It is believed so. Also why did this topic say James Sanders but it's Kai Leng when I click on it?

That's the most common thought. If that is him, I'd say his designed is somewhat different though, since that picture is old.

Yeah I'd say so - I don't know if it was ever properly confirmed, but it's really obvious ever since we saw that pic from the Art of Mass Effect book (depicts guy in OP with foot on Shepard's chest). Plus there's a brief clip of TIM with the same guy standing near him.

No, this was the early concept of James Vega he had back in start of ME3 production planning, before bioware totally did an work-around on him and scratched the concept art there OP.

I think he has a little bit of milk around his mouth, though.

Sorry, but no.  Look at the "Cerberusness" of the outfit, even though the gold and white (and logo) are absent.  Look how the design elements parallel the Phantom:

I think it is him because it you look closely when watching the interview with Freddi Prinze it briefly shows someone that looks like Kai Leng with the Illusive Man.

1st that concept art was first seen in enemy of GI article.
2nd first Kai Leng's description
3rd end result is complete different from James Vega AND we seen same looking guy in same room with Illusive Mn in ME3 GT-TV coverage

Speaking of which, WTH does "Leng" mean? My Chinese is pretty much non-existent (since I was taught Portuguese instead), but I figured his given name would be "凱" unless it's in another dialect. But "Leng" sounds Malay.

He's also part Scandinavian or something, so it's not too far-fetched that his Asiatic side isn't purely Chinese.  Additionally, it's nearly two hundred years in the future, which is more than enough time for the spelling or pronunciation of a surname to be corrupted.

For example, MacBean -> MacBain -> MacBains -> Bains -> Baines -> Banes

Speaking of which again, what the hell kind of a last name is Alenko?

Pretty sure it's Eastern European.

And "Kaidan" is Japanese, but everyone but Chakwas pronounces it "Kaydan," so I dunno.

An awesome one.

@Random Jerkface: Okay, thanks. I figured he was some sort of Bohemian-Japanese-Canadian mutt.

@Ijustgotpunched: That might be right. Boy, that's a pretty huge error on my part.
