@SaturnRing you can post whatever you want, but wouldn't it be better to link it from fanfic.net or deviantart? That way it won't get lost. Five months from now, none of us will be able to find your wonderful story.

It takes too long to put together anyway. It's fine, maybe i will do that some time in the future.

Mizz and Ottemis were ASKING you to be considerate. I can see that is more diffcult than it seems.

I sincerely apologise if anything in my 'modest proposal' gave the impression that I was disagreeing with the essence of Mizz's reminder as nothing could be further from the truth. FWIW, I happily endorse what she said. I was merely trying to look at the problem from a different perspective, not suggesting that her request was unreasonable. I'm sorry my communication skills failed in the parsing of my words. :(

So? That's their problem, then, not yours.

I don't know if I want to upload my stories to fanfiction.net, but posting them on my personal blog here on BSN is a good suggestion. (To be honest: I kinda forget each of us had one.)

To sum it up: from here on out I will post the beginning of a chapter here in this thread (one paragraph, maybe a little bit more) and post a link where whoever is interested can read the rest of the chapter. Furthermore, I will try to post no more than five pictures on each page. I already resize them to 800xY pixels (height is variable) but I will try to compress them even further. I just experimented a bit with Photoshop and at 60% quality the picture still looks good and is only about 50 - 100KB big. I think that is a reasonable size.

So, do we have a deal, everybody?

That wasn't directed at you. That was more a general statment about why this is still being discussed since this arguement has nothing to do with Femshep at all. I understand you wanting to help with the thread and that is great but this is something that has been laid down in the OP since day one. The reminder was posted not as a way to drive people away, I'm confounded why some took it that way. We want to see and read about everyone's Shepards that is way we visit the thread in the first place. But just like too many kids on the trampoline, its just going to be a cluster.

I quite like the blog idea for a few reasons.

You can make it as long as you want and fill it with as many pics and graphics and crazy formatting as you want without getting on anyone's nerves.

If I'm pressed for time, I usually just scroll over extremely long fanfic/recap type posts, and I'm probably not going to go back and find them later since the thread has likely moved on quite a bit by the time I come back.

Not everyone checks the thread all the time.  If they miss one of these types of posts, it's just gone.  This way, when they're here in the thread they see, oh cool, an update.  And if they miss it, they'll still be able to go back and see a history of all the blogs in one place.  Also they can actually subscribe to someone and get a message if a blog is updated.

It just makes more sense to keep it all organized this way, especially since then each section will be able to be commented on specifically, on the blog page.

Number of requests is the real issue these days in internet. It would be faster to combine all images in one large one that post each as a separate image since the waiting time for each request before the actual download can be many times longer than the actual download in worst case scenario. For that reason I sprite graphics when doing websites, use base64 encoding for small ones and do everything in CSS if possible. Blaah blaah XD.

But anyway, posting 1 MB and above pics directly is not wise. I'd say that one large pic in post when there's a good reason for it is fine but bunch of >500 kb images is pushing it. I personally hate messy JPG's (and JPG's with chroma subsampling) with passion but I try to keep size between 300-450 kb or lower if possible. If one page is filled with pictures, it may not be the best idea to add any more. Common sense.

And when it comes to wall of text, well... It doesn't really annoy me at all.

@f1r3storm
Great pictures!

Anyhoo, getting back on topic then....

I couldn't resolve my Jennifer/Liara conundrum with Gibbed or anything so I just went back, had the confrontation and then had Jennifer meet up with Liara on the Presidium:

Posted Image
(Aw, don't they look cute?)

Turned out Liara was still 'occupied' when she got back to the Normandy :( but then Jennifer took her to the Ardat-Yakshi Monastery to rescue Samara's daughter(s) and afterwards Liara was happier to see Jennifer when she visited her room.

Phew, glad to be (finally) over that roadblock. :)

Well - I have read over this now - rather heated debate -

I tend to tell my stoy in pictures.. but this has not to be a lot of pictures. Sometimes I'm still overwhelmed from my Shep's  , though

But ... also I do mostly comment on all the posts, give friendly words, showing that I really looked over the thread and just tell everyone how much I appreciate their work. This whole discuss gives me a bad feeling in my stomache.

Also I never used fanfic nor I will - the blog is a bad idea if you want to have pictures in - right ?
I am not using photoshop - but I think tinypic is scaling the pics especially for forums and they enlarge only if you click on it. Plz correct me if I am wrong here.

But I better go to bed now - its far too late anyway here - 1 am + Insomnia since 4 nights - means blurred toughts. Will see tomorrow morning how I feel about the whole thing.

@LadyAly: Blogs on the BSN works the same as forum posts. You've seen my blogs yes? Can do whatever you want.

And it shouldn't give you a bad feeling in your stomach, the premise was saying we love to see everything people contribute, just suggestions to get things better organised, more accessible to people with a crappy line and improve readability without taking away from what people are posting. I've said this before though, it seems to be overlooked.

I mean, I browse this thread from my phone all the time and it handles tons of pictures fine, so huge picspams have never been an issue for me, at least not from a technical standpoint. And I mean, if my laptop is good enough to run Mass Effect, it's good enough to browse an Internet forum.

However, I think if too many pictures are posted at once, I find myself just skimming them rather than really looking at each one. Which is why I think it's better to break them up a bit. More than 5 at once kind of turns into an information overload.

But ANYWAY I think it's time to re-rail the thread because I think this discussion was only initially meant to be a friendly reminder, not some Orwellian crackdown on how we do things around here. Right?

Right.

Anyway, here's some Naomi.

@merylisk, You know what Naomi is backwards.... :3
J/K, my original smuggler on SWTOR name was Naomi and my best friend told me that every time he logged on.
But seriously, I love her cheek bones. As an artist I love looking at people's faces and when I see someone with unique eyes, nose, mouth, or/and other facial features I will study how their features fit on their face, which means I end up staring, which in turn leads to them noticing that I am staring, which in turns leads to all kinds of awkwardness.

Hahaha I totally do that too. And thank you!

edit; I think that's actually a big part of my fascination with creating and looking at femsheps, and making characters in games in general. I love thinking about/observing/drawing faces and it's just another way to mess around and be creative in that regard.

It's an artist thing =P I once stared at a girl in the metro so severely (she had a beautiful profile) that she actually turned around to avoid it? I'd been fighting the urge to ask her if I could take her picture. Then when she got off at my stop, and we were waiting at the same streetlight, I went and asked her.
Fully expected her to be completely weirded out, she wasn't, artist herself laughted, made two pictures. Almost done with the drawing, I have her email, she asked me to send it to her when done =)

Aaanyways /OT
I've been acking to continue with Marie's playthrough, but I've just lacked time, I should be good tomorrow, play some more <3 I have a sneeze-face though, everybody should have a documented sneeze-face I say.

Third, its an artist thing. Well also a customize gamer thing too I think. I want to make characters that look real. Thus I look at real people's faces. That way I can make better looking characters.

Seconded-ed-ed-ed

I do that a lot, especially that it's really good for portrait studies. I sometimes got a few uncomfortable looks, and a woman once left her seat and I had to go apologize to her in the subway :D. Yeah...it's definitely an artist thing.

LMAO!

I would agree if I didn't know these 3( ottemis, red, and mery) were all artists...so I kinda find that to be a rather antural thing myself...even if I find it weird when someone stares at me for long periods of time.

Have another Gabriella...as I'm gonna do the geth sidequest then Virmire with her tonight. :)
