I quite like the haircuts. More options always better but I can't see myself making a Shep with long hair or anything.

I'd love to have a long hair option for my dude Shep. Something nice looking.

To be honest, I really love a handsome man with a shaved head.  (Could be why my MaleShep has one).

I'd love to see MaleShep get more options, however.  It's a challenge in the CC as it is, with so few features to choose from.

So lucky. I adore dudes with long healthy dark hair.

And yes Dude Shep is in severe need of more CC options. D:

Yeah that always stumped me tbh, the lack of options for dudeshep.

Despite the fact that I agree with you 100%, you need to face facts. There are a great deal of femShep supporters that will not tolerate maleShepard getting any attention at all. At. All. Because in their mind, you're either with them (femShep supporters) or you're against them. To them, there is no happy medium; to them, it is impossible to support Commander Shepard as a character and not as one specific gender. They are the ones forcing this gender divide, and there's nothing people like us can do about it. If they specifically desire gender segregation (and force a fandom split), they will get it.

And they did.

The days of just being a fan of the game are over. You're not allowed to be a fan of both incarnations of the same character.

Nope. What I'm doing here is expressing frustration on what they've done to the community as a whole.

There have been bad moments for both Shep teams. Its not all them. Its not all us. But the Commander Shepard thread proved that they could not only coexist, but thrive quite well together. And, as I tried to state before, using words like "them" and "they" can be a nasty way to stereotype entire groups.

I don't believe that most of the "femshep community" actively persues personal attacks on mshep community members. And vise versa.

But in the past, a few prominate members of the femshep community were unfairly made fun of (admittedly by a 15 year old brat) and because their community is MUCH smaller than the mShep community, they all felt the effects more than the rest of us.

Yet I saw something remarkable when I came first here. The original femshep community consisted of something around 20 - 25 people, I'd say roughly 16 of them being women. Yet their thread (in the ME2 forum) remains the most active and longest maintained (on a day to day basis) thread probably in this site's history.

The mShep thread was far quieter, being around 60 pages or mostly pics.

Originally I attributed this VAST difference in activity levels to sex: feeling that the women within that thread had created a (fairly welcoming) "sisterhood" that still retained a feeling of exclusivity. But I was wrong. I joined the thread, and though I was a new comer, I eventually fit in. This wasn't a "sisterhood", or even an exclusive club.

It was simply a community. A community of people, all willing to support each other, respect each other, and occasionally but heads for the sake of spicing up the expected monotony that comes with a 1500+ page thread.

And you know what? Within 5 hours, the new femShep thread has expanded almost 3 times as fast as the mShep thread. And I predict that within the week, it'll have reached 30+ pages, while the mShep thread will have only reached 15 or so.

That's the power of community. That's why I fought and am fighting for the Commander Shepard thread. We can-- hell, we HAVE achieved that there. And with two threads about [sex]-Shepard I'm afraid that the other thread will die out. And I know that the mShep thread will die out within a month.

No, its nobody's fault. But I'm still gonna fight-- against the "facts". Shepard is worth it. The members of BSN are worth it.

Well, pot <-> kettle, let's drop it and move on. Looking back is aproductive, specially in our current situation. I'd like to see each of the threads stay civil where both and/or either fans can share and enjoy themselves

But, alas, you are right. Facts are facts. If people actually seem happier in segregated communities, than no amount of me moaning about how integration allows for cooperation and illumination is going to change anything.

Sadly true. :(

I'm sorry, but, what? This is just 100% untrue. I have several shepard's of both genders and I play them equally.my two canon's of both genders are Siblings in my headcanon (my male shep is a self insert so he's younger than my femshep so she's THE Commander Shepard in my story) I AM a fan of both Genders but femshep is under represented on the BSN and in marketting so I refer to Shepard with "she" most times but I love my dudesheps just like I love my femsheps. When Woo said I could make a femshep thread he didn't mention a dudeshep thread, but I asked Ottemis to make one so there could be some unity between the two fan bases without competition. This way we can cut down on the shots at either gender and have a positive thriving community for both.Eingefügtes Bild

This makes me very, very sad. :(

I truly wish that fans could just be fans without people dragging real life politics into it, but it seems that is a pipe dream. Seems the fight for equality is going to be a long, hard battle since we have to fight with everyone and not just one gender.

Well I agree it would be a noble goal, but (and not to rail on you but to emphasize the problem) your preconception about femshep fans as you've just voiced isn't going to clear the air nor promote a combined thread is it?
You can't place blame and then moarn the fact that it's impossible. And seeing we'll be stuck with people and their preconceptions from either side, it's not viable (yet). So let this be a stepping stone towards respecting eachother yes?

If we'd all be Jesus, there'd be worldpeace.

Ottemis, I respect people that show respect to others. As Commander Shepard hirself said: 'Funny thing about respect, people think they deserve it. Truth is, respect has to be earned.'

That being said, I'll stop derailing the topic now. I do apologize for my frustrated outbursts. I only hope that the people that support Commander Shepard as a character continue to post in that thread instead of the segregated ones.

Ahh I disagree, the 'respect is earned' argument is the same as 'guilty until proven innocent', 'the glass is half empty'.
I personally choose the alternative.
And yeah we'll just have three options now. More to go around? =)
