The funniest thing right now is seeing the wiki editors discussing whether or not Deception should be added to the wiki. I wouldn't want to be in their place. Those poor fools don't know what they got themselves into, hahaha!

(If you're reading this, wiki editors (and I'm sure you will at some point), I'm just making fun. My heart goes out to you, truly! ;))

I think it should be posted on the Wiki so people can learn from mistakes. As of right now its still canon with a horrible story kinda like Mass Effect Galaxy. Not an entirely entertaining game but still canon.

But Galaxy didn't slap us about and we knew full well that it was an appetite wheter with a simple plot. I personally enjoyed it for the 30 min it took to beat. Also liked that Jacob and Miranda better than the ones in ME2.

Appreciated. My opinion there as it is here, is that we chronicle it, for the purpose of core info, but lock it in it's own little observation room where we can study it and learn to combat it.

That's probably for the best. Until BioWare takes a stance on this, it's not like we can simply pretend it never existed (as much as we wanted to, I'm sure).

I'm up for this idea!

So we have a scene from Chuck, and now one from Dexter. I guess Dietz likes television.

lmao. Great minds indeed.

I don't get your point. Im not trying to dispute something. All I was saying Deception's overall plot is canon but, the way dietz executes the story fails.

Which I agree, Just trying to get a grip of if you are holding Galaxy at the same level as this work, and was stating that I didn't feel it was that bad if you were implying as such, under my opinion.

F&+*! I hope Bioware decides to make this book noncannon. Its a discrace.

If it stays canon, it needs a rewrite

Like in years. I know the three original Halo books got a complete make over and some major to minor changes.

One of which Dietz wrote. Which was just an adaptation of the game, and is considered to be quite terrible by the Halo community because he somehow messed it up.

Compared to what the Halo community has now, I fairly enjoyed it.Don't be to hard on the guy this is Bioware's fault as well.

What do you expect them to say?  They're not going to say anything negative or bad about the book including saying its details shouldn't be taken seriously before the book releases.  They DO want the book to sell.  Coming in here and saying something praising about the book will have the users turn on them.  Saying Biwoare did review the final thing would get them criticized like crazy for all the mistakes.  Saying they didn't would get them blasted by everyone for not doing so.

It is. There is no doubt that BioWare really failed us. But I questioned their choice of Dietz from the beginning. Of course it is all opinion. I have enjoyed all of the more recent Halo books myself.

Also this was found long ago by Didy but never went to list.

XX. Character(s?) in Deception load files from data storage devices in OSD's. - OSD stands for On-Screen Display. It's not reasonable to believe that anyone would be able to upload data in equivalent for an example volume bar that is visible on TV-screen when volume is adjusted by remote controller.

I saw he posted actual quote about that. Is anyone who have the book willing to lend a hand to quick confirming this?

I don't recognize the issue - and doesn't OSD stand for Optical Storage Disc?

It wasn't I who found it.  Someone, don't recall who, remarked that OSDs are never mentioned in Deception, unlike previous novels.  Instead we just get references to generic "chips".  I.e., just yet another little departure from the established facts of ME.  In fact, in the previous novels, "chips" usually referred to credits.

These three were the first Halo books to have come out. Compared to what Halo has now yeah its mediocre. Besides that he just replaying  Halo in story mode. So it really not worth the read unless you felt like the game was not good on detail and story.

I wasn't against the idea of another author taking over. But obviously Bioware was either being cheap here or they weren't looking into a large pool of other qualified authors.

Pisses me off, the author is paid good money to write a novel that is set in the Mass Effect universe. If he wasnt sure about certain facts and unable to check with Casey or Mac, the Mass Effect wiki is awesome and pretty thorough.

It should also have been i his contract to play ME1 and 2 through and read all other tie in novels before he was to start on Deception.

The wiki says somewhere, don't remember where but they keep saying it, that Mac even went to the wiki for some details when he was writing. Clearly someone is concerned about canon, while others, well, not so much. If the author of deception needed answers, I'm sure anyone here are BSN, or there at the wiki could have, and someone would have been more than happy to help him get details right. Rather than mess them up like he did.

There is in fact one instance of OSD in the book, but even it makes no sense.

Then, after killing three staff members, he entered the OSD library, where every readout and every test result were stored

OSD Library? Is that like a shelf of DVDs? Couldn't you store your test results on a computer or something?

So, Nick apparently fights a salarian female, who from what I can gather is working as a merc on Omega:

One minute later Nick found himself at one end of the space that separated the two tables. Directly across from him was a willowy-looking salarian female rather than the turian he expected to face.

This strikes me as just a little bit unlikely.

While I do agree the WIki is the next best thing to an Encyclopedia. Bioware should've given him their own Mass Effect bible.

Requiring authors to play a game isn't realistic IMO. It shows that your into what your Doing but that doesn't mean you'll actually screw up.

There is one in every family thread.

Still there could 5-10 people and the agreement would still be remarkable.
