Indeed. I can't help to think that this whole Deception debacle was done on purpose for some reason. I mean honestly, this is too ridiculous to be a spontaneous genuine turn of events. Or is it? Great, now I'm confused.

I think you just figured out how Shepard could unite the krogan and rachni, or geth and quarians: BAD LITERATURE

A bad book into a bonding experience.
Hopefully Bioware can join us in the positive negativity.

That we did.
I think we should all be greatful to Mr. Dietz for that. He is the one person that managed to bring BSN together under a common banner. His methods were rather unusual, but who cares. He did what no one managed to do before (not on this scale anyway).

This historic event MUST be marked in the annals of history...to be remembered for all time...for when our united front eventually ends...and we go back to our heated disagreements and flame wars. We will always be able to go back and tell each other..."At least we'll always have the Deception Thread..."

I'll probably still be up around then - I already know how it ends, but I'm just dreading the rest of the sh*t that comes before that end.LPPrince wrote...

Considering it was the only answer by any BioWare employee in this thread, ever, I just coudn't resist. Unfortunately, I already preordered the paper version, assuming the quality would be on par with Drew's work, which was decent and actually expanded the plot of the series. Oh well. Next time I won't preorder.

It's a nice thought, and I'm sure Karpyshyn has a soft spot for ME in his heart, but he is just as motivated by money as Dietz, if much more talented. He jumped at the opportunity to work with SWTOR, because it's an established IP that allows him to write tie-in novels for an audience that is orders of magnitude larger than that of ME. Also, being a successful sci-fi author he no doubt is aware of Dietz's reputation, and knew what the result of handing the reigns over to him would be.
Drew knew what Dietz would do to the novels, and didn't care enough to sacrifice making more money to do it himself, or recommend someone else.
Whoa hold a min, Drew wrote much of KOTOR's dialogue. Pretty sure TOR and ME are both pretty high in his regard... Just saying.

"Sons of Mass Effect! Of Bioware! My brothers. I see in your eyes the same disgust that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the rage of Men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of bad grammar and shattered lore when the Age of Bioware comes crashing down, but it is not this day! This day we RAEG! By all that you hold dear on this good earth, I bid you stand, Fans of Bioware!"
