I have the same problem. I have tried the disc on 3 xboxes and I have this problem on 2 out of the 3. The disc looks good, no scratches, etc. It is very frustrating!

I'm having the same problem. I was playing the game and went to a new area and whilst it was loading it came up with the disc being unreadable notice. Now whenever I try to load any of my saved games it comes up saying the disc is unreadable. I do have a scratch on the disc though which mysteriously appeared at some point when I was playing the game the time it broke. No, I didn't knock my xbox.

No problem with other discs. I tried installing it to my hard drive but half way through it told me the disc is unreadable. I figured my disc is messed up so have gone out and bought a new one... As a poor student I should have waited until Christmas but I was really into the game.

Just took Xbox out the box, just bought DA origins. After about five or six hours of gameplay, I also got disc unreadable. Sooooo pissed.

I too have run into this issue. At first I assumed it was my Xbox BUT my Xbox will play ANY other disk/DVD just fine! So then I thought it was the disk, tried the disk on 2 other Xboxes and it locked up in the same way, the screen freezes and I have to restart my console.

I got a BRAND new Xbox 360 and it works GREAT, however, on 4 outta 5 Xboxes the disk doesn't work... I know the Disk is good AND I know the Xboxes are good. There is obviously a glitch that is handled BETTER on the NEWEST Xboxes.

It doesn't matter if it is installed to the HD or not.

Any news from Bioware on what might be causing this?? It is VERY frustrated.

I had this same problem. I took the game brand new out of the case put it in the 360 and poof, dirty disc error. No problems with other discs on my 360. So I cleaned it, tried again, dirty disc. Tried install multiple times and it gets to exactly 40% and dirty disc error. Tried to get a hold of ea store where I bought it and they refuse to email me back. So I have paid $75.00 for a collectors edition, neat coaster. Played Journeys and it was great fun I only wish I could actually play my copy of Origins. Tried blockbuster but they aren't carrying it on 360. So I will wait for ea to get back to me in a year or so.

That really sucks... I wonder if it has anything to do with the case that it's in... I don't know if this is a new trend in xbox game cases but the back and front of my case just has a spoked wheel looking doodad.. So really the only thing protecting the disk during shipping and what not is a piece of paper and some plastic. Seems to me it could easily get messed up during transport. Either that or there was just a bad batch of disks sent out.

I think it was a bad batch of discs because the disc looks perfect, but like I said when I install before cleaning and after it always stops at exactly 40%. Also the post from Aquilina Trench saying it stops halfway through, I am betting it stops at exactly 40%. I even cleaned my cache and still no dice. So I have all my dlc and have yet to actually play the game. I hope the game is good but I am thinking more and more that it can't live up to my expectations after all this waiting I'm having to do. Shame to as when I played Journeys I got completely hooked in and stayed up late to finish it so I could start Origins.

My Live chat episodic fun time.

Mark: Hi, my name is Mark. How may I help you?

: I tried to play my copy of Dragon Age for the 360 a couple nights ago for the first time. Well I can't as the cd is some how messed up. It lets me create my character but when it goes to start the game it freezes at the loading screen and then says disk dirty, please clean. This is my brand new out of the case disc but I cleaned it anyway and still the same thing multiple times. I tried to install it to hard drive to see if that fixes it but it can not get past 40% before stopping and saying clean disc. My 360 works fine with all my other games so it must be the copy of this game. Please send me a replacement disc and I will send this disc back to you. I have yet to try the other disc in the collectors set. I will try it tommorrow and hopefully it works atleast.Again send me a working disc please as soon as possible I am really looking forward to playing my 360 copy. I ordered this copy from your ea store Order Number: xxxxxxxxx Thank you.

: Also do you guys ever answer emails because I have been trying to reach somebody for 3 days now via email.

Mark: I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced.

Mark: Please give me a moment while I look into this.

My 360 won't even read the disc anymore - I've popped in other games/dvds without a problem. Luckily, I bought mine through Amazon, so I have a replacement on the way. Hopefully the new game will work!

It is a bad batch of discs. I tried a copy I rented from family video and it worked just fine no problems.

Dragon Age Origins worked perfectly on a friends Xbox 360, but no matter how many times I try it won't load on my own. I even have the game downloaded to the hard drive, but to no avail. I don't think that it's the game, because it obviously plays on other 360's, but all the same my console read every other disc in my game library pretty much right off the bat. Dragon Age is the only game that won't play. Very peculiar.

Some specific games cause random disc errors for me (this being one of them), despite there being nothing wrong with the disc. I think it is a combination of the coding used in the game and the 'quality' of the drives Microsoft uses.

It could be the disc or you might have a crappy disc drive on your 360. I have the disc drive problem. Learned the hard way with Oblivion, Fallout 3, and basically any game I play for longer periods of time to save and save often. I've lost count of the number of times I've had the 360 crap out on me and claim its cause the disc is dirty even though my game discs are immaculate.

Greetings,

After 2 weeks playing dragon ages perfectly, I got the same problem.
Is so bad that my Xbox wont even load when trying to read the disk.

I noticed like 2 days ago asked me for an update of the game, and I did. Maybe all the problem it is there?

I live in Mexico so to call tech support does not sound like an option.

I am really frustrated, how could I fix this?

Thanks in advance.

I am having the same issue. I took apart my xbox and cleaned out the dust and dog hair and still nothing, I even went and bought a new disc...it worked for a couple months. I decided to start a new campaign a few days ago just for the heck of it and it won't play at all. I can't even get my xbox to recognize that there is a disc in the tray at all. Very frustrating.

I don't think it is the update. More likely a problem with the disc drive/reader on your xbox.
