Benjamin, improbable or impossible, which it's going to be? You are changing your argument.

I'm not changing my argument. My wording yes, but not the argument itself. It comes down to the FACT that nowhere in any ME body of work does it state that salarian females don't ever go off world and seek other professions. I agree that it'd be extrememly rare to see a salarian female merc but it's not an impossibility.

And not an error.

You're not getting it. The problem isn't that she's out there, its that no one cares.

They act like its normal. Like its not something that's rare as hell and shocking.

Well may I add even though 90% of the population is male I believe Salarian culture is matriarchal. The females are important to the clans well being.

We'll be at 200 pages before the end of the day for sure.

Which is why they are almost always kept busy and safe on the salarian homeworld as previously described!  Which is the entire issue.

It'd be like me popping into the local corner store and running into the Pope doing a communion wine run.  It's not impossible by the laws of physics and such, but it's bloody unlikely.  And it would definately get a reaction from myself.

I agree with that though.

He should've been made to play the games, thing is if he's doing it against his will or doesn't like the games, he won't be emotionally involved like Drew was.

Then they shouldn't have hired the sum*****.

There is a problem if we don't have a line between improbable and impossible.
For example in the book Batarians chase and fight against Quarian cruiser. Cruisers are one step below Dreadnoughts, the most poweful ships in ME universe. Said Batarian ship was coming from raid where book says they captured a Turian slave from Palaven.
What kind of ship these Batarians actually had to take easily down a cruiser? Then sending Dreadnought in Turian space were been declaration of war and the end of Batarian Hegemony.
It's not however listed as error because it isn't impossible, it's really stupid. Batarians raiding Turian space is extremely improbable but maybe possible. That's why it isn't in the list.

Having Salarian mercenary in what I have understood a street gang, and nobody taking a note about it is pretty much impossible.

I get it just fine. Just because Dietz writes heinously doesn't make it an error, well, in this situation anyways. Nobody seems to care that there's a salarian merc chick in this book. So what? It doesn't make it factually incorrect is all I'm saying. More of a fanbased personal grievance.

To me, saying "salarian female in small-time merc band not a mistake" is like saying "quarians just give Gillian an entire ship because she asked nice" isn't a mistake. Neither are impossible, but they're both at variance with everything we know about both species. Both require an adequate explanation and a realistic reaction from other characters. In neither case does this happen.

I think their was note on the list mentioning they had an HOURS notice before that attack by the slavers.

Alright, here's a proposed style for the list:

Errors
(Errors would be things that are absolutely wrong and have evidence that can be found in previous works, like the games and Drew's novels.)

*Technology
(Errors involving the portrayal of technology and biotics and the like that don't match up with what we've learned in the past.)

*Characters
(Inconsistencies in the characterization of established characters.)

*Timeline
(Any errors related to the messed up time scale that this book is quickly becoming famous for.)

Oddities
(Errors that are more ambiguous, and can't be conclusively proven to be errors, but are still wrong - example: Kai Leng not having a squad with him.)

*All the same categories.

(Just want to keep it on the current page.)

For those wanting to help organize the list, for now just go into the entries and flag them as what you think the best fit will be. For example if you see something that's an oddity with a character then put [Oddity: Character] at the end, for an error related to the timeline put [Error:Timeline]. That way we can make sure we know where everything will go before we start fiddling with it and confusing readers.

Reposting this individual's previous response, cause honestly, I feel it needs to be repeated in this thread (in my opinion, at least)

That Guy Raffy wrote...

As someone with a sister who is severely Autistic, I'm really hurt that a writer would make a character say some snot like, "Oh, I grew out of it." No. You don't grow out of Autism. It's a disorder that nobody grows out of. Ever. After 20 years of living with her, growing up with her, feeding her, and partially raising her myself alongside my parents she hasn't improved at all. She still has the mentality of a 1 year old, the vocabulary of someone younger than that, and the social skills worse than a 2 year old's. Sure, some people might grow out of other disorders like "Social Anxiety" or "ADHD" but Autism is incurable. If Autism isn't curable by 218X, you darn well can't "grow out of it."

Maybe this was all a bit unfair for me to say because my sister wouldn't be able to understand this conversation, much less cry about it because of her Autism... Actually it might be fair; because if she was able to "grow out" of her Autistic phase in 3 years, she would've already been talking to me about how hurt she would be about a science fiction book.

Just linked Mrs. Karin Weekes to this thread. Hopefully she can pass the message to.

Hell, I hope she would've been able to edit it, but her job is to edit in-game dialogue. And she kicks butt at it.

(Facebook friends FTW, plus she once confirmed on twitter that I was adorable, I'm totally sucking up at this point)

And for cotributors who don't know how to add Internal/Anchor links:

After writing some text, select it and set it as a paragraph heading. That option can be found under the View or Format menus, not sure which one.

Now, you insert a table of contents. Everytime you add a new heading, just refresh the table by pointing your cursor to its top right corner and clicking the button that shows up.

Okay, I go and visit Vatican. See Pope and other folks in fancy dress and write a book of my experience. "It's was kinda dry place but, hey local fashion is really wild, see the pictures". And that wouldn't be a mistake.
