@Tup3xi Thanks, that's the look I was going for hehe (being 99% renegade). She's already creepy enough, but lighting+that attitude=even more mayhem.

Ooooohhh~ Thanks for the tips guys. If ever I do a new playthrough I'll use fraps as soon as I figure out how to set it up. Unfortunately, all my ME3 playthrough screenshots have pink borders (silly screenshot program) :'D

Yikes top, I'll leave this here...(sorry for the pink borders--I screencapped my entire ME3 playthroughs already)

More main Shep Leviathan playthrough I guess?

Fraps is pretty nice. The free version only takes BMP’s, which means huge file sizes, but you can convert the files with Paint and just delete the extras.

Also has a mode for taking a shot every N seconds until you press the key again, very handy.

Taking them as BMP's are faster since they aren't compressed and they're also lossless. I have the paid version but I still take BMP's because I will convert the ones that I keep into PNG with OptiPNG. Also instead of using the repeated screen capture function I just record lossless video at 30 frames per second @ 1920x1080, that way I will not miss anything. B)

Any reasonable implementation will first (necessarily) grab a BMP—which, for those not familiar with formats, includes every single pixel on the screen at that time individually—and then offload the conversion to a background thread and delete the raw bitmap when it‘s done.

The conversion is always optional, of course, if you prefer to use something else. For most people, though, I think it’d be easier to just set it to autoconvert to either PNG (which is lossless) or JPG (which is lossy, but works just fine for most game footage), than to have to do that conversion manually (and then delete the other images—and you should do it in this order because Windows is annoying about deleting single files).

It’s kind of the same thing with video. While it’s true that you can go through it to extract the frames you want…for most people just getting an image every 0.5 secs or whatever would be fine. Less data to comb through, unlikely to miss much.

I like to capture in BMP with FRAPs because of the delay when using other formats.

Then go and convert everything to JPG or PNG with a batch converter (I use xnconvert). One click, done. Then I can sort through those. When I have 500 screenshots to sort through, opening each one to convert in Paint (or Photoshop) is not practical.

Apparently Fraps isn’t a reasonable implementation  A batch converter is a good option, certainly.

I use XnView when I need to resize and/or convert to jpg (I also use it for batch processing if needed). I'm a bit "pro command line tools" so I just batch process all screenshots I decided to keep through OptiPNG for archiving.

I used to use my old trusty PSP9 for batch processing before but the jpg and png encoders aren't top notch in it (in jpg's case worse quality with same size and in png's case larger file size - it's pretty hard to beat OptiPNG) and it's basically the same even in the latest version. I absolutely love the Python macros, though!

Converting to png with highest possible compression is time consuming, if FRAPS would take always in bmp and then convert them in low priority background it would be nice (and delete the temporary bmp image) but for those with just dual core CPU's it would take a pretty large hit in game. FRAPS uses pretyt light compression for png's but it's still not fast enough.

Windows has a command-line? ^_^

Yes…then you’d opt for the BMP.

Tup3xi: I always love the effect that blue lighting has on any Shepard - love her facial expressions in those shots, very fierce!

I'm taking Jane Elizabeth through another ME playthrough as I wanted to put ELE's lovely HD texture mods to good use, and let me just say I am extremely surprised (mostly at Bioware - don't ask me why, 'cause I'm hardly tech-savvy, but it's really odd how a simple texture swap makes Jane look *more* realistic in ME and ME2 than in ME3!)

Image IPB

That game has a *ton* of good screenshot moments. Fraps and I have developed a very, very amicable relationship - it trusts me to keep it operational, I trust it to make some great screenshots! ;-)

Wow! Which mods did you use for Allison? Love the lips and eyes. If no mods were used, I'll just pretend I never asked you this question...

Nice, Discrepancy! I personally think ME/ME2 look better even without any mods—let alone with :pinched:

“This better be important.”  (This may be my new fave.)
Image IPB

Catching up with Garrus. Just having him around lifts my spirits.
Image IPB

…Although maybe I should avoid looking like I’m about to kiss him?
Image IPB

After all, Liara would have hooked into the video feeds and might get the wrong idea.

Oh, Liara... The Normandy has never exactly been the most private place, let alone with the newShadow Broker around! That hairstyle looks really good on your Shepard, by the way - I'm also a big fan of the outfit. My Shepard wears it all the time, shame we need Gibbed to use it.

And yeah, I think you're right - many NPC's just look like goofy wax dolls. I'm still not quite sure why ME3 looks off in comparison to the previous two the previous two games - the lighting has improved, and most of the graphics have been upgraded... Art design in combination with whacky new character tools, perhaps?

Hey guys, I've been lurking in this thread but never actually got the chance to share my own Shep!
All your femsheps look great and I really love reading their journey through all these pages.

So here we go! That's my canon Melody Shepard , Mel to close friends. Been with her since ME1 and 'till the end.
Image IPB

Name: Melody Shepard
Backround history: Earthborn
Notoriety: Sole survivor
class: Infiltrator (with biotic potential)
All. : Renegon (Though in ME3 mostly paragon)

Mel was born on Earth and had a really awful childhood. She was raised in the streets of New York and joined a gang at  quite a young age in order to feel some stability and safety, the feeling that she belonged somewhere for once. She never met her parents and up to the Akuze incident she always thought they were alive and they were to blame for letting her go though all this. Thinking back ,after Akuze, she realised how stubborn she's been and decided it was time to put them to rest , so she could move on.

Shepard is a high skilled Infiltrator, always  top of her class and an N7 to the bone. She loves her rifles and has a weird tendancy to collect and give them names. When she met Zaeed they had a seriously long conversation about Jessie & Lythe (her widow). It was totally creepy. And weird. And funny.
Image IPB

Melody has a good sence of humor and is actually a pretty relaxed person once you get to know her (ugh..figures) but on the battlefield she is mostly an ice queen. Strategic ,supercautious and methodical , she tries to get the job done no matter what . If something gets in her head, it's a done deal. She sympathises but to a degree.
Image IPB
Joker is her medicine when feeling down and Garrus her best bro. Not to mention she loves Grunt to bits.

Aaand yeah, she's a little loca at times. Or..most of the time.

@lilitheris : DAT Shep! Beautiful screens you got there, not to mention I love the film grain effect.
@laikabaws: Kyrie is amazing ,reminds me a lot of one of my Sheps. :D Blue lighting suits her like crazy.

Photoshop has a built in Image Processor that does batch conversions in one click! That's what I use.

I use.... I can't remember the program name. Irfan I think?

Anyway, I just go through the bmps I get, and crop the photos and then save them as jpgs and upload them. When I don't spend too much of my weekend sleeping instead of playing me2. *sigh*

I've been using FRAPS to get png's but not liking the less than specified picture capturing rate I get - specified 1/sec, actually more like 1/3sec - but after reading some recent posts, will give capturing BMP's and then converting to png and see if that performs better.

Thanks for the tips as well Ladies & Gents, don't know why I didn't think to ask about it earlier, hehe.

Femshep totally needs some slimmer, lighter armour in SP. Since ME2 it just seems that all armour is for soldiers and vanguards, and adepts/sentinels/infiltrators just look kind of overly heavily kitted out. :P

That's why I used Liara's armour in ME2 for Cathy - it looks a bit more adepty.

@N7Calibrator Welcome! Thanks for complimenting Kyrie~ I guess blue lighting does wonders for all Shepards.

Melody looks awesome and appropriately intimidating at the same time; love her glaring at the light and that fierce pose. Thanks for sharing her background as well; I like reading those. Also, post a lot more. I'm a newbie posting here myself, but everyone here is nice~

As for everyone, thanks for the tips. I will bookmark this page to get an idea of what programs to find (after I clean my pc). I'll probably use fraps for another ME1 playthrough (before I quit playing ME altogether...unless there's interesting SP DLC).

Shy Kyrie

For adepts something slimmer would be better. Especially when compared to other adepts in the game. BioWare should start milking while people still are willing to pay...
