non-spoiler shot of UJ from Leviathan.

Looked upon as a side mission like rescuing the Cerberus scientists or helping Jack's students it stacks up as one of the best, but for what it was supposed to be about it was ultimately underwhelming.

Well, I don't know what it was supposed to be but I wouldn't call it underwhelming. In my opinion it was the best DLC in BioWare has released so far in any Mass Effect. It surpassed my expectations, I really enjoyed it.

One spoiler free shot.

I thought I'd be indifferent to the DLC being released today, but it actually was kind of hard watching the youtube videos because I kept seeing all the great screen captures I was missing out on. I miss my Joan. The videos I've seen tend to go paragon so I find myself wondering what the renegade version would be like. Not curious enough since I got the gist of what it was about. After a string of disappointing DLCs from DA:O, I decided I wasn't ever going to buy another Dragon Age DLC again and just youtubed all the ones in DA2 with no regrets. Surprised to experience heartache with the first ME DLC I'm sitting out. (I guess it still bothers me that they tried to be too deep or profound with the ending at Shepard's expense and if they're not ever going to release another post-ending DLC, there really isn't a point, imo.)

I have seen people say that this DLC is just as good, if not better, than LoTSB though. That's quite the endorsement.

Thanks to all for the lovely comments about Gabby's ME 3 intro!

@LadyAly : yoru welcome and thanks!

@laikabaws...it seems we are kinda like that except I do have sheps who romanced Thane, Liara, and Kaidan. Also great shots of the Zaeed DLC mission! The Lipstick she uses is in the default character creator...but her face/skin texture is Ashley's just as it was in ME 2, sort of a homage to Ashley since she died on Virmire.

Ok...since I'm waiting on Leviathan to download. Here are some more pics from last night's run through Mars with Gabby....

I warn you... there may not be screenshot button left after you finish the DLC (well, at least that was the case with me). Looking forward to seeing Gabby doin' stuff and lookin' tuff there.

My non-spoiler Leviathan screenshot with Jenny. Unless "Shep looks at a data pad" spoils something. Just at the beginning and it's reminding me of LotSB. This is a good thing.

Just to reiterate: make sure you talk to all your whole crew on the Normandy after every mission! They all have funny/interesting things to say.

Ah, yeah. Changed definitely. ME3 is harder to work with when taking screenshots (lighting?) when compared to ME1 and 2. Oh, and I'm glad if you find them worth looking at!

@laikabaws
I think you Shep looks extremely cute in second and last pic - she did hit Zaeed, right?

Definitely do. Whatever rig you're running, it gets amazing pics!

re: Leviathan. huh. sounds intriguing.

Non-spoiler of Erica in Leviathan. Have to say the lighting is good, if a bit dark at times. Also, it seems to play better w/ a renegade Shep.

May I say that I officially hate you Tup!  I now have, what most in South Africa drool about, a top of the line internet connection since we moved (we were renting before, so was no use installing ADSL in our landlord's place), and it's only rated at 4096Mbps. You must have a fiber line right to your ME3 machine, right?

Also downloading Leviathan, though not at those speeds... lol

Naah... I have 24 Mbit down & 3 Mbit up ADSL2+ but in reality it's about half that. Not that good considering that my unlimited mobile data for 10 €/month is almost as fast (or could be as fast if my phone wouldn't max out at 7,2 Mbit/s but has better upload speed). It wasn't maxing out the connection there, probably their servers got a beating.

You don't need fiber to get that speed, ADSL is enough. It actually depends a lot on the location/capacity of the server you're downloading from. Here, in Australia, I often get crappy download from many servers (not to mention that my owner's wifi is getting "tired", which slows down the LAN and tend to get me disconnected half-through), but whenever I download something from Origin, it's always in the 900 kbps - 1 Mbps range. The rating of your connection is often well above what you actually can get <_<

I finished it. It was fine, but not super mindblowingly amazing or anything. I got even more disappointed about ME3 retroactively because it was a bit of "what could have been" for me (also if it had been in the base game I feel the ME3 ending would have been less of a blow). I wish I had just watched it on youtube, to be honest, because I liked the story way more than I liked playing it.

But here's one of the few screencaps I took, with Steve making a funny face because more Esteban is always a positive.

Yeah, some great Steve moments in the DLC for sure.

And I agree that the ending would have seemed a LOT less out of left field if Leviathan had been in the vanilla game.

As I beat Leviathan, I have to say, as a standalone story, it's so very cool and adds a really INTERESTING component to the Reapers. As a part of ME3, it does nothing to make the ending better; going so far as to make it worse in my opinion. This, of course, has no effect on my headcanon, which is going to disregard much of the last 15 minutes anyway. What do I mean by all this? Great DLC. Ending still sucks.

Yeah, agreed. I said having this info might have made the ending a bit less of a low blow, but at the end of the day it's still not a great ending (to put it mildly) and confuses the matter further.

But on its own? The DLC was interesting enough.

Finished Leviathan. I can honestly say I liked it, though I have one major issue with it.... IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE FREAKING GAME SINCE DAY ONE!!!! It creates a much better introduction to the Starchild. He is actually foreshadowed which makes a new character introduced in the last ten minutes of the game less jarring. It is beginning to seem like they are going to try and make us understand their 'artistic integrity' through DLCs.

It has a lot of great LI feels... well as long as your LI is alive and didn't cheat on you and is a squadmate. <_< So if your LI isn't Traynor, Thane, or Jacob take them along, you will not be disappointed. Also make sure you speak with your squadies after each mission, they have new dialogue. Which brings me to another point: Squadies have new dialogue!!!!!!!! This pleases me in pleasant ways, all the ME DLC none of the original squadies VO returned just Hale and Meer. (Besides the EC, if you count the EC as a DLC)

All and all I say its worth the money. The first mission has major cheepy factor. And by creepy I mean 'oh my ****ing God get me the **** out of here!!!!' As a fan of games that scare the ****** out of you with atmosphere (Silent Hill) instead of jump out and scare you (Dead Space) I was very pleased.

Z. Shepard: "You guys going to be okay over there?"
Garrus: "Arg... Shepard I'm never drinking with you again."
Kaidan: "Just keep breathing... just keep breathing."

Very true, but then again, the same could be said about Javik and the From Ashes DLC as well (unless you're like me who bought the Collectors Edition and got him for free).

I honestly loved the living hell out of Leviathan and can't wait to play through it again with Diana and Ellen.
Ellen, especially.... she wants that Raider shotgun badly :P and something new to put in her cabin...

Hm. Wonder what ME2 would have been like for me if I'd gotten it soon after it was released and not long after all the cool DLC had been out for weeks or months.

speaking of which, anyone have a particular squaddie you'd recommend trying? I never took Javik or EDI anywhere, for example. Ought to try that, I guess.

Sage - As you play an Adept, I can recommend taking Javik and spending points in Dark Channel if you're a fan of the Biotic Explosion - and hey, who isn't, right? - as it is great for that. Cast on one enemy, hit 'em with throw (or warp, slower cool down though), goes boom and if dead, jumps to another mook, throw, boom....rinse repeat till it times out :)

EDI's Decoy is handy if you can get her to place it in the right spot (just like a Salarian in MP).

Those 2 and Liara are my main squaddies in ME3 so far (played through my Adept and Infiltrator so far). Also, Javik is a good squad-mate (especially on Thessia with Liara) for his dry humour and general comments.

Edit: Also started Leviathan this morning before work (@SebAusFR - another aussie here) and got a little into it, and so far, really liking where it's going, a little LotSB'ish like someone else stated, which is a good thing.

I'm doing it on a relatively fresh (ME3 only) FemShep engineer who hasn't done any of the "main" missions yet (Grissom Academy, Mars, some touring of the Citadel) and am interested to see what effect it has on the rest of the game from this point. Plan on hopefully completing it tonight.

And random question time. Did your femshep have dreams of traveling the stars?

Oh yes. Hannah was a spacer and a service brat, so she spent most of her youth in artificial gravity. When her mother's ship was in dock Hannah would try her best to get the Captain (her nickname for Hannah Sr) to take her on tours of it, and whenever she watched it depart she'd think "Someday that's going to be me in there."

For all the horros that lurk in the vast darkness out there, Hannah has never lost her sense of wonder.

She looks so amazing in this pic - guh, I wish I could take screencaps from my XBox instead of having to point a camera at my tv screen...

I like to take EDI on missions involving squadmates from ME2, in case they have anything to say about the AI running around in her new mobile platform. And I like taking Javik on a lot of the missions, especially Thessia. If you haven't done a runthough of that mission with him, you really ought to. Although I wanted to give him four black eyes by the time he was done taunting Liara in the temple, he's got an amazing character moment with the asari sqad leader you meet up with at the start of the mission. Also, you get all kinds of fun biotic asplosions with those two (I saved Ashley, so Kaidan's not available to me).

(Kyrie looks good with the red highlights in the Palaven mission though. Just saying.)

I'm currently all Image IPB about Leviathan, though, because my current ME3 playthrough was stuck between Tuchanka and the Cerberus attack on the Citadel, so I had to finish those and didn't have time to play it before I had to get to bed. Sometimes this whole "working nights" thing isjust mean to me.
