Haha, thats a whole different type of sport.

on topic - its the poor sentance structure and the novel is one big case of tell don't show which is what I blame Dietz for (as well as the ****** poor handling of the lore; but I feel thats on Bioware mostly), not his... choice of what he decides to tell. I noticed LPPrince mentioned you already had issues with Dietz for this which I apparently missed in this monster of a thread.

Dietz didn't say Walters and Hudson reviewed it line by line. He simply mentioned them on acknowledgements page. The "line by line" thing was from a response to an email and didn't specify who supposedly did that.

They likely just advised him.

why not put a summary in the first post of the thread?

Not fair to those who haven't read the book but actually WANT to.

All five of them, somewhere in the void...

Don't worry everyone, we'll be free to "spoil" this... book... in a few hours. And I'm glad to see the Doc is still being worked on and read, good stuff everyone.

I'm trying to decide what my favorite moment in Deception is. There's so many great scenes to choose from.

I'm thinking about trying to contact some video game news sites and internet personalities and **** - the more people talking about this stuff, the better.

Waste of money... I realised this after having reading the book.

All the LORE/TECH/TIME errors aside, W.C. Deitz had failed miserably to retain the spirit of the saga which had been founded by Drew Karpyshyn and Bioware studios.

Sometimes, I felt I was reading a fan-fiction rather than a professional "CANON" novel... I wonder how come Bioware guys gave approval for the publication!!!

In fact, there are several fan-fics (though non-CANON) but given the consideration, the authors could have made far better treatment to the series than Deitz.

Damn straight it's cereal. I think I was one of the first to read the scene, watching the meme slowly grow as more people reached that point was magical.

No sense arguing about it, but what you are writing is naive.

Even if you get an official statement on anything it will be just a pile of hollow words to make feel better about yourself and shut up. Sad story. Realitypunch.

Ahh yes. Other territories.

They really came through with that one.

I'm sitll quite bitter about that whole thing.

I was up at 3am to watch that countdown reach zero.

I was glued to my monitor watched it go too. Only to be told US only LULZ!! F that.... >.>

Thing is it's our fanatism that fills Bioware's pockets, so really we have a right to say we're pissed about something if we feel their product or events are abysmal. If they didn't want to see it, they would not have given us a forum.

@Mr. Kusy

Here's a couple of tidbits:

A tweet from Casey Hudson -
"Finished my final review of the #MassEffect Deception novel. A really fun lead-in to #ME3! Kai Leng is a badass. January 31 release."
@CaseyDHudson 5 months ago

And an acknowledgement from Dietz -
"Plus many thanks to Casey Hudson, Mac Walters, and Tricia Pastemak for their advice and guidance."

Take what you will from it.

Edit: didy beat me to the second part.

Secondly, the autor stated he DID read the books and played the games and concluded that he is "proud of his work" and that he thinks the product is "great".

Uh you sure about that? Maybe the books... but Dietz is like 67 years old. Now I may just be prejudice here, but I don't think there are too many folks his age that play games actively. At least not anything like Mass Effect. I dunno perhaps he is an exception here.

If he did read the previous books though, yeah this is pretty bad. Either he simply did not give a hoot about this or he's lost it. I feel bad excusing an older person of such... but that would kind of explain the state of the book. Still doesn't change the fact the proof reading folks completely failed, which is still what I find most bothersome.

Fan Fiction? I've read fan fics WAY better than this book.  I would recomend some, but I don't think I have enough room. :)

Thing is, nothing has changed since then.
