Garrus after ME1.

Tali in ME2.

Liara after LOTSB.

I was going to sayThane because an "assassin" character just doesn't work in a cover shooter but Kasumi is a similar concept and works, so I guess Bioware just had to work on the design a bit more.

Legion.

Two of the new squaddies in ME3... here's a hint: they aren't Tali, Garrus, Liara, Ashley,Kaidan, or Vega.

There is three squadmates that I really care about: Wrex, Mordin and Miranda.
.
Well, ME3 squad doesn't look to good for me... but I have high hopes for the prothean and spoiler.

Actually, I think Morinth could have been a lot more interesting if they ditched Samara altogether and actually spent the time to give Morinth a character.

Seriously, though, I've come to appreciate the whole crew. While I think a few things could have been done differently, I wouldn't part with any of them, and I'm willing to even give a certain sexbot top-secret new squadmate a chance.

Oh yes.

I'd rather nuke her from orbit than be forced to have her on the squad.

Her and SB Liara.

I more or less agree.

Even the characters I did not like in the first two games are ones I'm content to stick with and see the endings of their stories in the final installment, even if I'm not overly fond of them.

Perhaps, but they did not.

Morinth is a hunter, a serial killer high on murder.  While you could argue that her situation was unjust and unfair (and I do sympathize with both her and Samara's plight), you can't argue that she'd be a stable element on the team for any extended period.

Realistically how long would it be before crewmen went missing, or important people at your stops?

Well, there's the story investment, yes.

But mostly it's because THEY ARE MY BABIES.

The Prothean is pretty bad but I think EDI is worse.

See, this is where I feel they could have done something cool. We have the asari as this species of mary sues, and then you have Morinth. She's a rapist, she's a killer, she's brutal and cold. She has the potential to be interesting, like the Mass Effect version of Dracula. Suave, sexy, even charming, and a mother****ing badass. Go a step further and you can make her this tragic, sympathetic character with a warped outlook that she obtained by being what she is. Like HK-47 if he was a vampire instead of an assassin. Someone who delights in what they do, but makes it interesting with their own little philosophy on it that makes a perverse bit of sense for who they are.

But they did not. And this, I feel, is what makes it so sad. Morinth was easily the biggest waste of a character, not because of how pointless she was, but because of how much potential they squandered.

Prothy's actually a pretty cool guy.  You'd like him; I think you'd approve of his philosophical viewpoints.

EDI will probably be the new Miranda/Liara for me.  Hate her at first, grudgingly take her on missions because I could use her abilities, start to like her a little, talk to her, like her a little more, then reach an emotional point in her personal storyline and discover that I actually care.

At which point I would demand a group hug.  THEY ARE ALL MY PRECIOUS BABIES.

I can agree with that point of view.  But that is precisely why she is the only squadmate I would list as a waste.

I agree. I am just expressing why I feel she was the biggest waste of them all. Because she did not have to be.

She could have been a very fun character.

But she wasn't. Not one bit.
