Yeah i can agree in some parts, but it isnt that hard to write down everything to an 2-3 h movie.. Its just to skip having a Shepard browsing in stores, or give a damn of probing every little inch of a planet. Or stop thinking every time of what choice u need to make. "What the fuk am I going to do?!...... search youtube.. waiting hours for right choice.. THATS IT! " :innocent:
Its not that hard. But yeah i can agree in many other parts,
I know what you're saying, but even still it's difficult.
Shepard can't stop and talke to Pressly, Dr. Chakwas, Jenkins for like 6-7 minutes about what Turians and Spectres are. That's way too lengthy for a movie. Conversations can only be like 2-3 minutes before it starts get "boring". Obviously Shepard won't be going shopping, digging through an inventory, or staring at dialog options. But it's still difficult to condense the events and dialogue into a movie format.
Here is the relative time frame you'd likely have to follow:
Normandy/Eden Prime: 12 Minutes
Citadel/Trial: 15 Minutes
Therum: 10 Minutes
Feros: 15 Minutes
Noveria: 15 Minutes
Virmire: 20 Minutes
Citadel: 10 Minutes
Ilos: 10 minutes
Battle of the Citadel: 15 Minutes
Total Run Time: 112 Minutes
At most you can maybe allocate another 8 minutes, but then it might be "too long". Now think about those scenes. Think about what all has to happen both general action and just dialogue. That have to really chop, chop, chop to get through all that. Or they have to remove one of those sections. Which is probably not a good idea as then the whole story gets messed up.

But I imagine work is still underway, so who knows what or if anything has changed.

True but false.. the original from August showed... it has been recently edited to show that it will be focused on the first game. That is what we are discussing.
Well, not to put a damper on your thoughts of some sort of new update, but I was at Casey's panel at SDCC and it was mentioned there. You can check out the thread started 7 months ago where it was discussed here.
Edit: Oh, and since it was mentioned earlier, more people need to watch Moon. It is an awesome pic many haven't heard of. 1 or 2 years old now, so likely at the back of a shelf or in a netflix queue someplace, but well worth looking for.

You can totally remove entire sections there without an issue.
- Move Liara to the Citadel and cut Therum. Not ideal, but totally feasible in the long run.
- Cut Feros ENTIRELY. The Thorian has been a complete non-issue in ME2 and in all likelihood will not have any effect on 3. The whole "Prothean Cipher" could be added to Liara's backstory as a Prothean researcher or just simply ignored.
- Cut the grounding of the Normandy.
And to add cohesiveness for the sequel, tie Cerberus to events on the Citadel (a third party in the Tali information bid? part of a lead that Garrus mentions checking before joining the squad?) and Noveria (the original backer of Binary Helix before Saren's involvement?)
Sure you'd have to tweak and rework the script but overall, you can still tell a cohesive and complete story without sacrificing much. Incorporate the intersquad dialogue more so into the action and you're good.

It won't affect the real canon story of the game, which is YOUR story.

Commander Shepard (going off of Male Sheploo)- Matthew Fox
Kaidan Alenko- unknown
Ashley Williams- Rosario Dawson
Garrus Vakarian- cgi character (preferably good makeup artist), keep Brandon Keener as voice if cgi (if makeup I'd say keep the same actor but probably won't happen, unknown could work)
Urdnot Wrex- cgi character, keep Steven Barr as voice
Liara T'Soni- makeup and keep Ali Hillis
Tali'Zorah nar Rayya- a voice behind a suit so easily Ash Sroka (cgi the face if too alien and if not do makeup)
Joker- Breckin Meyer (looks more like him than Seth Green and they're good friends)
Capt. Anderson- Keith David (seems right)
Ambassador Udina- Morgan Freeman (ethnic backgrounds are different but I think he'd be the best Udina out there)
Saren Arterius- Gary Oldman (makeup preferred)
Matriarch Benezia- Meryl Streep (makeup preferred)
Gianna Parasinni- Zoe Saldana
Capt. Kirrahe- cgi keep voice actor George Szilyagi
Shiala- unknown (makeup preferred)
Council- it'd be hilarious if you had Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson as an inside joke but it won't happen
