Couple of things.

What is the best combination of companions?  Available to me are... Alistar, Wynne, Liliana, Sten & Dog.  Can't (or not supposed to) take Morrigan to this fight.

And...

The best, most effective, battlefield tactics.  I understand that Flemith shape-shifts into a Dragon and is a pretty tough.

Thank you

Alistaire and Wynne, everything else just speeds things along. Just get aggro and heal your tank, and kill it however you please.

What's your player character class?

You need:

-Some tank (Probably Alistar)

-Wynne

-I use Leiliana for these fights, for her stamina regen aura and sustained damage

Flemeth will run to the little hill to turn into a dragon when the fight starts. Keep your ranged (and the more ranged you have, the easier the fight is) near the start. Have your tank go grab her and face her away from the group so her flaming breath only hits him. If you have a non-tank melee character, make sure he's hitting from the side or rear to get the flanking damage bonus. (If this is a 2h warrior, pop indomitable, to resist knockbacks.) It's worth it to pop Warmth Balms if you've got them, especially on your tank.

It's a long fight, so bring lots of potions. IMO the key factor is that your tank has good gear.

You want lots of fire resists on your tank. The easiest way to do this early in the game is to get Shale and dress him up with a good fire crystal. There are armor suits for Alistair with good fire resits but they're more work to come up with. Some weapons (Yusaris, Aodh) have fire resists. Another option is to use balms.

Other than your tank, you want Wynne dedicated to nonstop healing, and you and the fourth NPC (probably Leliana) should use ranged attacks. As long as your tank can hold aggro and you can keep the rest of your party away from her, you should be OK.

I found the easiest way was to use nothing but ranged weapons as she cant move. Bring Wynn and lots of healing pots cause she'll spit lots of fire unless you have access to a tank bear that can hold her agro with slam while your party is attacking with ranged weapons.

Shale is the best tank for the dragon fights in this game. It is very easy to get a respectable fire resistance with him/her/it/shklee.

Also, a generic tip for boss fights using Wynne: Make sure to have a tactic set for her to use Mana Potions if her mana gets low. I generally like to control it manually for general combat, but for bosses it is good to not have to worry about her not being able to heal.

Actually, I go the other way on dragon fights, Ulrik- healing is so critical that I control Wynne manually and let the AI run the rest of the party for the most part.

Thanks again new helpers... Ulrik, Mjdewees & Mork_ba

You guys are great, but... I decided to let Flemith live... want to see how this is going to change Morrigan's atitude down the road... heh, heh

Nonetheless I know what to do now in Dragon Fights but I understand there are only a few.

Put a tank up front and spread the other 3 of your heroes at the north part of the area above the house. Set them on ranged and manage healing pots and lyrium pots in a way that you get to keep mass heal, heal and possibly life ward for the time she grabs the tank. (So if you can spare a health pot and a heal would drop your mana too much then take the pot and keep your mana for later)

Basically what everyone else said. Send in 1 tank, have everyone else use ranged attacks. Even rogues are better off with a bow than getting up too close. Shale makes a great tank for it. Although anyone else who can hold aggro and some force fields is just as easy.

Step 1: Establish aggro with tank (land all your most damage moves with Threaten active and use Taunt

Step 2: Position your tank just out of rnage of the dragon. This will force the dragon to mainly use their breath weapon against you, which is easily healed through.

The biggest threat is only when you are toe-to-toe with the dragon and it snatches you up. If you are out of range the breath is just fire damage that any number of methods can easily deal with.

When I killed Flemeth I had PC (sword/board war), Wynne, Leliana, Shale (Melee). Shale pretty much sat behind her swinging away while my two ranged were a good distance away healing and dpsing. On my warr I would spam Assault and Shield Pummel every chance I got.

Montana_boy, I thought of that too, but both my heroes liked Morrigan too much(the first as a lover and the second as a sister) to lie to her :P My 3rd one will probably not care enough for it :P

I killed Flemeth yesterday.

My party was: Me (Warrior/Templar/champion, Sword and Board), Shale, Leliana and Winnie.

Winnie was just healing and buffing my charachter (using Petrify and Glyph of Paralysis from time to time when Flemeth grabs my charachter). Leliana ranged with Suppressing Fire and Song of Courage allways active (Critical Hit and Crippling Shot from time to time).

Shale attack from one side using some of her tanking talents when appropiate.

I attacked from the other side. First, I builded some aggro using all my better talents (even the templar/champion one). When I finished my talents I put the shleld down and used Yusaris with some Electrical Runes and the Ring that adds +10% electrical damage.

Then it was only a question of time. Mind that I play on hard and I have only used 5 potions (two mana potions and 3 healing). No one felt. But consider that I have allready the superior dragon plate... that was another battle, I find Flemeth easier since she allways stays in the same position... the High Dragon is very difficult even with Morrigan in Party instead of Shale.

Bah, if there's a boss in the game I wanted to kill it, just to see if I can do it. Sorry, Captain Janeway. (Though Tuvok will reign forever in at least one playthrough...)
