They(Batarians) weren't kicked out, they left on their own accord because humans were encroaching on what they considered was their territory and the Council did nothing to help them.

Cool. Now tell us an example of how important or something? No we just get a description of what he looks like. Huh wha? But it gets better. Leng's first words "You sent for me?" Okay, pretty standard, but a bit unnecessary.And yet a few paragraphs down, after TIM gives the situation, we get,

"Another operative might have said something unnecessary at that point. But not Leng."

Arrrgggg!!! [/charliebrown] This book is a riot.

WRONG. Time for some ME history lessons.

According to the wiki timeline. masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline

200 BCE - 1 CE

First contact is made with the batarians. They are granted an embassy a century later.


2171 CE

In protest at the refusal of the Citadel Council to limit human expansion in the Skyllian Verge, the batarians close their embassy, withdraw into their home systems, and effectively become a rogue state.


Apparently they did have an embassy on the Citadel, but closed it protest for the reasons stated above.

No not meh, I've read fan fiction that are miles better written then this book. I am disappoint. I'm going back to fan fiction.

Expected release date 2/2/12?  Why 2 day delay?  I don't often (ever) buy ebooks. Is this normal?

You can get Kindle for iPad and get it from Amazon, presumably they have it on release day.

Now that you mention it, I'd love to know what part Casey read that made him go "Lots of good stuff in Deception. You'll love it. Kai Leng is a badass." (mostly paraphrased, I don't know the exact quote)

Because I can't see any.

Silverman: We go behind the scenes of the latest novel for ME3.

Cut to Casey Hudson: We really wanted to make this the best Mass Effect novel of the series, and hired one of the best writers in the business, William C. Dietz. He's amazing, and spent weeks learning the lore of Mass Effect. He probably knows more about it then I do. For fans of the series, this book is definitely a must buy.

Obviously. I was pointing out the total whiplash of a disconnect between that line and the very next one,which is what Leng looks like. Just basic narrative 101 thrown out the window.

I think he's talking about how he says that the citidel was a trap or something. Un-sure. I know many were critcising the trap thing.

In context, it refers to the Reapers. Or maybe Dietz just doesn't know the difference.  Who the hell knows?  In any case, that's not the main problem with that sentence.  Think about it: what was the trap in the first game?  And did it succeed?

ETA:  Here.  I'll just quote the whole paragraph:

As Anderson led the others aboard a public shuttle he was reminded of the fact that the Reapers had created the Citadel as bait for a high-tech trap. One that had been sprung so successfully that now, two years later, some of the damage the sentient machines had caused was still being repaired.

No the trap did not succeed, Shepard and friends made sure..... :/ The Protheans started it by rewritting the keepers...

Why is that excerpt even out? It sounds like a draft copy that's unedited and not checked for facts and sentences that make sense. I'm sort of hoping that's not the final version, I really wanted to read that book.
