Haha, I'll be sure to take that into consideration. Could be fun. ;)
Also, I'm not expecting nor really wanting an apology. Honestly. I would just be fine if they disavowed it and promised to present much better material in future. That's all, lol.

If I were Casey I wouldnt be praising this book in twitter, I would be running for the hills and hiding from all the future fanrage that is coming.

Seriously. The incoming fanrage is going to be epic as soon as this book is released officially.

I still wonder what kind of screw-up happened with the distribution for me to get the book before it was released in the US. That never happends!

Necessity level-

1. Disavow
2. Promise
3. Apology

EDIT- Bonus if they make a novel to replace this one.

If anything, we're lucky we got early copies to produce foresight into just what fans will be getting themselves into.

Hell, I'm hoping my video actually convinced people to stay the hell away from it.

155 pages of hate in a few days...and it's not even out yet.

They'd better apologise

I'm pretty sure they could of grabbed an average writer off of fanfiction.net, paid them a fraction of what they paid Dietz and wouldn't of suffered a loss in quality.

This book is pretty terrible. Shame too, I really enjoyed Asunder was looking forward to see if the Mass Effect books increase in quality like Asunder did for the Dragon Age series.

If only that would happen with Mass Effect 3! But no, that one is a decent product, unlike this one, it doesn't need to come out early for people to be conned to buy it. :P

It did. I enjoy a good book burning when it's something horrible.

Oh, I wish! I'd even settle for the same release date as the US! I won't be able to pick up my game before the 8th! Us dirty Europeans will just have to wait... and try to avoid spoilers.

But then again, I've heard the Australians have even rawer deal with most games... or so Yahtzee says :P

Its the Bonfire of the Vanities all over again, except those books were actually worth something.

We do. $120 for the Collector's Edition. $100 for the regular. It's yuck but that's for another time and place.
I can be at ease in one regard though. Knowing that Deception will see very limited release here.

The one thing I'm truly sad about is that most of the press will probably latch onto it upon release, because of the relative success of the previous novels, and the resulting disappointment will spell the all-too-familiar "that's why games are no good as books" type of verdicts.

I think it'd be reaaaally mean if Dietz was sent that video of the book burning. There's probably some douche out there who'd do it too.

Show of hands if this unanimously is considered a disgrace do you think we will get a official response? Or a better book?

We sure as heck won't get a response until a couple of weeks after the street date at the very least. I think what we might see is Casey Hudson and a handful of other BioWare devs acknowledging that the book "wasn't entirely up to the standard that BioWare holds itself to" and "promising to devote more time to working together with its award-winning authors to deliver the most satisfying and engrossing supplemental materials for the critically-acclaimed MASS EFFECT franchise possible".

Wow - you really, really nailed the corporate-speak.

I'd chuck in something about "appreciating the devotion and attention fans pay to the finer details of the universe".

That's why these forums exist, after all. We're the diehards.

All the talk about cereal made me think of the milkshake scene in There Will Be Blood.

Who knows, maybe the cereal meme will make kids get their daily dose of vitamins and minerals by having a great breakfast.

Generally a good list, but I'm not so sure about this one:

"The Citadel is described as being star shaped - Citadel is actually like a hollow cylinder that can unfold."

Actually, it does look vaguely like a five point star when it is unfolded.

It depends on the angle you look at it from. It's definitely made up from five arms and a central ring, so one may think it's star-shaped. Not really an error, yeah. Let's cut slack where it's due =P Dietz has enough flaws in the book as it is.
