Hello everyone,

So, I've recently bought the 4 in 1 boxset version of Baldur's Gate and it was working well enough in my notebook. That is, until I installed the Kaspersky 2012 antivirus on said notebook yesterday, because now the Tales of the Sword Coast crashes just before entering the main menu when I try to open it. The SoA/ToB one is still working. So I looked up on the internet and found out it could be indeed a problem with the antivirus. But I tried a lot of things in the antivirus' config and the game keeps crashing. I have already 1) reinstalled the game 2) included the game folder in the Kaspersky "exclusion list" and 3) included the game's .exe in the Kaspersky "trustworthy files" or something like that.

Does anyone know what am I supposed to do with the antivirus exactly? What is making the game crash? There should be a topic explaining how to do this here: http://forums.biowar...634723&forum=10, but it's gone.

Any help? :/

Thanks in advance, cheers!

Step 1 is uninstall the anti-virus program and confirm that does indeed fix the problem. Assuming it does then look at the info you have on said anti-virus “I personally suspect some kind of behaviour shield is causing the issue” but I’m not familiar with that program. If you can’t find a solution and posting your question on their (the anti-virus) customer support forum gets no joy then un-install it permanently and get yourself a decent antivirus program like Avast or AVG.

ussnorway, thanks for the attention! And hey, Kaspersky is an excellent antivirus, even with this problem I just had I recommend it nonetheless. :P

It was really a problem with the antivirus, and I just fixed it. Should anyone else bump into the same problem, here's what I was doing wrong: I added the game's .exe file from the game folder to the "exclusion list", although I was trying to start the game from a shortcut on my desktop. Adding the shortcut itself to the exclusion list did the trick. Hope it helps!
