It's just...god. I heard about the cereal thing and thought, ok, thats...really silly and something that would happen in a Uwe Boll movie but I can vaguely see he's going for some dodgy dominance-marking of territory thing. But then you actually read the way it's written and it just gets infinitely worse. I had to convince myself it wasn't a just an exaggerated parody of the actual passage. He's an adrenaline junkie so he ate some ****ing Special K? And then tidied up after himself? Alright then =/

Using a couple of seraches I can get the whole paragraph. Adds some flavor.

Then, having placed a wireless tap under the comm console, he was done. Or should have been done. But Leng was something of an adrenaline junkie and enjoyed being where he was. That’s why he checked the cupboards, located some cereal, and had breakfast before putting everything back exactly as it had been. It was his apartment now, meaning a place where everything that happened would be known to him, and to Cerberus. The thought pleased him and Leng was still smiling as he left

And then he went to 'pee', because he needed to. It was a bodily function. He smiled as the pee splashed against the ceramic pink bowl of the asari designed toilet that was commonly found on Thessia, which is the homeworld of the Asari, who are an asexual species of aliens who look and sound oddly female and can often reach level 12 biotics. He then left, without flushing the toilet or washing his hands in the pink ceramic sink of Asari design, because he was an adrenaline junkie.

As soon as I see Kai Leng in ME3 I'm going to do my best to remember him as the ultimate badass that he was in Retribution.

That sounds about right, yeah. Nice work.

I'm just wondering if the error pages are only loaded when trying to refresh the page onto a specific post? Say something along the lines of this -> http://social.biowar...774/125#9104847
Whereas it would be without issue if the link was just to the page number (without the hashtag and so on). Or have you all been getting problems when you're linking to the page number only?

Also this was found long ago by Didy but never went to list.

XX. Character(s?) in Deception load files from data storage devices in OSD's. - OSD stands for On-Screen Display. It's not reasonable to believe that anyone would be able to upload data in equivalent for an example volume bar that is visible on TV-screen when volume is adjusted by remote controller.

I saw he posted actual quote about that. Is anyone who have the book willing to lend a hand to quick confirming this?

I don't recognize the issue - and doesn't OSD stand for Optical Storage Disc?

Thanks, I edited my post.

It's possible I got it wrong what Didy saw as error with OSD's.

Yep, mixed up real world use and ME use of acronym.

So I just decided that when I get my copy, I'm going to re-write and fix everything that Dietz screwed up. Should look good on my resume as a game designer and writer.

I’m not too sure if this has been asked before (haven’t read the whole thread yet X_X).

Do you think it would be wise if Mass Effect: Deception was to be recalled? Due to all the errors the community have put together. I for one would think it would be the best idea until they can fix all the inconsistencies.

Not gonna happen, unfortunately. It's official canon and always will be, whether we like it or not.

I doubt they would do such a thing - they may just retcon it and leave it at that.

Cancelled how? They've printed thousands of books. It's a little late. The street date is Tuesday.

Closest thing to that would be a fan edit. I doubt they would recall the book due to a miniority of fans knowing their lore. Most fans of the series would probably not notice anything wrong

It may just be me, but I would hope that most Mass Effect fans would be able to recognize inconsistent characterization and shoddy writing.

Even if Bioware knows its horrible they have to get rid of the so many books that have crossed the press. After that the new batch will most likely go on a sale.

My opinion is it is canon well the overall plot. Everything else is just plain to inaccurate or silly. Still looking forward to a official response from bioware on tuesday.

I don't think I agree with that last part. Any fan who is interested enough in Mass Effect to read any of these extended universe style books would at least have a basic understanding of the univerese they are supposed to take place in. Sure, they might not notice all the obscure mistakes, but much if it is so glaringly obvious that I have trouble believing anyone would be able to miss them.

I doubt that this book would be recalled. It would be very expensive to do so. I also wonder whether Dietz was paid an advance?

And even then. It would probably be bashed because it's fan fiction. If bioware wants fan fiction they should have a fan fiction thread/forum.

Gillian's visit in Afterlife - Afterlife is the most popular bar on Omega and people wait hours to get in (Retribution). Now Gillian enters it immediately and the bouncer doesn't stop her.

How did Liara get around this in Redemption?
