http://www.barnesand...ffect deception
It's showing almost a perfect score on barnesandnoble.com
I tried putting in my own review, but it didn't show it since I linked to the Lore Error document. If somebody wants to put in a review remember not to put in any links.
Funny the only 2 decent scores on barnes and noble were both anonymous.
* The first reviewer that gave it 5 star was dated May 4th 2011, cant be possible, too early.
* The other was 4 star dated Jan 22, 9 days before release. probably just a fanboy who hadnt read it yet.

Top comment on the burning video! You know you want it to happen
Unless that book was stolen and then burned, the only message this video will send to bioware is its fanbase will buy its merchandise no matter how bad it is.

Banres & Noble rating finally updated. Dropped from a 4.5 to a 2. Hooray.
Apparently my extensive rating violated the terms of use and was not allowed to post:
"I have been a Mass Effect fan since the very beginning. When I first saw the original trailer and heard the booming bass of the "Breeding Grounds". I love Mass Effect, it is a Space Opera much akin to Star Wars and Star Trek and any fan of these two series should honestly love Mass Effect. This book however does not do the series and lore justice.
It is written, obviously, by William Dietz. He has written other novels in the past, one I can name off the top of my head is the Halo: Flood novel. In the past these novels were written by Drew Karpshyn and he knew everything about Mass Effect since he helped write it up for BioWare. This book has dozens of inconsistencies with the already PRE-EXISTING lore for Mass Effect which include such travesties as a Batarian Embassy on the Citadel to Quarians being outside of their Enviro-suits and wearing clothing. Any fan to the Mass Effect series knows these two are factually incorrect...sadly these aren't the only problems.
There are character mishaps, consistent typos and incorrect technological references as well as timeline inconsistencies that have been cemented in the canon of Mass Effect since the first came for the Xbox 360. It truly feels like Dietz did not do any type of fact checking or that BioWare even looked over the book and did their due diligence by correcting all his issues before it was published. I am entirely disappointed with the way this novel was written and produced.
On a story note there is barely any. There is hardly any character dialogue or character development throughout the entire story and finally very essential and main characters that have been featured since the first Mass Effect novels are killed off in the worst possible manner imaginable. This book, by far, is one of the worst novels I have ever read and cannot truly believe this was released into the public to read. It's appalling and utterly atrocious that BioWare would allow such trash.
If you want any more information simply look up the discrepancies on the internet and you will find news articles and even a google document on the matter. Simply put: Stay away from this book if you love Mass Effect, it's lore, characters, technology, timeline and storyline. Stay far far away."

Killing someone, a biotic of all things, with a sharpened toothbrush. What is this Oz?
...and this is how I kill off characters who don't matter:
Noel's voice screamed and both him and a Troll appeared from the smoke, the latter shoving a spear deep into Noel's gut and pinning him to one of the sandstone pillars. The Troll looked to Ayuri and grinned maliciously, wrenching the spear from Noel's abdomen and facing her with it. She immediately lashed at him with shadow energy, his skin fraying itself into splinters as shadow flickered wildly across his body. Ayuri side stepped to let him careen off the back of the the temple.

Poll: Should ME: Deception be considered canon?
I think I already know the answer though...
Do we really need a poll. We have 230+ pages right here of members frustration. It should not be considered canon period.

This response was surprising in it's civility. I credit Dietz for that. Still, it doesn't change the book being terrible.

Why is that suprising? Just because the book sucks, doesn't mean that the man behind it is an ****. What kind of logic is that?Death By Smiley wrote...

You do know many people pre-order that book way before that preview that indicates how's that book is a fail AND that most people didn't even know about it or just avoid it do to spoilers.
And reason why they pre-order it before it's do to previous books being decent, bridging ME games and more ME lore.
So your analogy is stupid.
After Deception, most of this people won't even consider to pre-order future books, until they at least see a preview.

Agree with Mr. Jackson. If the head honchos at BioWare really greenlit this kind of... destruction ...to their IP's name and legacy, then frankly I don't think they're fit to continue working on it.AshiraShepard wrote...

Although the book is awful. After reading this i believe Bioware should maybe shoulder the blame for this. They got the chance to review it 'line by line'. Its their franchise, they should protect their product.
Maybe they should look into who at Bioware conducted the 'line by line' reviewing. If it were my business they would probably be fired.
