, the important thing is to have a good time wherever you go. And if you are having fun, he probably will too."
"Then the outcome is an unknown quantity, but you are saying I should attempt it anyway."
"Nobody fell in love without being a little bit brave."
The advice was as much directed to EDI as to herself. She did have her eyes on someone, but she was still waiting for the right moment to do anything with it. As carefree as she usually was, love made her a bit... nervous.
EDI dropped her head for a moment. "I see. I believe you have improved my chances, Shepard," she then said, a bit more happy. "Thank you."
"You're very welcome, EDI."
Ayla sighed when she walked away from the synthetic, who was now watching with interest how Joker tried to shoo a few birds away who were harassing him.
So this is how mom must have felt when she gave me the talk...She then remembered that a Salarian Spectre named Jondum Bau had contacted her, requesting her help. When she met up with him at the embassies, he explained that none other than Kasumi Goto had send him evidence suggesting that Hanar diplomats were working for the Reapers. Ayla didn't exactly understand why Bau couldn't investigate the claims himself, as he was a Spectre too, but she decided to just play along.
She met up with Kasumi, who never seemed to be too far away when you needed her. Ayla tried recruiting her for the mission while investigating terminals all over the Citadel, but sadly the master thief wouldn't take the bait. She was quite happy living in the past with her memories of Keiji. Ayla didn't say it out loud, but she now wondered if it wouldn't been a better idea to destroy that greybox. But then again, if they had, they probably would not have known about the Hanar planning to disable the defense systems of his home planet, Kahje, because it was the information from Keiji's greybox that informed them of the threat.

Jondum Bau was a Spectre, but he wasn't exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer. First he let one of Hanar's goons easily overpower him and then, when Kasumi made her presence clear, disabled the bomb but was hit when the fail-safe on the hanar's computer created a small explosion, immediately believed that she had died when, of course, she was still very much alive. At least he promised to be there when Shepard was ready to take back earth from the Reapers. Ayla even got Kasumi to help out; not as a squad member, sadly, but she would use her expertise to help build the Crucible.
Next up in Part III: Grissom Academy and the return to Eden Prime.
