Haha, wow, so I'm not the only one who thought while watching Avengers that she'd make a great Femshep.

I haven't seen the movie so I would have to hear her voice. Can't imagine Shepard sounding much different from Hale; or have the young girlish tone of someone like Natalie Portman.

Don't want to sound ungrateful, but is this really all they were alluding to when they said they had something planned for FemShep? A new wallpaper? =/

I never kept my hopes up about the Femshep "special" thingy , but I actually like this. Also, it's a Patryk Olejniczak artwork, so double nice!

Heh, I love keeping the scar consistently through all three games too. And I have to agree, texmod is God in that
sense =) I'm sporting one on Marie too, most proud of her custom texture personally.

The facetex you made for Marie is really really neat (I believe it's Ash's texture with no eyebrows?) and the lip scar actually reminds me of this awesome guy. ^_^ I always imagined my Shep got that scar during her first Spec Op when she was younger , so it's pretty much a big deal for her. The Illusive Man knew well of this emotional attachment of hers and used that in his favor during the Lazarus Project.

Getting the scar to work properly in game was a pain, but it was worth it in the end. I used the Scar Continuity Project at first but it overwrites the glowing scars and made creepy shadows all over her face ,so I had to give it a try at least myself. The thing is I just wanted the lip scar &  I wanted it to have depth (hence new normal maps). I sadly had exported the original textures in BMP format , so trying to get them working in DDS or TGA format for better performance was another pain. I still can't make DDS textures work in ME2 ,everything turns out all glowy and weird. =/ Anyway, the day I got it working right in all three games was a glorious day. (excuse my massive rant :P)

@N7Calibrator, agreed, your project with the retextured N7 dress is AMAZING. Kind of obsessed with the black and white one.

Thanks! :wizard: That one is my personal fave. I'm really glad you liked it, I have three more on the way. :)

I agree about Vanguards. I think they often predisposed to very strong personalities. I will actually hint on that a little in my next Akuze update - and on how difficult it is for some of them(biotics in general) to climb up Alliance ranks.I checked your project btw: Really cool outfits; you should post some of them.

If I recall correctly only Kaidan mentions how tough life can be for biotics in general (or even talks about them), which is kinda sad since it seems like Bioware is leaning towards the soldier class more or less. Which is fine when my Shep's a soldier, but it takes something away from the other classes imo. Some biotic animations here and there would be good though. :P
And big thanks for taking the time to check it out! =)

@Flies_by_Handle: Ah, the good times in ME2 when you could actually see that Phalanx or Mattock during the cutscenes. I do blame lazy programming as well. :P Btw, I'd never say never if I were you; I really like your writing style, shows you have a deep connection and understanding/respect for each one of your characters.
@Tup3xi: Maybe I'm alone in this one, but I do like that first outfit Shepard wears in Vancouver. She looks toned enough, though it's a dealbreaker when you notice her body mesh keeps changing with each outfit.

Erm, Marie used to use the Ash texture only, but because I wanted the scar from ME1 to show up in ME2 and 3 too without affecting the renegade scarring, much like yourself, I customised the facial texture. Once i started, it got more and more complex, took quite some tweaking before I was happy.

Her lips are Ash's, the mole next to her mouth is Eva's, the facial texture apart from that mole is a cross between Ash's and DefJane's (little freckles across her nose only and just under the eyelids). The eyeshadow is DefJane's resticted to the lids ontop of Ash's lids, because that seam looks really good on Ash's texture. Custom normal map that includes the scarring.
This pic shows the facial tex off pretty nice, clicky for big:

Raine's the only one for which I made a 'scar-backstory' sofar. Most of the old crew on the thread have already seen it, here's a manip of the moment she got them:

@Ottemis and her texmod addiction,
I was listening to her as she was playing ME3. I think she played all of five minutes and stopped to make texmods to fix textures. Thanks to AislinnTrista and Ottemis I too have become addicted to texmods. I eat up anything smarteck, Ottemis, or JeanLuc761 puts out. I'm spoiled, I like my shinys.

I want a high-res DLC for ME3 like a fat kid wants cake.

I'm sorry if I sounded rude (That wasn't my intention). I just don't really know, I never used any Texture Mods.:(

And "" as the reaction makes me feel a bit insecure.

It's the chest piece on Shepard's armor. In the second picture, it's way higher resolution.

Eh, I wouldn't feel so bad. It's not very noticeable unless you are real particular about those type of things.

@N7Calibrator: Thank you for your comment on my character profiles. I'm not a writer but I'm happy to know I was able to show, maybe on a basic level, how my characters are.

@JamieCOTC: Colbie Shepard is awesome. She's got the right sort of face. Thank you for sharing it with us.

What I've noticed, is how FemShep is more of an individual avatar of how we, the players, see the character. I see her as someone who is allowed to break the rules, and is larger than life. We've all put something we like into her, weather it's appearance or story, or interpretations.

I've not touched Mass Effect in a while (still waiting for more substantial DLC.) But I still check-in!

Did this real quick today - guess I was inspired by the new wallpaper.  I like default, but the makeup is too heavy for my taste.

Well, I think they're all very pretty, and interesting and unique looking as well!

One of the interesting things about making a character is how obvious the inadequacy of the character generator interface becomes when I place my Shepard into the game and see her move and talk and raise her eyebrows and realize that she's not even remotely resembling the character I thought I was creating. And then see how that can affect how a scene that is otherwise precisely the same plays out.

For example, here's Bill and Heli where they confront Harken and he hits on them both:

Is it a dominance thing? Is it an insult? Is it simply a sleazy flirt? The actual answer is pretty immaterial beyond the simple fact that it's different for these two characters. Just the way Heli looks and that combined with how she sounds makes her seem guileless.
Posted Image
Compare that to Bill, who just seems more aloof, or assured:
Posted Image
And it really makes a difference compared to Cooper, who looked horribly harsh at the start of the game:
Posted Image
But has softened up considerably, yet still seems capable of possessing a nasty side:
Posted Image
(BTW, enjoy Kaiden's Big Bird Action Wear in the background of that one.)
Especially when this is her reaction to being flirted with:
Posted Image

Still, it seems that making her be brutal to outsiders but very loyal to her crew is a lot easier than it would be for Heli and Bill.

@cwhitney1972, those are really good points. I've been thinking about that a lot during my current trilogy playthrough (and my first with a Shepard who isn't Anja, my main, the one in my avatar). Situations just seem different with Naomi, and not just because she's a Renegade. I think of her differently in a lot of ways just because of her looks, and because I interpret everyone's reactions to her through the lens of the fact that I'm imagining that they're reacting to the way she looks, when in fact they would obviously react the same way to any Shepard, haha. But facial expressions do read really differently on different characters, and it's definitely interesting to notice how that influences your perception of the story!

edit: To elaborate and be more specific, the way I imagine them, Anja does not think of herself as being attractive. She has a certain grace and elegance that she is completely unaware of, and she doesn't really think about her looks or how they affect things. And some of her features are rather striking and unconventional. She keeps her hair short because who needs flowing locks of auburn curls when you're fighting a war?

Posted Image

Naomi, on the other hand, thinks she's hot sh*t and uses that to her advantage. She knows the power of sex appeal and I imagine that she is very aware of her looks and how they affect people's perceptions of her. She's also very disdainful of most male attention (except Garrus, of course).

Yeah, it's always a little disappointing that no one ever mentions Jill's shaved head, or Cooper's black lipstick, two rather obvious elements of their appearance, but still, it's real easy to imagine that they're sitting there, silently making their own judgments, whatever they are. If Jack had made some reference to Jill's hair in ME2, it would've been a real minor thing, but it would have been a great moment. (Jill is back on ppg 775-6, btw)

But then both Bill and Heli object to Harken calling them "Princess" and it's remarkable to me how starkly different those two moments come off. For Heli, did he mean it sarcastically? For Bill, was he being just a smidgen more defensive?

I saw that posted in the Mass Effect subreddit over at Reddit.com. Same actress from the Avengers, apparently. It's a good photoshop. Kind of reminds me of Demi Moore.

www.reddit.com/r/masseffect/comments/10rkrw/i_shopped_colbie_smulders_as_femshep_xpost_from/

She's probably more well known for her long-standing role in How I Met Your Mother than the rather small role in The Avengers, but meh... People only latch on to what is cool in the moment I guess.

I tend to agree. The difference is way too slight for me to even... No offence to the mod maker; I have modded stuff myself in the past, so I know it must have been hard work. It's just, seen at the ingame resolution it's maybe a 10% improvement.
