Didn't Dietz do research before writing this? I thought he played the games and read the novels to get a feel for the universe.

apparently not

I could've sworn it was said somewhere that he did.

The book doesn't seem like it though. Feels like he had SOME knowledge, but nothing comprehensive.

Now guys you need to stop blaming Dietz for some of this.

*waits for flames to subside*

What I'm saying is, yeah the writing is bad but chances are the nastier plot points were given to him on a list of things he had to include. So it's not entirely his fault sortof maybe.

That's a what if scenario.

The fact is, he wrote it.

So if the book is less than stellar(which it is), I know who I'm pinning its lack of success on.

Research could mean that he skimmed the wiki and watched a Let's Play or two before saying "well, I'm good. Let's get writing!"

Yeah, that's what weird. He gets some pretty specific stuff right: Omega's population, the length of the Citadel ward arms, the name of a particular armor (he even unnecessarily informs us it's "Level III Hydra"), etc. But then he's completely oblivious to the fact that Hendel and Anderson never knew each other before, Gillian is autistic, Hendel's been to Omega before, and on and on and on.

it's not the lack of knowledge that concerns me it's how bad it's written for me anyway

Although to be honest, this should be more about the novel than the writer behind it.

Still.

Really?

Well, as to those plot points....I would have been totally fine with it had they been executed well. A good story could have been told with them.

I'm as confused as you are.

I'd guess that he never read the other novels beyond the summary on the back of the book.

Could someone also please PM me the ending spoilers? I want to know how it wraps itself up so I can mentally put it all behind me.
Much thanks. :3

Oh, BTW, that whole "Biotic Underground" nonsense? Their goal is to conquer Omega...and then the Citadel Council. No, really. They literally want to RULE THE GALAXY! Presumably, with a Level Three biotic fist.

I get the feeling he went into ME1, saw that there were levels for bio-amps, and then instead of saying they were "L1"s or "L3"s, he just said levels.

What?

Cerberus needed an army, a fleet and indirect Reaper help to conquer just Omega.

This idiots wanted to do that for Omega, Citadel and ENTIRE GALAXY?!

What?

The thing Is was expecting all of this. You can't honestly expect everything to be accurate when Kerpershyn is gone and their on a time crunch.

Poor excuse tbh.

"It's called the Biotic Underground and our goal is to replace the Citadel Council with a biotic meritocracy."

The best way to go about this, apparently, is having parades on Omega.

If he read the nobels and after that he wrote in deception how Anderson and Hendel have just met, then his problem isn't lore ignorance, he is just *****

This happened in an alternate universe.
