So I've bit the bullet and gone and restarted Rachel from scratch in ME1. In doing so, I realized several things about the first Mass Effect that I had forgotten:
- the lighting is terrible compared to ME2 and especially ME3
- I hate the combat of ME1, just hate it

ME2 spoiled me and ME3 was refined beauty compared to ME1's combat
- the character creator just isn't as nice (or as detailed) as the later games
- I lost Rachel's stunning blue eyes from ME3 and the ponytail doesn't look as nice in ME1 as it does in the final game

So I gave her a different hairstyle for the first game:

I can also now understand why people choose to romance Kaidan.... don't get me wrong, it's still kinda awkward as all hell, but it's an admittedly cute kind of awkward and his personalty works well for Rachel (though this now is making me reconsider having her romance Garrus in ME2.... might have her stay loyal to Kaidan instead).
Also decided to start my alternative version of Diana for ME3, where she had chosen to romance Garrus in ME2 instead of stay loyal to Liara (my original Diana was loyal to Liara and renewed the relationship in LotSB) - to differentiate between the two versions of the same character, I decided to give the Alt-Diana a new hairstyle:
Original Diana (Liara romance)

Alternative Diana (Garrus romance)

I'm actually rather amazed at how well the character looks with her hair pulled back, which now makes it so that all 3 of my FemSheps have changed their hairstyles in ME3.
(it also reminds me at just how much I
hate Ashley's new "sexed-up" hairstyle in ME3.... what freaking career soldier, who dressed and wore her hair professionally in the first game, would now wear her hair that long and have it cover the front of her face?) <_<
Although I did have a full ME2 endgame save of the Alt-Diana, I did admittedly cheat a little bit by instead starting a NG+ with my original Diana and then using Gibbed to add the "ME2 Garrus-romance" flags - since ME3 doesn't technically count the LotSB "Liara-renew romance" flags when importing a ME2 save into the third game (unless you use Gibbed to changed those specific flags from False to True), I figured I'd have the same results as the ME2 save as if I'd just mod a NG+ of the original character and keep all her shiny new guns/armor and be able to upgrade them to Level 10.
Also finishing up my NG+ run of Ellen, might do a write-up on her later.... kind of amazing that the pure Renegade "She-B*tch" that I initially created just to see how screwed up a Shepard could be in ME3 - the same character that I had such a hard time playing through in ME1 and ME2 - is now my second favorite Shepard to play through in ME3, just because of how different her story is compared to my canon Shepard, John.
