Hey I got a request from someone who has the book. What is the specific thanks given to Casey, Mac and Tricia, Google books seems not to have that page in it's quoted entirety in there preview. Seems that page is not avaliable in the preview for myself.

I am done.

First of all I don't like people saying things that aren't true. No, all things point to ME1/2 characters staying exactly as they were in terms of sexuality.

And why would Hendel turn straight? Does spending 3 years in an environmental suit on a nomadic alien ship have any psychological implications that would result in a change in sexuality? Would Bioware or Dietz intentionally change something established about a character for no reason and without justification? Especially when that character trait is so rare in the series to begin with? Especially when there are gay fans that could get p*ssy (like yours truly) for losing something about the character that they like?

As for the rest of the list you're grasping at straws to make excuses for sloppy/lazy research and writing. Being gay, of course I had to make issue of that one in particular. Image IPB

"I've been on a ship full of quarians afraid of a hole in their suit and a 16 year old...oh wait, I forgot, we're saying she's 18 now right? Anyway, an 18 year old girl who would likely toss me out an air vent if I tried anything. I'll bang just about anything these days"

So... gays can't abstain for a long period of time without turning bi or desperate? I'm pretty sure this would be no issue for a straight character.

Forgive me for being sensitive about this, but Hendel was the one I always looked to when it would seem there would be no real LGBT representation in ME. It's just sad and frustrating to see this happen to him.

You can pull it up with the search feature in the left frame.

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

First a salute to Drew Karpyshyn for the excellent novels that preceded this one and made Mass Effect: Deception possible.

Plus many thanks to Casey Hudson, Mac Walters, and Tricia Pasternak for their advice and guidance.

Actually I couldn't at least not without guessing at keywords till eventually I'd reveal the whole sentence, Google Books randomizes which pages are viewable to people :)

But thanks!

We don't know, Dietz just wrote him as if he was always straight. It's just bizarre.

Relax. I was making a joke. One that could be just as easily applied to a straight character.

I don't support his sudden change anymore than I support the existance of this book.

Added mine over there as well. Stangely, it's still stuck at a 1. Fancy that.

I realize this is most certainly the case, but it's still frustrating. It's wierd because I honestly feel like I should be shrugging it off considering everything else this book screws up. But like I said before, Hendel was the only gay character in ME for a long time so I grew a little attatched to him.

It couldn't be intentional. What would be the purpose of it? Why no justification? Why do it when you risk upsetting people who like that this character is gay?

Ask yourself-

Do you think he cares?

If I had to guess I'd say, just like with everything else, he skimmed (at best) the material and ended up missing it. I mean, it wasn't exactly talked about widely, just mentioned casually. Which was refreshing but important information easily missed by someone who didn't care.

Is this real? How could someone screw up a novel so much? Is anything in this book even remotely accurate? It sounds like the whole thing is just one giant mistake.

It does sound like that. And there is one glaring reason why. Because it is like that.

If only she did, maybe it's awfulness would have been better received.

At least she understands the universe she is writing in. Sure, it's one where vampires glow, and woman are completely defined by the men they pine after, but at least it's consistent.
