I have just finished work on my luggage mod.
This is a summon-able chest mod.
You can find out the project current aims on the project page 
Any suggestion or criticisms are welcome and i've included the source for the current build as well as the .xls files required

This sounds great.  I'll try loading it tonight.  I can think of a few games that do something similar.  At some future point you may want to go with a pack mule presentation...but instead of an actual pack mule you could use a Bronto, wolf, or one of those elk looking creatures from the elven forest area.

Nah i have some other plans for it.

It will hopefully evolve in to a cross between its namesake (Terry Pratchett's Luggage) and Chesty from Fable 2 so you will have the enter its own realm and either defeat it or some invaders to it realm, in return it will grant you access to more of its realm (i.e. more space in the chest as i plan to add an item limit) or some special items from a shop in its realm.

Perhaps the Chest is a Sloth Demon? They seem reasonably bright, and they tend to prey upon the more lazier aspects of the psyche, so it might not be surprising if a Sloth Demon fixated on simplifying the storage and shopping needs of people.

I have just release V1.2 which has improves the stability of the saves in regards to the luggages contents.

This sounds awesome, I'm really looking forward to a Discworld style chest following my party around, hehe.

I'll try the current mod out later tonight, hopefully. 

Thanks for your effort so far, I hope you keep building on this... inventory setup in the vanilla game is horrible.

Rereading your project page a little more closely, I realize now this mod is somewhat useless, as it does NOT save the items put in the chest if you save the game.


I tested it, and sure enough, any items in the chest, without changing area, are gone if you save and load the game. 

To make this useful, and actually usable in the event of a Dtragon Age crash etc. you may want to attempt to make the storage permanent across Saved Games.

Is this possible? Not sure, and it's probably a good deal more involved.  I'm going to start looking at the toolset this weekend most likely, but I have to assume that it is indeed doable.  Mishka the Hoarder mod seems to save across saved games.

I've seen a few summon chest/bag of holding mods, that teleport the chest with you everywhere you go... Why? Doesn't the one added to main camp not do this? Couldn't you simply summon it then when doen with it send it back to main camp to assure being saved and not lost? Just a thought.
