Seriously you guys, his sentence construction isn't that terrible. If Dietz is reading this you'll make him never want to write again.

Sounds good.

I enjoyed his work immensely in The Flood. I completely support his right to write, as it were.

I'm just saying, I find the incessent repetition of short sentences difficult to read.

Actually, I feel dirty for even jokingly comparing this to Ernest Hemingway. The man was a frickin' genius. He was once challenged to tell an entire story in one sentence.

For sale: baby shoes, never used.

Dietz would have done well to follow his advice on editing, too:

Ernest Hemingway wrote...

I write one page of masterpiece to ninety-one pages of shit. I try to put the shit in the wastebasket.

Dietz should have binned pretty much everything except the cereal scene, I think.

Ain't that the point? Not the first time he ****ed up writing. He should either practice a whole lot more before actually publishing things or find something other to make money on. Cause this is just unacceptable.

Is it not a bit strange how quiet BW has kept about this book.

High chances are that they've been told to keep quiet until a decision can be made on the situation.

Not really.  What can they say?  Their best bet is just to let this thread burn out on its own - it will do as they unleash more awesome reveals like the voice cast trailer today.  If they start commenting it's just going to keep this mess alive.

The quietness makes me suspect they at least in part agree with us but can't openly say so.

And once they've decided, they'll have to say something.
Considering how well this book is universally despised by basically everyone. :innocent:

...man this book is bad.
I wonder, is this a curse or a blessing? Curse because why mass effect of all things why, but it can also be a blessing because for the first time ever, all of BSN agrees on something.

I need my cereal.

He's a fairly successful writer. If he can't take criticism on one of his books - fair criticism at that - then he's in the wrong line of work.

yes it is. some isn't logical, lots of stuff seems to be there to fill empty space and usually, there is one writer and at least one editor. so not just the writer produced this pile of bad writing, but also the editor let this go through!

this is like Twilight: ignore the bad story but have a look at how badly it is written. writing is a craft that can be learned. and anyone who takes writing seriously works hard on improving their writing, which usually includes a lot of harsh criticism from all sides before you actually hear something nice.

and then something like this gets published AND marketed....sorry, I have no tolerance for that. I- yeah I just don't.

Well I meant it was strange that they haven't even mentioned (from what I have seen) that the book is released today. It's one thing to keep quiet in the face of criticsm but it's something else to not acknowledge the release of a new official product.

Only way they save face is by talking. Everyone kinda backed them into a corner.

and btw, this isn't nit-picking. this is something ANY editor would point out because it simply is bad writing.

Image IPB

not to mention the fact that the whole thing about the "person in charge being turian" is of no relevance to the story at all which brings me back to my point earlier: just there to fill empty space.
