Rachni Queen and Sovereign for squad mates. Imagine the discounts you'll get in every store on the Citadel.

Worst part of my playthroughs happened on Insanity on Derelict Reaper. I took Garrus and Grunt there, but game made up her own mind and done barrel roll - both teammates got constantly teleported behind practically every damn locked door, so my Shep had to fight alone. That happened in my other playthroughs, but they weren't on Insanity and that was less frequent. Never ran that much before. And never been that happy for Mattock/Geth plasma shotgun. Post-mission note - Phalanx really needed 1911 style trigger.

I find Tali to be one of the most useful squadmates on Insanity because her drone can take the heat off you in a pinch and/or just give you a chance to unload on the enemy, and her energy-drain increases her survivability while stripping defenses.

And that Geth Plasma Shotgun is a sweet weapon.

I'm still not seeing a debate here.

Oh boo hoo, there aren't two guys in a room flapping their jaws at each other about it.  That doesn't mean the devs didn't want you to think about it.

Tali and Gerrel are absolutely hated and obsessed, same with Xen. Shala never gives us much of an opinion.

Tali's a sweetie, Gerrel's a badass, and Xen is deliciously creepy.  Apart from Xen (whom I like by virtue of being so deliciously creepy), all they want is to finally go home, to win back the life their parents and grandparents told them about, the life they were robbed of hundreds of years before they were even born.  That doesn't mean that war isn't a horrendously stupid and atrocious idea, but still, they obviously aren't the bad guys here.  I want to root for them, but at the same time, I don't want them to all die in a war they can't win, and I'd rather have them finally work things out with the geth peacefully.  The less good people die, the better.

Meanwhile, Zaal'Koris, the only quarian for peace with the geth, is kind of a whiny dirtbag.

Again though, there is no debate being offered here.

*cough*Tali's trial*cough*

It doesn't show much. The only thing that comes close is Tali talking about what it's like to be in a suit.

Which is hell.  A hell she wouldn't be in if it weren't fot the geth, and perhaps a hell her children won't have to endure if the geth are finally taken care of.

The player is never encouraged to confront the geth over these crimes. Even if they were, they are never allowed to.

Well, you could always just sell Legion to Cerberus and avoid the whole debacle entirely.  Or, you know, side with the quarians in ME3.

Oh yeah, that too. Though on my infiltrator I prefer the Cerberus shot-gun more I think.

I haven't played enough since switching to that style to decide for certain which I like better.

Nah. Katana shotty FTW:wub: Seriously it may be the default one but i'v been loving it lately. Suprisingly good when you have lots of upgrades.

@Cheez How dare you call a character voiced by Claudia Black creepy!
Just kidding, Xen is creepeh.

I don't know why this line stuck out to me, but regardless I feel obliged to correct it: Tali isn't going to have any children. Even (if what I hear from the leak is true) if she isn't Shepard's LI.

Yes, I took her and Legion to last fight. If only they held their position and didn't force me to revive them for 5 secs just to spawn drone near newly arrived Collectors batch.
Maybe I should took both of them for entry phase - had a lot of PITA during last two vents opening.
For rest of the game I had no specific preferations. Although Mordin, Jack, Samara, Thane and Jacob were useful fighting hordes of husks - remove their armor and freeze/throw/pull them in packs. Saves a lot of ammo, though I have no idea how to do that for non-soldier class.

It's apparent from this how much you appreciate deep and complex characters.

The problem with Koris is his arrogance, only I don't think the devs think he is arrogant. After all, he's no different than Shepard when it comes to the geth. You are never allowed to really challenge him and even Tali is forced to sort of agree with him.

ME3 is even worse with this.

"Avoid the debate entirely." Genius, Cheez, genius. The best way to solve the problem of the lack of this debate/issue in ME2 is to AVOID THE DEBATE COMPLETELY??? Why didn't I think of that sooner?

I am gonna sell his ass to Legion if I ever touch ME2 again. After all if I'm going to go down in flames in ME3 I may as well make an effort to be the Hindenburg.

Siding with the quarians in ME3 doesn't work either... because even in that ending Bioware insists on driving home what a bastard you are and how wrong you are to condemn the geth. This is in complete contrast to the "pro-geth" ending where Bioware has Shepard lecture the quarians about what bastards THEY ARE as they are being killed by the geth in huge numbers.

I love the Mattock. But for those particularly swarmy moments I find the Cerberus Arc projector to be my best friend. I love that gun!

Tali is a disgusting xenophile. I bet she finds her own species repuslive. That's the only explanation as to why she wouldn't get with Kal'Reegar. They had perfect chemistry.

Maybe she didn't see Kal'Reegar as a potential mate? That's like saying that people who don't screw everyone of the opposite gender find their own species disgusting.

Hey, there's nothing wrong with being a xenophile. All my Shepards are, after all. Being a chicken attracted to other species, so am I, in fact.

Truth be told, I was so busy running with Mattock/GPS, so I had little time to switch to heavy weapon - Sheps slow down a bit when he switches to heavy, and during those particular situations that was equal to death.
But yes, Mattock is "my precious", that kind of trigger I wanted of Phalanx - accurate, fast follow-up shots. And no bug for laser, dammit! Especially when Shepard peeks on top of cover, or switches instantly from side-to-top peeking. That's annoying, especially during Rush. So yes, my worst enemies were stupid bugs.

Well, my masterful plan is that when I don't romance Tali, I typically romance said other character so the match still won't take place. Well, that's not actually the reason I do it, but it's funny how it works out that way.

It's gonna happen a lot in mine. Tali is only with my canonshep. I have eight other sheps, only one of those with Garrus.

Nine Sheps? Do you have one with every LI or something? Personally, I have 3 Sheps for Tali, 2 for Garrus, and 1 for Liara.

Almost. Only Jacob and Thane aren't romanced. One manshep & femshep are saved for LI's in ME3. Thinking the femshep will get with Vega. Maybe.

You never mean what you say, and even when you do, you change your mind.

It's apparent from this how much you appreciate deep and complex characters.

And then you proceed to ignore the paragraph afterwards, in which I explained how I understand their conflict and don't think they're evil just because they want to go to war with the geth.  In fact, pretty much every post I made in this thread shows an appreciation for hidden complexity.  Hence why I gave Thane, Miranda, and Liara a second chance.

Intentional ignorance in the face of contrary evidence seems to be your modus opperandi.

The problem with Koris is his arrogance, only I don't think the devs think he is arrogant. After all, he's no different than Shepard when it comes to the geth. You are never allowed to really challenge him and even Tali is forced to sort of agree with him.

RENEGADE DIALOGUE: "You should go to war."  Never picked it myself, but it's there, right on the dialogue wheel.  Go play the mission again.

And seriously, you don't get as pompous as Koris without being intentionally pompous.

ME3 is even worse with this.

Oh, sorry, have you played it?  Because obviously you were able to derive full context from a disorganized and incomplete script.  Let's also ignore the fact that you can completely wipe out the geth.

"Avoid the debate entirely." Genius, Cheez, genius. The best way to solve the problem of the lack of this debate/issue in ME2 is to AVOID THE DEBATE COMPLETELY??? Why didn't I think of that sooner?

"Debacle."  I said "debacle."  As in fiasco, disaster, FUBAR, et cetera.  Not "debate."

If you think the Legion thing was SO BAD that it RUINED Mass Effect for you, you can avoid it.  You can create a story in which the whole heretic thing never happened, in which Bioware never tried to tell you what nice people the geth are, in which Shepard can win back Rannoch with a clear conscience.  That's the beauty--it's your story, and you are given the tools to tell it how you want it.  To a very limited extent.

I am gonna sell his ass to Legion if I ever touch ME2 again. After all if I'm going to go down in flames in ME3 I may as well make an effort to be the Hindenburg.

Sell Legion's ass to Cerberus, you mean.  Oh, and he's a he now?  I thought geth were toasters.

Wrong.  The geth couldn't fire--they were temporarily nerfed after being freed from Reaper control.  They were being slaughtered.  Legion was begging Shepard to let him go to them to... do his thing.

"You did it, Shepard! The geth fleet has stopped firing. They're completely vulnerable!"

And THEN Legion pops his idea about... doing his thing.

Sorry, but "his thing" is too cool a spoiler to drop.
