Is it not a bit strange how quiet BW has kept about this book.

Not really.  What can they say?  Their best bet is just to let this thread burn out on its own - it will do as they unleash more awesome reveals like the voice cast trailer today.  If they start commenting it's just going to keep this mess alive.

Well I meant it was strange that they haven't even mentioned (from what I have seen) that the book is released today. It's one thing to keep quiet in the face of criticsm but it's something else to not acknowledge the release of a new official product.

I never paid attention (since I didn't get the other books at release), but did they post publically "New Mass Effect Book"? If they have in the past, that certainly make it's interesting.

What was the reason in the switch of writers in the first place? It just seems weird that Bioware would take a series that seemed to get a lot of love and take away the guy who wrote those earlier books. The whole thing just seems weird to me they've been doing it a lot with Mass Effect as a whole, they have something well loved and seem to be going out of their way to change a winning formula. Maybe they have Lucas syndrome.

Seriously you guys, his sentence construction isn't that terrible. If Dietz is reading this you'll make him never want to write again.

Ain't that the point? Not the first time he ****ed up writing. He should either practice a whole lot more before actually publishing things or find something other to make money on. Cause this is just unacceptable.

Personally I'm more interested in getting BW to fix the lore than attacking the author.

I just hope someone updates the plot summary on the wiki soon, curious to see who all he murdered off, but having read the section everybody's posted, I can't bring myself to actually read the book.

Yeah, we had one more place report it. Nothing IGN big.

I am downright glad I only bought the kindle edition, not the paperbook. that way I don't have it sitting on my shelf next to Drew's books which I really liked.

The wikia boys have something special planned, actually. They're surprisingly tight lipped though.

Guess they want to surprise everyone. I support it. For the lulz.

Drew K. didn't an amazing job of show, don't tell. Reading the book was very engaging because of how well it conveyed setting (whether or not you liked the plot, characters, etc., you have to give him that).

Dietz simply doesn't have that talent.

Drew K, who wrote the first three novels, was the Lead Writer of ME1 and co-lead on ME2, was transferred to the SWTOR project.

So they hired a freelance writer, Dietz.

Who's story FAILS.

If I'm not mistaken Drew is writing The Old Republic now, hence no more Mass Effect but my memory might fail me here. I think I remember him saying this during the writers Q&A panel at last year's ComicCon. Not 100% sure though.

and btw, this isn't nit-picking. this is something ANY editor would point out because it simply is bad writing.

not to mention the fact that the whole thing about the "person in charge being turian" is of no relevance to the story at all which brings me back to my point earlier: just there to fill empty space.

He's waffling to get his word count up. It's a bad habit - one I'm prone to as well at times so I can't really criticise too much. >.>

Hi all, I'm back! I might not be replying immediately to everything though as I have other things to do today. Still, just happy to be here again.

There are already 10 reviews up. All negative, but for one (wich gave it 5 stars, so it can't really be taken seriously). I imagine that after a couple of weeks days, this will be one of the worst user rated products on Amazon. lol

Yeah, that's not a real fault anyone can accuse him of. Everyone does it at some point. I have when I've written stories.

then even he should know that this is bullcrap writing. "they were required to check in with" "new security regulations forced them check in with" etc. jeez there's a whole way to write around this and get more words out of this without even having to ride around on that turian who has no meaning to the story and isn't interesting at all.

I had no idea so many people enjoyed Karpshyns writing. His grammar, pacing and characterization are hardlly leaps and bounds above Dietz.

That sounds like Yoda, actually.  So I'm assuming there's no word on the canonicity of this... thing?

He didn't get confused and start alternatively calling a character "Zon" and "Von" for fifty pages, more than once on the same page.

I imagine if Dietz had got most of his facts right then the book would probably have been well enough received.

But I agree about the writing of the three other books, they were hardly literary masterpieces.
