...Well, I was interested in it and had a look at the error list.. Boy, oh boy.
And this is really considered canon?

Honestly, the events in this book are going to be glossed over in the games like every other piece of tie-in medium Mass Effect has had. Or mentioned once or twice in passing and forgotten.

So, I've just cancelled my preorder. Anyone kind enough here to share some knowledge regarding the "storyline?" I won't probably find it out in the book itself now...

It's so strange....we disagree on everything....Loghain...The Council....The Collector Base...Templars VS Mages...Anders...DA2 in general...Fem Shep vs Male Shep...Silent VS Voiced...lists of text VS paraphraseing...and pretty much EVERYTHING else I can think of......but this....in this....WE.ARE.ONE!

We are one?

Great. We're The Nexus.

Poor Chris Priestly, On Tuesday he has to make a sticky post telling us all that this "wonderful" book has been released and we should all go buy it...man i hope he showers after that.

Deception is -

a) an incompetent attempt at continuing the story of the Mass Effect novels.

B) a lazy attempt to continue the story of the Mass Effect novels.

c) bad writing

d) all of the above

But at least it brought us all together. /ThisIsHowWeDoIt

Hah, I guess there's a good side to everything.

On the back of the book they should write -

"This book is terrible. Don't buy it. Dietz's masterful use of bad writing combined with his skillful implementation of his poor understanding of the Mass Effect universe creates a figurative heap of manure, fit only to cultivate the crops of farmers. Don't take our word for it though -

The most unadulterated, second rate, piece of crap written in the annals of literature
-The New York Times

If you want a satisfying, deeply evocative tale of survival and hardship set in the bleakness of space, read something else.
-The Wall Street Journal

The pages of this book are better used for wiping your ass
-The Christian Science Monitor

Even we don't like it
-BioWare

But at least it brought us all together [in hating it]

Honestly, given that BSN has had 150 pages of essentially free-rein criticism, it's going to be difficult to pretend the fan reaction is positive. Let alone Amazon or internet reviews.

I... can't even begin to speculate on how the PR people would try and spin it.

Same over here. I'm curious.

*But my guessing is that Gillian dies? Just a guess.*

Sad part about this however....is most people don't take anything we say on this forum seriously as we always represent the "minority" and are normally labeled as Haters or Trolls or w/e...thus our warnings about this will likely be ignored by the public at large and allow this garbage to make money.

I just thought of something that could be mind-blowing...Maybe this book being terrible is intended?

Hear me out: In the short time that this has been dissected, this book is being talked about all over the forums. In fact It's so bad that its had us all in stitches and talking about Mass Effect related stuff for nearly a week, certainly generating far more discussion then the predecessors. Noticing anything?

..Sounds like a very clever advertising situation to me or as they say "All publicity is good publicity" (I think i got that saying wrong somehow...)

They will just have to learn it the hard way, sadly.

But let it be said here and now, they were warned...

Nope, Deception's release is genuine and sincere.

From my experience...most fans of ME are so ignorant as far as Lore is concerned they wont even know how wrong it is. If those conventions where they had Q&A's for prizes were any indication of the lions share of ppl who buy these games....then they wont know the difference and think those are the facts.

I know its genuine but maybe they're relying on this abysmal novel getting people talking. Very negatively, granted but its still talking and all discussion is good in the grand scheme of things.

Well, I cannot speak for other people but I don't visit the BSN everyday. Just once or twice a week mostly. So, there's always a lot for me to catch up. Glad that I took a 'BSN stroll' today :wizard:
