Haha, I think Kai is my new favorite character.
I don't think this guy is even Kai Leng anymore, KLINO seems like a much better name, honestly.

Hopefully I'm able to get the whole cereal thing out of my head before ME3 comes around. Otherwise I'm just gonna burst out laughing when he shows up. As you know, it'll probably be a full blown meme here in no time though.
Kai Leng's favorite cereal:

But yeah, this book seems like a ploy to get Nick hooked up with Gillian, and Anderson with Kahlee... Oh, and Kai-Leng with Cereal, lest we forget!
I'm so disappointed. All those characters deserved better.
Oh, also, when I can, I'm so making "Kai-Leng <3 Cereal" Signatures. Anyone wants one?

So I hated what the other thread turned into, and its probably going to escalate out of hand here too... but I must admit it the book seems to have consolidated all of the previous mud slinging into one thread. BSN pages are pretty clean at the moment.
Well here's the thing, bub. I very, very rarely sling mud. In fact, I'm usually quite clean. I shower frequently, and on top of that I'm generally very positive on the BSN. There are precious few things I have against the Mass Effect franchise, which means two things: 1.) I sleep easier at night; 2.) I'm fairly civil when I post here.
I only sling mud when there's a lot of wet dirt on the ground in need of slinging. And it just recently rained in Dietzland.

Well hey, at least we know ME3 itself is in reasonably good hands. At worst, most of us on BSN can agree it's in better hands. I'm sure anyone from the books who will be in the game (of which there are obviously several) will be written with a much sharper, um... brain.

Let's hope Bioware does a last minute rewrite and gets Kai to eat a bowl during his more emotional scenes.

He wouldn't have that problem if he stopped eating them, now would he?
Keeping with the discussion, I am seriously tempted to think that this is just fake bait to get us all worked up over it or to buy it... Please tell me it's not just me!

PARAGON PLAYTHROUGH
SCENE 297
SHEPARD: (tough; determined) "You can beat me up, chain me up, torture me until I'm unequivocally dead. But you're too late. The Normandy's already en route. You'd better hurry up with this; we're both going to hell."
KAI LENG: (staunch; ignorant) "Say what you will. I'll have that MacGuffin from your rotting brain if necessary."
SHEPARD: (after spitting defiantly) "You're welcome to try."
KAI LENG: (sudden emotional outburst; caves under tremendous psychological pressure) "Enough! I can't take this anymore!"
KAI LENG rushes to his lavish kitchen FRANTICALLY, seeking his treasured CINNAMON TOAST CRUNCH and 1% MILK like a mad scientist seeks his fiendish schematics
SHEPARD: (utterly confused) "What the hell are you doing?"
KAI LENG: (stuttering; shaking) "You wouldn't understand. I... I just really need this cereal and I need it right... right now. Do you... do you know why kids love the taste of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Commander?"
SHEPARD: (strong and confident) "That's a no-brainer: it's the delicious cinnamon swirls."

Come to think of it, kind of strange that I don't think anyone has ever eaten in a Mass effect game.
Have you forgotten about the mess sergeant gardener? "I get what ever I can that falls through the cracks"

We know they both occur before ME3, which is two months after Arrival, which is about the time of ME2. They were twelve or so in Ascension, which was a few months after the game two years prior to ME2. forteen or fifteem, at the most.Hello Man wrote...
I'm curious about the age of Gillian and Nick so far, their both 18. Some people think it messes with the timeline but after brainstorming we don't exactly know when Retribution starts or for that mater Deception. And so far it kinda does make it acceptable. Thought 17 would be more accurate IMO.
Anyone have their theories beside Dietz being wrong.
They were 15 in Retribution. Mass Effect 2 took almost a year and a couple months.
1.) "Retribution" is set after ME2.
2.) ME2 did not take a year and change from opening to suicide mission. If you're discussing opening to "Arrival" the line gets murkier, but I'm not sure where you're going.
Well see thats the thing I don't really know. Does any one know? The only thing I know is it started a couple months after 2183 the jumped to 2185. I'm only suggesting a year because of cerberus network news.
These are the facts
--ME takes place in 2183
--Acension takes place in late 2183; Gillian and Nick are both 12
--ME2 takes place in 2185
--Retribution takes place in early 2186; Nick is mentioned to be 15
--ME3 takes place in 2186
--Deception takes place before ME3, most likely a few months after Retribution; Gillian and Nick are 18.
Now, please explain to me how the two grew THREE FREAKING YEARS in the space of a few months other than author error or deliberate retcon.

Well yes, there is that. I'm faily confident Kai Leng (and whoever else comes) will be better in the actual game. But Gillian was actually the reason I wanted to read this book, and from what I've read and heard from other people, I'm not sure I want to anymore. I'd rather just keep the images I have from the characters from the other books.

55 pages of a joke, somehow I doubt that. Wishful thinking I suppose

I just realised most Mass Effect tie ins have 'ion' at the end of them.
Also I'm not sure I can take Kai Leng seriously anymore.
Just about all of them do. In fact, I believe all of them do. "Homeworlds" will be the first official tie-in media without the suffix. And thank the gods for that; it got stale a long time ago.
