I think one or two folk are gonna be seriously pissed at the end of ME3, I know a fairy story when I see one(that's not an insult), and unless Bioware have changed their approach in telling this story, the good guy will come out on top while the **** gets shafted.

And once again, valid arguments ignored.  Did you forget the part of my post where I discussed the importance of morale in a battle?

Or did you just believe that part was invalid and skip over it thinking no one would notice?

And.

If Sovereign really had the power to open the relay entirely on his own after Saren's death, why did he need to hijack Saren's body?  He could've ignored Shepard completely and just sat there activating the relay.  Obviously Saren's manual control was still necessary.

It's fine that Renegades argue for pure pragmatism, but c'mon, there's more to this decision than just "What's tactically the most sound."

Yes, but that information wasn't available to Shepard until after the decision to let the Ascension die was made.  As such, you cannot reasonably point to Sovereign's need for manual control and claim that makes saving the Ascension more reasonable.

It clearly does not.

No, however you are seriously overestimating it's importance here.
Ships get lost in the war. Loosing the DA is not a horrrific morale loss (especially not for the alliance, who are the ones attacking Sovereing)
Bigger problems to deal wiht, bigger fish to fry.

No. Direct game lines contradict it.
You insist that fihgting robo-Saren proves your theory - yet it does not. you don't know the reaosn. You just ASSUME and continue holding that belief despite all proof to the contrary.

There are plenty of reasons why Sovereign could have done what he did. After all, he does not know what Sheaprd is capable of (he didn't know about vigils file). Why not remove Shep, just to be sure?
Maybe he wanted physical acess to the console to speed up the hacking proces?
Maybe he wanted Vigils data file? Or maybe it just wanted Shep dead?

The Ascension is four times the size of the largest human ship, and boasts a crew of nearly 10,000. It is considered to be the most formidable warship in the galaxy, with heavy kinetic barriers and powerful weaponry. The Ascension is most likely the Citadel Fleet's largest ship, as no other Fleet vessels are seen that match it in size.

Yeah sure no gun... whatever B)

Good thing I'm a paragade then. Frankly as long as I win, and I end up being right. I don't give a **** about other peoples feelings.

Destiny Ascension is a dreadnaught and dreadnaughts are not designed for close quarter combat. Like carriers dreadnaughts need escorts even if like carriers the carriers have fighters.

But the destiny ascension is a Dreadnoughts. So having a dozen dread' wouldn't change anything at all when it comes to fight small mobile gunship/...

Since the dreadnought is not designed for close combat, it fails to escape and becomes heavily damaged. The arrival of theAlliance Fleet is the Ascension's only hope of survival.

exactly no dreadnoughts are built for close quarter combat, that is why they have escorts. Even carriers need escorts.

Thats why usually Dreadnoughts/Battleship/Capital Ship in modern world/ world war are guarded by destroyer and other warship though Turian cruiser forgot to get out of the way of Sovereign.

because those turian captains are dumb like that instead of trying to attack sovereign they should have linked up with the ascension and and the two or more turian cruisers should have made for the relay at best possible speed.

I remember playing through ME1 for the first time, getting to this choice and thinking to myself: "You mean I actually get a chance to kill off the council!? YES".

I think Bioware has pretty much confirmed (inadvertently) that the Paragon choices will always win out over any of the alternative ones (if the alternative ones even make it into the 3rd game). Blue is essentially the 'win button' cheat sheet of the series, whether it's a sound choice or not... and regardless of the circumstances surrounding the choice.

It's boiled down to a color-coded karma system... complete with their definitions of "good" and "bad" as marked by "blue" and "red" respectfully.  A real circumstance-based "choice" (where the 'best' outcome could come from anywhere) is no longer their goal (if it ever was).

I see what you did and I approvePosted Image makes me want to listen to Rancid (I know they didn't do that song but they use that line from it in one of theirs.)

I have 3 character types that I play Paragon, Renegade, and Paragade(practical). If you are Paragon you select save the council diolog option. If you are Renegade you select let the council die diolog option. If you are Paragade(practical) you select the hold back to fight sovereign diolog option (which results in the destruction of the DA)

The only real answer to this question.

yea I was saying this in another thread theres a 5:3:1 ratio Turians have 5 Asari 3 and Humans 1 so humanity builds carriers like crazy as you said no limit on them

Actually - like I said in that thread - the Alliance, as a Council member, can build three dreadnoughts to every turian five.

they never said anything about it its not anything to do with council races so I dont think it has changed

Problem is if you don't defeat Sovereign (weakening Alliance forces saving the DA from the geth fleet makes this a serious possiblility), there ISN'T any long term. Life in the galaxy as it is known, is over.

I understand the dilemma Shepard faces and find it anything but "stupid" (as the OP charactarized it). I found it to be quite dramatic.

Exactly.  There's valid choices either way. It's not (necessailly) a "save the puppy/eat the puppy." choice

"

I got that impression.  Also feels like the lack of reprocussions for doing good or bad things kind of plays out.
