Good. Now imagine Dietz in Brodus Clay's outfit.

RE: Blame
I agree that it should not be all laid at Deitz's feet but you can see from this thread that several posters have not done so. Many call Bioware up to task. This is their world and they should be conscious on releases that are related to it. The long and short of it is that this book disrespects that universe and the fact that Bioware allowed it to be released raises many eyebrows. Not to mention the tweet that Casey Hudson published a while back signalling his support of the product.

Jeez Dietz, if you want a 15 year old autistic kid to kiss an asari, just make her do it.

Didn't he also randomly make her not autistic anymore?

I remember in the first book there is that part where a krogan biotically lifts a fuel tanker (or something) and hurls it at his enemies.
I always found that to be pretty absurd. I don't remember the krogan even using biotics after that so what was even the point in establishing his strength? Karpshyns has many absurd scenarios in his books in addition to spotty grammar.
I think deception is pretty bad, but it is not Dietz took over the final book in LOTR and killed off samwise.
All these mass effect novels have been pretty average so I am suprised you all care this much.

He was a biotic, and he used biotics a few times in Revelation if I recall correctly.

Is that the same Krogan that took on the Blue Suns in a warehouse?

Could you explain exactly what it is you liked or admired about her?  Because I'm drawing a blank, here.

I believe so.

If I recall, he wrecked a merc for not standing down with a false countdown.

Why cancel the game? Dietz has nothing to do with the game (thank god for that). They are two separate products, and, if this was Bioware's big plan to promote the game, I'm fairly confident to say, that it failed, miserably.
I already canceled the book pre-order, shortly after I read the preview, but I won't cancel my ME3 pre-order, because I see no reason in doing so.

Cancelling your game preorder would show Bioware that quality matters, and they can't keep taking their fans for granted.  It would also encourage them to speak out on this, to do damage control.  If they have nothing to gain from speaking out, they won't.  It's that simple.

Also, preordering anything is the quickest way to incentivize poor production.  You remove the market forces that encourage quality, and show the developers that your loyalty can be bought by little trinkets.  No offense.

I actually never really thought of why. I just did.

I like the character, but I can't immediately think of a reason. Its just there. I've always liked Kahlee and never found a problem with her.

Of course, until Dietz went ahead and ruined everything.

My suggestion is, to anyone who has the stomach for it and the principle to do so, cancel their preorder of the upcoming game.  If it can be demonstrated that a bad tie-in can actually decrease initial sales, that is the only way to bring Bioware to the table to open a dialogue on this.  I'm not saying you can't buy the game new at a later date (in fact, given that future DLC is a given, I see no reason not to), I'm just saying that this 'book' was a shrewd, calculated effort to boost sales, quallity be-damned, and until that ceases to be the case, there is absolutely no reason whatsoever for Bioware to do anything but keep quiet about this.

I would if it wasn't for the fact my pre-order is the Collector's Edition which I made the mistake of cancelling once before and missing out on my pre-order when I tried it again.

My assertion is that there is nothing in the collector's edition that cannot be obtained after release.  Bioware is too shrewd to leave content permanently innaccesible to the market.  You may have to order it seperately, but the only thing I can see you not getting is a fabric N7 patch.  I guess my question is.....is that reason enough to encourage something like this in the future?

Not a question I can answer for you, just food for thought.

Ok, go buy the Collector Rifle and Armor, Blackstorm, Terminus Armor and Dr. Pepper helmets for ME2 on PC or Xbox.

It's already been made clear the Codex is in fact an in-game Wikipedia. You'll notice it even contradicts the events of the game such as how it talks about Reapers or the "Geth Attack" on the Citadel headed by Saren. It's pretty much a subtle in-game joke poking fun at internet information resources that can be easily changed by anyone.

following that logic there should be no codex on ardat-yakshi whatsoever. but you know, Shepard acts like their existence is unknown to the galaxy, Samara acts like it's a big asari secret, the codex tells us it's a secret, and then there's a turian telling us how his precious wine/mead/whatever is collected in an ardat-yakshi monastery. go figure.

also i can't possibly imagine how an objective data such as the time of drell homeworld collapse could be intentionally misinterpreted in codex. it's just lazy.

Yeah Skarr. He seems like a badass so far. I'm not done with the book just yet, just got through with Saren's torture of a batarian.

I'm very doubtful I'll be able to obtain the art book, lithograph, fabric patch and box art (yeah, silly reasons, I know, I'm just a huge nerd) elsewhere and I have little patience to wait for the other stuff to come out on DLC in the future, lord only knows the ME2: CE stuff didn't get released publicly for MONTHS, if not a whole year.

Anyway, I see your point and I agree with it in theory. Even so, I'm not cancelling anytime soon.

Problem with that is that people on this forum are so fickle as to say they will cancel at many a small (supposed) fault. The impact of such an action has been reduced by the hysteria and won't have anywhere near the same level of impact.

The mental image I got for that was like them pushing little biotic fields at each other? Though thats still really dumb.

Why's it dumb?  People touch in all kinds of different ways as a way to establish community.  (Fist bumps, handshakes, homie love, air kisses (changing according to different European region), etc.

Two biotics bumping fields actually seems to me to be quite a nice addition to the lore.

Ok, go buy the Collector Rifle and Armor for ME2 on PC or Xbox.

The same armor with the non-removable helmet that ruins cut-scenes?

As for the rifle, is it just that great, or are you compelled to collect items that were designed solely to get people to buy the product sight-unseen.

Like I said, I can't make your value judgements for you, but in my experience everything worth having in-game is available to all customers.  Little trinkets, extra guns that are superfluous or over-powered and armor that is nothing but window-dressing are not reason enough for me to pledge money to an unproven product.

Just came across this on the Mass Effect Wikia. Seems one of them got a response from Dietz.
