About the romances, I would really like if Shepard's dialogue didn't automatically assumed you are flirting with the opposite sex... I've never played MaleShep in ME2 so I don't know how that goes, but for FemShep her opening line to Jacob was so sexed up it made NO sense. And it never changed... ?!
In ME1 when you first talk to Kaidan for example, it's very business like and so is his reply, it doesn't change until AFTER flirting has occurred, if you don't select those lines with him he stays professional. So please for the love of the enkindlers, I hope we get that back!
Some of that seems to be the writers. They always seem to make female make the move first in Mass Effect. Which is quite strange. The male always has to accept the invitation basically. With MaleShep, you never actually make the first move, the female does, and then you have to say "yes" or ignore it. The same seems to happen with FemShep. Jacob expresses no romantic feelings towards you until you say something, and if you don't, he assumes you won't (and it's far easier missed than any other LI in the series as a result), Garrus says nothing to show interest, and while Thane talks to you, he doesn't actually make a move. Only FemShep does. I suppose it'd be refreshing for this to be here, if it weren't such a reoccuring thing here. The only real exception is Kaidan, because he DOES make the move on you first (potentially). He makes a remark on the Citadel before you visit the council when it's you Kaidan and Ashley. I don't think it flags romance, but it's still worth noting.
But Jacob's line with FemShep does change. After you actually START the romance, it goes from "I'm more interested in talking a bit" to "let's just talk. Unofficial. You and me." And even later on, she says something like "I trust your happy Jacob?" They hug, and then Jacob says that he's happy to be with her. And that he'd like to spend some time with Shep after it's all over. I kinda like the light teasing personally, and the "you're lucky you're so damn you... League of your own" while Sheperd just gives a happy little smirk.
What you said is the reason that Kaidan is my favorite romance out of all of them for FemShep. He slides into it like a... I don't know. Ice I guess.
I know I'm in the minority here, but I really like Ashley and MaleShep together. I know it's a little fast, but she seems like the type of person that needs a nice guy to settle down with. She has that sort of attitude that clearly provides the most stable romance for MaleShep while still being a fine girl in her own right. Liara is a bit creepy to me. Jack doesn't need a lover, she needs a friend. Kelly is okay I guess. Tali gives off way too many little sister vibes. Miranda is the only other person I can really give the "okay" for. As she's pretty similar to Ashley except she is (was?) with Cerberus, and has a slightly different set of things that bother her.

Technically, Miranda makes a move on Shepard first. "Maybe I wouldn't mind if you admired my body?" to which Shepard can respond positively or negatively. Or maybe that won't happen if you choose another dialogue option than I have earlier on in the game. Currently playing through it and getting all the side quests done before ME3.
Miranda is strange like that, as that didn't happen to me. She just gave my Sheperd this strange hand slide on his stomach...

I've not gotten that far because I did my best to not initiate any romance with him but I still got the "not the best way to meet the parents" line after the dad mission, and I was like whut? Am I supposed to care about meeting your folks?
It was just very weird.
On a related note I do actually want to meet Kaidan's parents. I hope we get to see his dad since there's supposed to be tension there. I'm a sucker for tension.

Yeah I agree Femshep's Romance with Kaidan had the most natural progression. With Jacob, she was all pervy on him right off the bat, and with Garrus it was all "Youknow wrote...

calibrations, calibrations, calibrations, LET'S BANG" just out of nowhere... I prefer it when the LI shows some subtle interest in Shepard first, like Kaidan smiling after she told him the beacon thing wasn't his fault, and his cute slip of the tongue at the Citadel.

In ME2 it's the LM of that particular LI that triggers the romance. Until that point, that LI acts quite professional. Maybe that's why some of those romances feel like "out of the blue"?

Lauren: can say the same about Ash. It comes quite natural: first comrades, then friends, finally lovers. Sure, it's just "dialogues" and such and you can do a casual dance in the Flux, but that's it. That's still quite more than some of the romances in ME2 and since it spans the entire story, it feels like "growing over time".
Yep, Ash/Kaidan by far have the most natural progression. It feels like a real romance slowly unfolding, and not just completely out of left field like Garrus.

And that's why I prefer Kaidan as LI. With Garrus, Thane and Jacob I feel unsure: are they genuinly interested in my FemShep or is she just abusing her authority? As a result I cannot fully trust their feelings. (It is especially awful with Garrus: it is as if he admires Shepard so much that FemShep can make him do anything even sleep with her!
Another thing is bothering me: lots of asari flirt with my FemShep while no men show interest in her! Yes, I know asari are said to be monogendered and all but I'd like to have at least some attention from men! But so far (besides Kaidan) I got only Harkin to "flirt" with me. It is unfair: MShep is a magnet for women (female team-mates, many human and asari NPCs) while FemShep is almost ignored by the opposite sex.

Not to go off topic but, although there are some short hairstyles that look good on women, FemShep might look more "open" without the short military regulation cuts. In her armor and tough appearance it would probably shy the civilian and even military guys away from her from being either tougher than they are or just not good relationship material.
A more casual look would do wonders for her I think.

There's no such thing as a more or less natural romance arc imo, just whatever your Shep is comfortable. One of FemSheps was fine with being friends with benefits with Garrus while another wouldn't touch a non-human LI with a ten-foot pole.
Lets not turn this into a this romance is better than that romance thread.
Right. Besides that, it depends on your taste if you enjoy a particular LI more than others.
I think Tali's romance is sweet. Miranda's is straight forward hot. Still, I think I stick with my own fave LI ... since it fits my taste the most.

ME3 romance.
It's not strictly a romance as the ME/ME2 ones were, as far as I can tell.
More of a... fling... with a character on the Normandy. She doesn't come up as an option when you have the opportunity to tell people who your LI is.
Although, it's possible that dialogue was incomplete and she is a more complete LI.

Seriously, I dunno if that's an appropriate outfit for f!Shepard. She's a savior of the galaxy, no h00ker or something. Or a stripper. Wait ... I really want a dancing pole for a f!Shep in her cabin. :innocent:
