I love the Mattock. But for those particularly swarmy moments I find the Cerberus Arc projector to be my best friend. I love that gun!
Truth be told, I was so busy running with Mattock/GPS, so I had little time to switch to heavy weapon - Sheps slow down a bit when he switches to heavy, and during those particular situations that was equal to death.
But yes, Mattock is "my precious", that kind of trigger I wanted of Phalanx - accurate, fast follow-up shots. And no bug for laser, dammit! Especially when Shepard peeks on top of cover, or switches instantly from side-to-top peeking. That's annoying, especially during Rush. So yes, my worst enemies were stupid bugs.
Yeah, I couldn't get right for the Phalanx. At all. But if I could get away just long enuf and pull out that arc projector, it would clean out the whole darn room in like three shots. The bolt just connects with all the enemies.
The mattock and the projector are my main stay. Also luv the Viper sniper rifle cuz it keeps going. No pausing. I could snipe, and if someone snuck up on me, I could pop them close range, too.
I liked the Geth plasma, but I usually just went with the standard shotgun. I love the feel of a good old fashioned shotgun to their face. I usually gave the plasma to Jack.
But yeah those zombies, I mean "husks", they're surprisingly strong. Flapping their arms around. Then Shep gets all dazed. And I'm like, "Snap out of it Shepard! Snap out of it, or die!"
I took Jack and Grunt just about everywhere. That was my A-team.
But ones that never should have been squaddies? That's tough. I Love Grunt, but storywise I didn't understand why he was there.
Jack, whom I also love, made no sense that she stuck around. I"m glad she did.
I'll look at it the other way. Who would I want to keep. Grunt and Jack..hey. Miranda; Garrus; Tali. Those are the ones I would keep. Everyone else...

Zaaed who's just too bloodthirsty and annoying for my tastes, and Jack.
Jack I especially hate. I fully intend to make a playthrough wherein she is the only one who dies. Why? Because she's kinda ugly, in that creepy 'Ima Bald Chick!' way, she's clearly psychotic, and to be honest, her attitude just rubs me the wrong way.
And Morinth... I suppose... but that's more because she's all 'Ima rock your world~! Rock it so hard I EAT YOUR SOUL OMNOM'. That dirty tease.

1. Liara, Garrus, Tali and some from Mass Effect two are great characters. I loved the original much more. I too think you haven't played enough. Stop BASHING ON LIARA, other characters. YOU PEOPLE will get a line of hate. They are wonderful characters. I know I'm a LIARAMANCER. This too is not a Human game, there should be aliens, more non-humans!!
2. This in the wrong section I think. This topic should be locked down, not even talking about but only to yourself.
3. Im happy about Liara character. IM TIRED OF WHINERS, CONPLAINERS. LIARA is a wonderful character, she have interesting background and story. If you don't like it. That your FREAKING PROBLEM, DEAL with ith as well with other characters. I'm a proud LIARAMANCER.

Like IRL, stupid trigger spoils everything. Plus lack of crosshairs just as back-up for laser. Of course no-one says you can't place some overlay crosshair on your monitor. Bit instead of playing game you starting playing with game.

Yes, but I tend to not to use heavy at all. Dont know why, definitely not for 100 credits sake, that's just ridiculous (why not give spare ammo to squad?). Maybe because I saved it for "upcoming hard fight" and one and only hard fight was last one. Just because those stupid clips. Bah. My mattock, GPS, Phalanx were out of ammo from previous firefights, Widow ammo was "big boss special" so I had to use Collectors particle beam to clean up collectors at the end.
Yeah, quick follow-up shots are definitely FTW. But Widow better for big boys. Well, technically against them.rapscallioness wrote...

Plus, ME2 ranges are ridiculous - less than 100 meters. Mattock practically made sniper rifles obsolete, so I'd gladly gave up most of my ammo supply for Mattock.

If there was any good old fashioned shotgun, IRL alike, especially with chance to choose "slug/buckshot" projectile, I'd gladly stick to it. But there are none - only "typical game shotgun" with ridiculous spread and range.
IMHO GPS won over any other shotgun ingame as shield/barrier stripper, especially on range (all other shotgun are practically point-blank weapons, maybe I'm exaggerating a but). I tried Eviscerator or Katana for that - well, wasn't impressed. Both praetorians and Geth colossus shields were stripped by GPS and were stripped faster than with other shotguns. At least by my Shepard.

Have no preferences here, tried most, if not all combinations for most occasions. Can't say I got favorites.
Like Garrus, Mordin and Zaeed for VO. Morinth too, but I never choose her over Samara, yet I really like that VO actress (enjoyed DAA Sigrun pretty much). Kasumi not bad for Flashbang and backstab, but I didn't get is flashbang's selective work bug, or it's feature. Grunt is good, on the contrary. Well, if he's not teleported behind door or stucked in some guard rails, running on place.
In general, I can't say I hate any specific squadmate, I rather dislike certain moments in their "backgrounds" and development (c'mon, Jacob throwing up barrier every 20 seconds?)

Simple. Wrex was busy. Or dead busy.

I'd gladly restore Ashley/Kaidan pairing, but that is no-go, so I don't really care who work as bullet magnet and medi-gel absorber in my team. Team AI generally cretin enough, so one thing you can be sure of - that they will definitely die at certain moment. Well, most of them, anyway - Grunt may survive.

I'll be honest... I'd sacrifice every squad member if I could use their biotic souls to make myself more powerful. T.I.M. ain't got nothing on me! Actually I'll take his soul too...

Wrex is the best ME char for me (along with Mordin), but you don't simply put 6-7 badasses in the squad to achieve the best team ever. You achieve Gears of War that way (I can speak just about part 1 here, didn't play the other two).

WHY IS VERY HIGH RANKING OFFICER GOING TO BATTLEFRONT ALL THE TIME?!
Who does that today?
Why would they do that in future too?

Technically, Shepard is not in the Alliance military in ME2.
In ME3, there's no excuse to not help on the ground. Even Anderson is doing it.
