The damage has already been done - they let the book be released, and at this point Bioware is hoping the backlash will slowly fade away. Lesson learned, nothing to see here, move along, etc. There is nothing to be gained from talking if they aren't going to do anything about it (which at this point they aren't), so they aren't going to speak out on this unless and until it starts to affect them in other ways.
The primary purpose of tie-ins like this one are to increase visibility of the game being promoted and therefore increase sales.
My suggestion is, to anyone who has the stomach for it and the principle to do so, cancel their preorder of the upcoming game. If it can be demonstrated that a bad tie-in can actually decrease initial sales, that is the only way to bring Bioware to the table to open a dialogue on this. I'm not saying you can't buy the game new at a later date (in fact, given that future DLC is a given, I see no reason not to), I'm just saying that this 'book' was a shrewd, calculated effort to boost sales, quallity be-damned, and until that ceases to be the case, there is absolutely no reason whatsoever for Bioware to do anything but keep quiet about this.
Think about these things the same way they do, and show them that we will not buy whatever they release without reading reviews first. That will encourage quality.
My 2 cents.
