Naomi, on the other hand, is always very conscious of her appearance. She know from her experience in gangs that looking the part is as important as walking the walk and talking the talk. So, she rocks a variety of casual outfits (including dresses) depending on her mood and the situation. In my headcanon, she bought a ton of really nice dresses on Ilium, and likes to wear them around the ship sometimes just to throw people off.

She looks stunning in that dress.

The thread slowing down is one of the reasons i supported posting our Shepard's entries here instead of only in our blogs; it did provide us with excellent reading material, a huge variety of topics to discuss and inspiration for character/background growth.

It also made the thread extremely tedious to read.
I'm not trying to be or sound offensive, but it's not really fun when you have to scroll thrice your screen height just to get through ONE post.

Every other forum out there would have told you exactly the same in that case: link to it!

Wow, this thread is really slowing down. Only three posts today? :(

How about a question to get things moving again...

Does your Shepard have, for the most part, one casual outfit that she wears the entire game, or does she change it up based on her mood/the mission/the occasion? To broaden the question, do you imagine that your Shepard has a distinct sense of style, or is she more practical minded when it comes to her choice of clothing?

All my Sheps are wearing the same outfit (first casual).  It's my favorite of all the casual outfits and since none of my Sheps has any sense of style they'll keep that outfit:D

@Metal-Dragon-Kiryu: It looks really great...can't wait to see the next update

Today I continued Sofia's PT after a veeery long time...kinda forgot what I had in mind for her:unsure:

Strange. People complain about too many pictures and too little discussion. And now there are complaints about too much discussion, not enough of ________, what exactly? I didn't mind that time a few months back when a lot of member posted bios. I thought it was great, actually, because it provided a good break from the long series of pictures we had all grown accustomed too and helped put context into what pictures were being shared with others. I don't remember any overly-long fan fiction being posted, just biographies and frankly, those are so much easier to scroll through than linked images that can take forever to load.

So which is it? No string of paragraphs? No string of pictures? Or do we put a word count now on what we type, the same way we limit ourselves to five pictures per post?

Edit: And posting a link never has the same effect as a direct copy and paste. People like the feling that what they post gets some exposure and maybe some input. A link can be impersonal and kind of guarantees whatever content is being shared would have less views than if it were an actual post instead.

Funny that we had the same restrictions in the old thread in the ME2 Section and everything worked just fine without mammoth posts or huge complaints.

I've stated my opinion, more I will not do under any circumstance.
If you want to post a whole novel, you go right ahead.

Mammoth posts or huge complaints? I'm not sure if you're referring to what I posted up above? I don't recall ever seeing any post that contained an obscene amount of text, and if they were a bit wordy, I never found it to be an issue. I suppose if someone were to post a "novel", as you put it, they would then have the option of posting the first few paragraphs and then a link. That said, I've hung around the older thread enough times to know that while there were guidelines for posting images, there was nary a mention of word count or any issues that I can recall about it.(In fact, some of the "wordiest" posts were from members like Sage, and I doubt you would complain then...) It's hard to understand the tone of thread posts but I honestly do sense a bit of hostility (?) from your reply and I can't imagine why that would be the case, so correct me if I'm wrong. Anyhow, I'd love to see more text on what characters are being posted.

@Metal-Dragon-Kiryu - She looks great.  Love the textures on the armor and weapon.

@LadyAly - Thanks for the comment on UJ. :)

Hackett Question: For most of my Shepards they respect him in the same way they respect the chain of command. To some he almost as much a mentor as Anderson, to others he is just another cog in the wheel, albeit a much higher cog.  Erica's the only one w/ any real problem w/ him as she resented being "used" in the renegade mission in ME1 and in Arrival.  Still, she bleeds Alliance blue and he is her superior.  That all said I've been a fan of Lance Henrikson since Near Dark.

Uniforms:

Image IPB
Erica likes to wear the standard Alliance uniform as a symbol that she is just one of the crew like anyone else.  The respect comes from her actions, not what she wears. UJ and Susan wore the Alliance uniform the most for pretty much the same reason.

Image IPB
April on the other hand prefers to wear the Commander uniform most of the time.  On casual days she will wear the standard Alliance uniform. She's very "by the book" on dress codes.  Makeup is a separate matter entirely. Diane, my full renegade. also wears the Commander uniform. She's earned the stripes and she's damn well going to let people know it.

Image IPB
Out of all my femsheps Jaime rocked the dress better than any. The short hair gave her a bit of a Janet Leigh look while wearing it.

Image IPB
UJ didn't look too bad in the dress either ...

Image IPB
... though some days you have to choose comfort over everything.

Image IPB
Sometimes style is not what you wear, but how you wear it.  Seriously, UJ likes the Alliance uniform best because it matches her eyes.  ;)

Image IPB
Had she lived, UJ probably would have made a stylish Human Councilor.

I can understand why it causes emotion one way or the other.
Some people in the thread preferr these long blocks of text linked in the thread because it improves overall readability, while still giving the opportunity to read and comment on said texts. It also preserves the stories somewhere easily found back for those that want to do that.

Some don't mind the big blocks of text, and some think the request to limit them in the thread is unreasonable.

This discussion was visited when some including me, opted the suggestion to link to them (like most ifnot all (fanfic) writers do, honestly). Some didn't agree but most decided to do it.

Now this topic is revisited again because some (not me nor silver, we're acting in responce) seem to feel the suggestion took something AWAY from them, while it was suggested as a solution to fit all. When something is decided upon and is done in the thread, and someone decides to randomly bring it up again in a manner expressing their displeasure with it, it is like saying:
"This is what I want, and I don't really care what others feel about it." and/or "My feelings supersede those of the group." While the suggested solution took nothing away from anyone, it is suggested to link to the thread dying out, there not being enough content in the thread etc etc. This makes no sense, seeing the content is still linked to in the thread, and can still be discussed in the thread.

As much as I or anyone having supported offsite fic linking shouldn't feel bad about being 'called out', I personally do. I feel nothing for causing a new incident, because in the end what the hell does it matter.
And honestly, we can't force anyone taking our suggestion into consideration, so if you'd rather post it in here be my guest. But if we are being called out, in a not so positive way, it's NOT strange we'd respond and not be too happy.

I'd like for this to not be a topic causing people to be butthurt when the suggestion was made to FIT ALL.
Flies, I'm just quoting you btw, to respond directly to the not getting the negative tone comment, other then that it really just relates to the general subject, not so much your remarks in specific. If you felt called out, it's not my intent.

I'll personally not visit this subject again, in the end people can do what they want.
I'm gonna go listen to some music, and finish the casual outfit texmod. I'll come link to it when it's done.

Bios: We didn't have any restriction on text because there wasn't any need for it. ME2 was the second of the trilogy and we all had the third game to look forward to. ME3, however, is essentially over and done with, but lots of people are still attached to their Shepards. Also, no other game in the franchise needed as much head canon as ME3 did, w/ several questions still unanswered. That said, it is proper netiquette to provide outgoing links to fic rather than copy and paste. Personally, as long as it's not "wall 'o text", I don't care either way.

It sounded as though Saturn was referring to the time when we posted bios on our character unless I must have missed some sort of novel-festival over the summer. (And Saturn's post didn't strike me as being harsh criticism meant to stir up sh_t) I've gone through many older pages in the past couple of months and they are filled with the usual picture series and occasional discussion which is why Silver's reply is confusing and why his latest response to my post even more so because he comes across as a tad hostile. I don't feel that what I said earlier was absurd and if anyone knows of my posting habits, they'd know that I'm certainly not one who is inclined to post messages that take up half the page so it's not as though I'm being defensive. I suppose now that we've explained ourselves, we can move along~

Ottemis, I definitely didn't intend to make it seem as though I was calling you out, and I obviously agree that lengthy fan-fiction should be linked.

And, correct me if I'm wrong, but as long as we're not talking gigantic walls of texts, I'm pretty sure it's okay to post brief (i.e. one or two paragraph) character bios in the thread. The rule about linking only applies to longer writing, right?

I love this thread and didn't mean to rock the boat! It's just sad to see it slowing down a bit, and I figured that less overall posts would mean less need to restrict post length/content, since a lot of people's issues with the lengthy text posts was that they got buried so quickly given how quickly the thread moved.

But anyway, I don't write fan-fiction, so this really doesn't affect my posting habits either way. Just thought I'd clarify that I really didn't mean to offend anyone!

I don't think that I have ever seen too long post here. On the other hand it feels a bit stupid to post one liner to bio/fic that wouldn't be too long (people do that because they are afraid). I don't like the idea that this would end up a link collection. If the post is going to be ridiculously long then few paragraphs and read more link is okay. I have to say that I usually do not click links because few words and one link is not really enough to grab my attention, usually.

Ya is basically it, just a general "don't overdo it" much like with the pics. And don't worry, honestly I wasn't even gonna respond hoping the topic would move past it, prolly shouldn't have responded when it didn't, but meh.
In the end it's not worth the agrivation anyways, whichever side of the fence we're on, and the last thing I wanna do is demotivate people from posting anything here, because that was never the intent, you know?

That's what was suggested. And it's logical it doesn't interest everyone, but that's your choice. And it should be, plus if you'd want to read lengthy bio's or write-ups about particular shep's playthroughs and their experiences, you can find them all together now, instead of scattered in an 800 page thread. But blah, in the end that's just my pref.

Edit: At any rate, almost done, doing the buckles and other metal bits: snip progress shot

Like Flies said i wasn't being negative. All i'm saying is that we should post more of our bio/fanfic. If anybody saw negative criticism in my previous post well, there is none. It is merely a suggestion to revisit that subject and maybe go back to that kind of sharing. I agree that it can get out of control, but in the end it is better than the actual state of things(we'll just figure out a way to regulate post lengh).I don't know about you but i'd rather see too many walls of text than none at all. The thing is what people use to post here were awesome stories, very well crafted backgrounds. I believe we can all gain from that. I know i do. And I also think it is for the benefit of the thread.

Edit: I think what Flies, Jamie and merylisk are suggesting is reasonable and could help.

A late thank you on my behalf as well :P. Ah, I've always liked pretty much everything about Carry, she's statuesque. But most of all I enjoyed reading through her bio in this thread, very inspiring.

@SaturnRing :  I really loved reading through your Akuze entry for Deidre, I hope you'll write some more! It's always intresting to see how  everyone concepts that incident , especially with not much info and details given by the writers. Very creative stuff there.

So, I was going to continue Melody's playthrough buuut I came to face a weird fact. I miss the good times  ,so I thought I'd start over a playthrough in ME1 again and work my way up (hopefully they'll have releashed more dlcs by that time). Introducing my other favorite femshep, Electra. I'll be swift this time around:
