so, I remembered this thing I had in my fanfic archives. I'd written a bit of fluff to end Shepard/Kaidan's love story - anepilogue to the epilogue, if you will - then worked on it a bit when I thought the femshep.com fanfic prompt was going to be something after the main story. I then shelved it, thinking, "wah! they all die, what does it matter?" and forgot about it. Then, after posting my take on the endings, it was like I felt weirdly freed from the endings and once again became convinced shep and kaidan *didn't* die.

strange, yes, I'm sure, but anyhow, it's a little bit of Shenko, if you care to read.

@Crash: Very... anime. My main complaint is: I've seen quite a few series and manga, I know they can make a female character who is a young woman look like a young woman and not a teenager. (Say, Motoko Kusanagi or Faye Valentine.)

That's great! Though... Ear rings and any other piercings are the first things one has to be without in the army for safety reasons. Still, really, really nice.

^^Everything out, at least that was the case when I was there (I obviously don't have any but others did). Hair is another thing, we had to cut it short. Women should tie it and everything that covers your eyes would be forbidden for sure. I do not really know about how long the hair can be for women before you have to tie it. But game is a game and omni hair gel would do wonders. The picture is made so that the ear thing kinda stands out, almost feels like it's intentional so I guess that's why it stuck out.

EDIT:
There's no maximum length limit for women hair, but it has to be tied. Back of the neck must be bare.

That rule is enforced when you're in regular army; it is relaxed when you're a special operator(like Shepard); nobody will run around and tell you to keep it short unless it is out of control. Special assignments/tasks require that you look like a civilian or that you blend with locals. Not just for infiltration purpose but also to get more cooperation and intel from civilians. Spec op command usually doesn't care how you look as long as you get the job done and don't bring embarrassment to your unit.
If you going to die, you might as well look good doing it; but you don't wanna die because looking good was your priority. 
It has to be noted that functional gear/look help complete missions flawlessly. Lighter/less is usually better.Except when it comes to mags.

About Shepard statue, i like the above version better than the one featured on the previous page(though it looks good and does have a certain anime feel).

The stuff I quotes is the base, in some cases it can be even more restrictive. Our peacekeepers in Afghanistan, for example, naturally have those restrictions (and the work a lot with the locals). As long as you wear the uniform, those restrictions apply. I can only speak of ourselves though. I don't know what are the restrictions in other coutures (let alone in the future - ). Depends what you mean by spec ops but I'd imagine restrictions to be even higher (it would be quite tragic if you miss a shot because your hair suddenly covers your eyes...). But this is getting slightly a bit too off topic so have a femShep!

Well, part of the reason I gave Naomi bangs in ME2 is that she's no longer subject to Alliance regs. And she spends a lot of time in this game trying to pass as/win the loyalty of various civilians and merc groups, not to mention her squad, who are mostly civilians and/or mercs/free agents. It makes sense to me that she'd opt for something a bit more stylish.
